Q: What is the tile?
For the decoration of the material, the ceramic tile is made of refractory metal oxide and semi-metal oxide, through the grinding, mixing, pressing, glazing, sintering process, and the formation of an acid-resistant porcelain or stone Of the building or decoration of the material, collectively referred to as tiles. The raw materials are mostly made of clay, quartz sand and so on.
Q: I am wanting to put ceramic tile at the top of my shower, where the drywall meets the shower. I have no clue where to start. What will I need? How long should this take?
Before concrete-masonry board was even invented, tiles were glued right onto drywall -- even painted drywall. There may be some new-fangled surface prep material you could get for painted drywall -- ask the dudes at Home Depot, Ace, Tru Value, or Lowes (or other hardware / home-improvement store) to see if there is some material you spread on the painted drywall to make the mastick stick better. .
Q: I have tiles around all of my kitchen and would like to cover them. Can I skim plaster over them because it would take weeks to remove them? Is there any other way round avoiding removing them? Any ideas welcome. They are driving me up the wall, literally! HELP.
Weeks? An hour should be enough to remove a good portion of them as long as you don't want to save them. Take a hammer and smash the tiles. It does work.

Q: I bought a co-op that is 80 years old and the bathroom is all original. I like the antique look of it but the tile and in the tub is grungy and has stains. I have tried Pine Sol and Comet but they haven‘t helped much. Does anyone have any advice that doesn‘t involve renting power tools and grinding the floors up?HELP.
sounds like the enamel is shot on both tub and tiles, if bleach or a professional tile cleaner will not work then you need to replace both
Q: I am making a movie for school and i need to hang things from our ceiling to the ground. The problem is is that the ceiling is an acoustic tile and i‘m not sure if it will hold enough. (This is one of the older acoustic tiles with all of the holes in them.
If it's a suspended ceiling you're talking about, with the tiles held in metal framing, you can buy special little hooks that clip on to the metal framework. You should be able to get them at Home Depot, and probably office supply stores. You can also simply use a piece of thin wire and tie that around the metal frame, squashing it in a little so the tile sits flush again. If whatever you're hanging is too heavy for that metal framework, you have to take out a tile and find something higher in the ceiling that's sturdier. The ceilings are usually suspended from pretty strong wire. Find where that wire or other support is and you know where the strong point of the suspended part is. If it's acoustic tiles over a solid surface, you have to find a structural part inside the ceiling. A stud finder will come in handy for that but unfortunately you'll have to make a hole in the tiled surface to hang anything.
Q: I want to know how to make tile based map in java. Retro games used tiled maps (to ease programming and memory management) but those games were created in assembly language. I know basic java. Now I want to make a 2d game in java, starting with a pretty basic 2d platformer type or top-down type. To do this, i need to know the technique required to make a map, a tile map.I have already searched in google and youtube and stack overflow, but none helped much. What I learnt is that I have to make some tile object and make a 2 dimensional matrix to store position of particular tiles. But this does not helped much. Thank you.P.S. there are many programs available on the internet for making tile maps, and also there are game making softwares and also libraries. i do not want to use any of those since i want to make my game with whatever java provides. Thank you. Also forgive my poor english.
first of all, you need to build different densities of 2D tile arrays according to how much of the map will be in the viewport at any given time. For example, a map at neighborhood level will need a gazillion more tiles than a map at the county level. Then, you need a way of converting the geographic reference at the center of the viewport to the tile that is covered at that zoom level, and for finding the adjacent tiles as well. Then, you'll need to calculate what parts of which tiles you are using will need to be clipped and by how much. Build a canvas using this information. As the map moves, you'll need to add on more adjacent tiles, and discard others, update the clipping, etc.
Q: I have a kitchen that currently has 20X20 tile The kitchen has 40 tilesWhat is the square feet of the kitchen?
to determine the square footage of your kitchen, it might be easier to measure the length and the width of your room and then multiply it....for instance if you have a kitchen which is 10ft X 15 ft.....the square footage is 150 sq. feet.....
Q: currently have vinyl tile glued to concrete on grade. Want to install bamboo floor / engineered wood. Can we go on top of existing vinyl?
Possibly. The vinyl tile must be well installed (not coming loose or bubbling or open seams, etc.). If the vinyl tile is a no wax or smooth surface, it may still need to be prepped with a palm sander and 80 grit just enough to give it some tooth. And finally, make certain to contact both manufacturers' reps or technical services to make certain that the new glue is compatible with both the vinyl and the bamboo... and to make certain that this endeavor will not void your warranty. Good luck.
