Q: how much energy or electricity a solar panel produces?
That okorder / They helped me a lot when I was pursuing solar. They will provide you with a free solar quote and give you all the information you need regarding eligible incentives, a feasibility analysis, your estimated annual savings, payback period, and return on investment. All in all, they will be able to provide you with everything you need to know in order to make a smart decision. Good Luck!
Q: I am trying to built a circuit that will power two USB ports (both 5V and 0.5 amps) from the output of a solar panel that produces 20V at 0.2 amps. I have a voltage regulator that runs at 5v and 0.5 amps but I can't figure out the best way to boost the current up to 0.5 amps before I incorporate the voltage regulators.
The previous answer about wattage is correct, so this is your first problem. Try increasing the number of solar panels by connecting them in parallel. To answer your question about increasing current, a voltage regulator wastes energy to regulate voltage. You need somthing that is not so wasteful, and that is a DC-DC converter. You will need to buy a 20V-5V model. this will give you less voltage but more current than you origionally had with your solar panel. You can alter voltage and current capacity, but you cant increase power (watts) with a DC-DC converter.
Q: How do solar panels affect the property's green certification?
Solar panels can have a positive impact on a property's green certification. By generating clean and renewable energy, solar panels contribute to reducing the property's carbon footprint. This aligns with the criteria for green certification, which typically includes factors such as energy efficiency and sustainability. Installing solar panels can enhance a property's overall sustainability profile, making it more likely to meet the requirements for green certification.
Q: I've been reading up on Solar panels because I think in the long run this would be beneficial in the long run. My Dad had looked into it before passing and had said it was too expensive. How much does it range for getting them placed on the roof and how exactly does that work? I think I remember being told that PGE has incentives and could possibly even end up paying you for having it? What does having panels cover? I know electricity but does it also heat things up? Sorry I'm kinda dee dee dee on this lol. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has solar panels can I get your experiences with them? Thanks!!
By producing even a small portion of your home's electricity through the use of solar panels, you will eventually experience some financial savings. This may take five years or so, but good solar panels often have a 20-year lifespan. State and federal tax credits may help offset their initial expense. The best thing about solar panel installation is that the energy it produces is clean, meaning that there aren't any bad or harmful by-products produced during the process of electricity generation. So all in all, it seems that solar energy is clean, green energy.
Q: Aren't batteries bad for the environment?Toxic?Expensive? With small solar panels phones, iPod's, laptops other small electronics could be smaller, slimmer, more efficient cost people less to charge every day. Maybe a small battery inside as a backup and to store the Solar energy for night time. But overall, batteries should be optional. So big question:Why aren't electronics being produced with solar panels?
Yes your right, solar panels (photovoltics) could be used to make electricity for small electronics. Right now solar cells are on many calculators, and even flashlight. But the problem is the lenght of time the cells take to charge the device, verses the power demand. I don;t think the size of the panels, and the amount of time needed to charge the device are practical. One think I have been thinking is that every one should have a photovoltaic panel to charge a battery. Then, use the battery to charge cell phones, MP3 palyers. The panel and the battery could be about the 8 x inches, and could sit in window, or on a dash board to get charged, then used in doors over night to charge devices.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on a hotel or hospitality establishment?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on a hotel or hospitality establishment. In fact, many hotels and hospitality establishments are increasingly adopting solar energy to reduce their carbon footprint, lower energy costs, and showcase their commitment to sustainability. Solar panels can be installed on rooftops, parking lots, or even as shading structures, providing clean and renewable energy to power the establishment's operations.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on warehouses or industrial facilities?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on warehouses or industrial facilities. In fact, these large open spaces are often ideal for installing solar panels due to the ample roof space available. Installing solar panels on warehouses or industrial facilities can help generate clean and renewable energy, reduce electricity costs, and contribute to sustainability efforts.
Q: How does the size of a solar panel affect its performance?
The size of a solar panel directly affects its performance as a larger panel can capture more sunlight and generate a higher amount of electricity. A larger surface area allows for more solar cells to be integrated, resulting in increased energy production. Additionally, a larger panel can accommodate more efficient components and have a lower resistance, leading to improved overall performance.
Q: I don't see much solar panels on people's houses where I live. I got a long time to go before doing so but I was planning on buying a few solar panels when I retire in the far future. In your opinion, is such an investment worth it? Would you buy them? I realize they are very expensive hence why I said when I retire. Thanks for your opinion
The payback is usually between about 5 and 5 years depending on how expensive electricity is in your area, the rebates available, and where you live (is it sunny most of the time?) Most people that get them don't do it for the investment - they do it to be energy responsible - but it's not a bad way to do both if you have the money to put into it. I personally just pay for the green energy option from my electricity provider. So I am buying power from solar and wind farms, and it cost about 0% more per month. I don't get the benefit of free power, but it comes with a smaller price tag initially, and I think when we all invest in these technologies, the price will improve over time, so energy costs will be lower in the future.
Q: I'm looking into buying solar panels, there are all kinds of ranges of energy output...but my question is, when ti says...say 50 watts of power...does that mean 50 watts a day, an hour, a minute, what?
A 50-watt rating means the panel will produce 50 watts as long as the standard conditions are maintained. So if you had this bright sun and cool temperatures for 6 hours, the panel would deliver 50 x 6 = 900 watt hours, or a little shy of kilowatt-hour. Kilowatt-hours (kWh) is the reading on your electric bill. However, like most advertising, the 50-watt number is not realistic. They assume that the air surrounding the panel is very cold. 25 watts is a better number to use for this size of panel for engineering purposes.
