- Q: no power to brown trailer wire
- Brown wire is for brake light and right turn signal. There won't be power on this wire unless the brake pedal is pushed down (steady voltage) or the right turns signal is turned on (intermittent voltage/no voltage) If there should be voltage and there is none then you have loose/broken wiring or blown fuses.
- Q: I want to make wire art but I'm not sure what type of wire to use
- They also sell rolls of other wire, click on metals in the top sequence, choose one then choose wire.
- Q: i know what spark plugs are but what are plug wires and the purpose of getting them. what do the plug wires do? someone told me that it was time to get spark plugs and plug wires replaced on my 2000 impala.
- if they have never been replaced, yes it is a good idea, they transfer the[spark] to the spark plugs [hi energy] so they do wear out.
- Q: I hooked up my Klipsch floor speakers with the old-cheapy wire and then bought, I think it was monster cable, and bi wired it. Big sound improvement. But I've heard pros and cons on monster cable. I have three zones to wire in my house. If I bi wire the other two zones what's the best wire to get? You can spend a small fortune on wire. If I bi wire, zone 2 would be 30 feet x 4 and zone 3 50 feet x 4. I read that if one of the wires is silver it's better as silver's the best conductor. This I knew already. But, when I bought the wire that I did, it didn't state anywhere on the label that it contained silver and I think that would be a drawing point. In fact, I didn't see any wire at that store that said it was part silver and it wasn't Walmart but a major electronics store. I did see some that had silver colored strains but so is steel and aluminum. I also read on another forum that CAT 5 wire works well for bi wiring? Thoughts? Opinion?
- They colour the wire by plating it. The silver is one conductor colour and the other wire is copper colour. Separate strands. This is so that you can keep the polarity straight when you are hooking up your system. You will also notice a raised ridge on the insulation of on conductor in two conductor wiring. Again it is a mark to let you tell the + from the - wires. Silver wire would be a good conductor, but much more expensive than copper and about equal in current flow. It would also corrode more and make for connection problems.
- Q: I have two low voltage wires that run from one side of a building to another. The insulation on both wires is the same color. I eventually just walked an additional wire around the building and checked continuity. Is there an easier way to differentiate between the two wires?
- 1. At one side of the building mark the two wires. 2. Connect a battery to the two ends noting which is positive. 3. Go to the other side of the building and use your voltmeter to determine which wire end is positive. Mark that one the sameas you did the other end of the positive wire.
- Q: How much wire is required?
- Length of wire is L = R*A/p SI units must be used, so convert radius to meters: r = 0.0254 / 64 m using 25.4mm = 1 inch r = 3.969*10^-4 m (0.3969mm) So cross-sectional area is A = pi*(3.969*10^-4)^2 m^2 A = 4.95*10^-7 m^2 The average resistivity of nichrome is p = 1.1*10^-6 ohm-meter So the required length of wire is L = 2.2 ohm * 4.95*10^-7 m^2 / 1.1*10^-6 ohm-meter L = 0.990 m
- Q: i'm building a race car out of a buick century and the tail lights wires got cut, come to find out the fuel pump ties into the talight wiring harness, i found the wires going to the fuel pump but i'm not sure what is what, there's 4 wires going to it, black, black with a white strip, gray, and pur any ideas what is what please so i can just run a switch to the fuel pump... thanks
- Examine the wires at the fuel pump junction on top of the fuel tank. I'd bet one of the wires is the GREY wire. Another way you can determine which is which, get a Digital Volt Meter (DVM) and turn on the lights. Check to see which line has power. That's the line for the tail lights. Then have someone step on the brake pedal. Another wire should go hot (have voltage on the DVM). Slowly you will be able to figure out which wire does what. The left over wires (likely two) are for the fuel pump. Good luck. :)
- Q: could someone teach or explain to me how to hook up the 1st one, i do not understand what is happening there. How do you connect thoes wires to the main wire??? the distribution?
- Ok, first thing you want to do is, for each subwoofer, wire a negative and positive together. You can use regular speaker wire to do that (well you're supposed to anyway). After that, you will have a negative and positive terminal left on each subwoofer. What you need to do is run a speaker wire from each of the terminals, so you have 6 different wires from 6 separate terminals. Make note of the 3 positive wires and the 3 negative wires. Now what you do is simply twist together the 3 positive wires together, so you have 1 positive wire. Connect that positive wire to the positive terminal of the amp (if it's a 1 channel amp. If it's a 2 channel, connect it to a bridged channel on the positive terminal. Or however you want.) Do the same for the 3 negative wires. Twist them together to have 1 negative wire, and connect it to the negative terminal on the amp. Finished! That kind of wiring is called Series wiring, by the way. The other kind is called Parallel wiring.
- Q: i just got two new aiwa stereo speaker's they come with their own wiring in the back but i dont know which wire is whatthere is one black wireand there is another black with gray dashesim thinking the one with dashes is positive?the speaker works both ways
- Chances are the marked wire is positive. For your purposes it doesn't matter a whole lot. The phasing (which DOES matter) will be correct as long as you are consistent with both speakers. If you can remove the front grill or otherwise see the speaker cone directly, you can check the polarity with a AA or other 1-1/2 volt battery. The cone will move forward when the positive wire is *briefly* touched to the positive terminal of the battery while the negative wire is held on the negative terminal. If you see it move back, you've connected the wires in reverse. Don
- Q: wic iring codes for turner plus three wired to uniden washington cb radio
- Typically there are 3 wires. The shild is ground. Of the remaining two wires, one is push-to-talk and the other is the audio lead. Find the push-to-talk (switch) lead by checking continuity from the shield to each of the other two wires. On one of the remaining two, there will be continuity when the mic is keyed. That is the switch lead, and the other one is audio.
