- Q: I don‘t want to rent a wet saw for just a few pieces of tile. And I certainly don‘t need to buy one. Do some places offer this service if so where. Thanks
- difficult situation seek on to google or bing it can assist
- Q: i;m going to install a medallion and i need to cut circle on four tiles. is there anything else besides a hand grinder that will do the job, ( cheap) i don‘t want to spend 300$$ just to cut 4 tiles to make a circle for the medallion to fit. thanks

- Q: My husband and I are disagreeing about tile on the wall. What is your opinion about tile on the bathroom wall, half way up? Here are the yes and no‘s of arguments:YES:The tile is neutral and beautiful. There is a WOW factor when you walk in and see the extra tile. It‘s practical for our household with a one year old who splashes and may smudge a non-tiled bathroom wall.NO:It‘s old fashioned, not necessary and I would rather have empty wall space available to paint from top to bottom. There only needs to be tile around the bath tub, for splashing and practicality purposes.
- I would definitely tile! especially with children in the house. I still love the idea that my teenage boys' bathroom is STILL tiled! and who says it has to be old fashioned? only if you are using 3x3 white tiles. use bigger, more earthy toned tile. even if you can't afford travertine, you can still get look-a-like ceramic! Good luck to y'all!
- Q: I am having carpet professionally install, but would like to tile my dinning area. Should I install the tiles first? And how should I leave the transition area of the tile?
- I would have the tiles installed first since it's a messy job. They have to use quick set, grout, cut tiles and etc. so no matter who does it, it's still messy. Then you don't have to worry about protecting your new carpet with some tarps. Usually in the tile section somewhere of home improvement stores there is metal transition pieces you can buy for 2 or 3 bucks that you just nail into the floor.
- Q: My granddaughter dropped a hard toy while being held by her Mom. It put a quarter size hole in the center of my ceramic tile. How can I go about filling this hole?

- Q: The tile in my shower floor got torn apart
- Without more detail; I have to ask your definition of Torn Apart. I'll assume you mean separated from the substrate? Certainly it would help to know WHY? It would also help to know what the substance of the substrate is; the method of tile install; type of mortar (mastic) and the general condition of any tile that remains in place. Do you have extra tile? Do you have tools such as a Diag. Grinder; you might use to remove old mortar and grout for the substrate and back of each tile piece? I'm remediating 11,000 sq. ft. of tile now; installed improperly in a commercial building basement that floods. Tedious work; but do-able. Steven Wolf
- Q: Should i tile right to the sub floor. Or do i leave room for a baseboard? or do i put the baseboards over top of the tile and glue them on?
- Baseboard goes on top of the tile. The tile doesn't have to run clear to the floor, but does have to come down far enough to be covered by the baseboard. Then you will have to shim the bottom of the wall to keep the base from tilting. This will leave room for nailing without hitting the tile. If the tile runs all the way to the floor, place your nails so they are going thru the grout line in between the tiles.
- Q: I recently removed some old tile in my kitchen that was bound to the floor with adhesive. I‘d like to either remove the adhesive or make that area of the floor level in order to place some stick tile. What is the best solution for this? Do I need a sealant? Should I chip up the old adhesive and then seal the floor? Thanks!
- If you are going to install any type of self stick or glue down tile the floor has to be completely smooth underneath. If not you will see ridges and grooves all over the floor. Go to your local lumber yard or tile store and get adhesive remover to remove the old glue. Then you are going to want to fill in any cracks, seams or low spots in the sub floor with 'crack fill' and sand the repairs smooth. Then seal the sub floor with a primer made for the type of tile you are going to put down and install the tile according to the manufacturers recommendations. Good Luck.
- Q: the tile is like a plastic what can i use to renstall the tile it is on the wall in the shower how long do i have to let the wall dry before putting tile back up and how long will i need to let it dry before using the shower again
- i would not invest alot of money in this type of repair job , but i have done a a few similar jobs like it using a waterproof caulk or a basic construction addhesive like liquid nails.let walls dry overnight then set with caulk or addhesive and let dry about 4 or 5 hours. drying times are usually listed on the adhesive tubes.
