Or any cost they know of that they might have paid for a cement pouring so I can estimate?: Calculate the area and volume of the court you desire. Keep all units of measure the same. Assume the following Area = length x width volume = length x thickness I cubic yard of cement = 27 cubic feet =(3' x 3' x 3') Example: 10' x 10' court that is 3 thick area = 10' x 10' = 100 sq ft. Volume = 100 sq ft. x 3/(12'/ft)= 100sq ft x .25'= 25 cubic feet. 25 cubic feet = 25ft^3 / 27ft^3 = .92 cubic yards of concrete. Figure about $55 to $75 per cubic yard of cement. Your court would cost about $50 to $69 for the concrete. Or in other words about $0.50 to $0.69 per square foot. This does not include labor. Then consider other materials such as re-mesh or re-bar to add strength to the concrete.

Q: i am making a disc golf course tee for my boy scout eagle project. i know a little about cement, but for anyone who knows a lot about cement construction, can you explain this...i need to make a rectangular and circular tee(which is a cement platform where one would stand while throwing a disc). the circle has a diameter of 11ft and rectangle is 11x9. I will be building it on dirt, which is level. Q: Ones cement concrete is set and solid, it is as hard as rock? How it happens?Are pebles or cource sand in it helps? Or is it cement powder that becomes hard?: the cement powder is what gets hard. it is a chemical reaction where the point is to make the stone into a pourable item, then as it dries it turns back in to stone. the pebbles and sand are present to reduce cost and to help with expansion and cracking problems.

But I'm wondering what it chemically actually is.: It's called, simply enough, dental cement, but chemically, it's usually zinc phosphate. In other words, one 60 pound bag of pre-mix or an equivalent Portland Cement/rock and sand mix. At .45 cubic feet the bucket may overflow and/or be too deep to properly mix, but I do it all the time for difficult access pours of small quantities.

Q: i'm finding it quite confusing =/ thank you.: Cement is a powder-like substance;consists of aluminium, silicates etc. manufactured in a klin. Mortar is mixture of cement and sand. It is used to join bricks in a wall. Concrete is a mixture of cement, sand and aggregate(small stones) used to construct beam and columns.

Q: I am trying to match a cement grout for stone patio to same color as my decomposed granite walkway color. I tried mixing grey cement with decomposed granite as aggregate in various ratios to make the grout (1:2, 1:3) but all are just grey. Would white portland cement (more $$$) work better or still be no match? I am afraid to try the cement color pigments cause I know I will never get it right. The decomposed granite is a light brownish color. They call it quot;orangequot; but that's probably because we are in central Texas and everyone near UT thinks everything is orange. Any help?: The cement color works but a number of small trials are required to get it just correct. The trials need to be made with an adequate size so the components can be measured accurately and reproduced when the sample color is developed. Even after you think you have the correct color, try your proportions once more with a slightly larger sample to verify the correct ratio has been selected. As you are aware the wet color is different than the dried color. I would start with the cheaper cements and only go up in costs if you are not coming up with the color you want. You may want to try using mixtures of different sand colors if the granite is not getting you to the color you want. This definitely is a trial and error project. You may want to go slightly to the darker side of a match in that as the new grout weathers it will lighten slightly. After the grout weathers a very thin mix of cement and pigment can be mixed up and the joints can be painted with the blend. If bad goes to worse you may want to paint all the joints to make them consistent. I have used Liquid Cement Color by Quikrete which I got at Lowes, it was a bear but finally came up with an acceptable match.
