- Q: my floor tile has a crack so i replaced one tile with the same exact tile but but the new tile looks different how do i make the new tile look like the old tile
- challenging step browse with the search engines just that might help
- Q: I‘m going to be putting in a tile floor in my kitchen (all cabinets and appliances removed). I have done my research and have a good idea of what I will be doing - beef up the subfloor with plywood and lots of screws for rigidity; use cement based self leveler to correct a mild slope; install backerboard or decoupling membrane (not sure which yet) followed by the tile.I have a plan, but plans tend to fall apart after their first run-in with reality. Has anyone run into types of problems they don‘t talk about on DIY network? The types of problems complete the following kinds of sentences: are you f***ing kidding me? You have to do ____ before ___? or dammit, why don‘t they tell you you need [insert name of specialized gadget] on a product that cures in 10 minutes? or boy was I an idiot for doing/not doing [insert critically important but not obvious tiling procedure here].?Much obliged, and thanks for the responses.
- Before okorder /. You'll find video tips about tile installation as well as lots of useful information especially if you're installing kitchen glass tiles. Good luck!
- Q: Suppose you have three types of tile: red tiles, which are 1x1, bluetiles which are 1 x1, and green tiles which are 1 x 2. Let tn be the number of ways to lineup these tiles to form a 1 x n line. Such a conguration is called atiling of a 1 x n board. Determine (and justify) a recurrence relation for tn, and use yourrecurrence to compute t9.
- to build a line of length n, andd a green tile to the right of a line of length n-2 or add either a red or blue tile to the rihgt of a line of length n-1 f(n) = f(n-2) + 2f(n-1) f(0) = 1 (there is 1 way to make a line of length 0: use no tiles) f(1)=2 f(2) = 5 f(3) = 12 f(4) = 29 f(6) = 70 f*6( = 169 f(7) = 409 f(8) = 985 f(9) = 2379
- Q: if there are 24 square tiles in a box and there are enough to cover 3 square feet, how big are the tiles?
- 24 tiles/3 sq ft =8 tiles per square foot. Since 8 is not a square, there is no solution, or the tiles cannot be square.
- Q: Move the new home decoration for the living room floor wood or tiles hesitant, I personally prefer some of the floor, feel very warm on the grade of the feeling, and the bedroom is the floor, all the wood flooring will make home more sense of coordination, but the tiles Practicality a little higher, so clean, more durable, so under the very hesitant, ask for advice ~
- It is not good to decide that my house is not down, but I have to worry about it.I want me to say, depends on their own family circumstances. If the family often many people or visitors, the best use of tiles (you can choose Close to the color, or find the experts with a color.) If people are small, on the wooden floor, after all, warm, home Well, is not
- Q: I am installing 4.5 x 4.5 porcelain tiles on a drywall kitchen backsplash. Applying Omnigrip mastic using a 1/4 x 3/16 vnotch trowel. The tiles have a waffle grid pattern on the back which is about 1/16 deep. I tested the application of one tile and noticed that the mastic did not fill all the waffle depressions. Are they supposed to be all filled? DO I have to backbutter the tiles? Am I using the correct trowel size? Please help!P.S. What is the purpose of the waffle pattern in the first place?
- you must change your space for your kitchen space first
- Q: for diferent size tiles are there standard grout joint sizes
- This doesn't directly answer your question, but I thought that you might like to know what can happen if you don't make a grouted joint in ceramic tiles, particularly in a shower cubicle. The tiler who tiled my shower room didn't make any joints at all. He set the tiles so close together that they were touching, presumably to save on grount and on time. That's what caused a leak in my shower cubicle, strangely enough. The water washed off the tiny amount of grout that was wiped over the tiles, then it worked its way through and behind the tiles, and appeared as a wet patch on the carpet in the hallway outside the shower room. All this took several years to show up. I had to have the shower cubicle retiled, with 3 or 4 mm grouted joints, plus new plaster board backing, but it solved the problem of the leak. So, that's what could happen if you don't put grouted joints in ceramic tiles, particularly if they are in a shower cubicle.
- Q: want to put tile in bathroom but don‘t know how
- Many factors to start with. Are you on slab or wood sub floor? Slab you can generally go straight over. Wood sub flooring usually need another another substrate to beef it up Make it stronger. Tile codes call for a minimum total 1 1/4 total substrate to support tile. Most often ( but there are a few other ways) an 1/2 cement board needs to be installed. There are proper procedures to do this and not following these simple ways of installation can lead to tile failure. Depending on the tile size , there is a proper size trowel that spreads the thin set ( cement based tile adhesive). By planning ahead and laying out the room to get the best cuts all around, the tile is layed out and glued down. This is just the tip of the ice berg in the proper procedures but it gives you a start. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
- Q: Yesterday I bought tile from menards and they are sticky on the backs of them, my question is do I need to use other glue as well? If so what kind of glue?
- I don't think you should use more glue but they will need to be weighed down i.e. a roller like the type used for linoleum. or something flat and heavy
- Q: I‘m looking to replace a ceramic tile floor in my kitchen with a different style ceramic tile. The contractor says I have two options. He can either lay the new ceramic tile on the old, which will be cheaper than bringing up the old tile but then the floor will be raised 1 to 1 1/2 above current level. Or, he can take up the old ceramic tile but then he‘d have to remove the old layer of plywood and put down a new layer, which will be more labor-intensive and expensive. Is there any other issues regarding these two scenarios that I should take into account?
- it is never a good idea to overlay anything, but it is your choice... myself i would remove the floor tile, check to make sure that the underlayment is well attached, if not you can screw down all the joints, put down luan board (screw and glue) which is 1/4 inch thick, using the correct thin set for what you have relay the tile floor. if there is any height differences around the cabinets simply use a small 1/4 round around the kick plates at the bottom of the cabinets, this will help with any cosmetic looks. when you get someone to lay the floor make sure they are bonded and insured and get any permits if needed for your area.
