Q:I am getting a cement porch build on the back of my house. I am interested in knowing what is the cost or average cost of a 12 feet by 10 feet porch being build. They will use bricks, mold the cement slab on top, and make a 4 feet sidewide walk to my garage from the steps. The porch will be 2 feet high from the ground.
Have you considered calling a company or two for some prices for a porch that is 120 sq. ft and walk that measures so long ...
Q:I know this is a funny question but my friend and i have wondered this. Thanks and God Bless!
Gravel. Usually when you run over gravel it spits out the side or back of the road, eventually it moves so far away from road traffic, it never gets run over again. Luck and care,
Q:please i need help cause i don't know y we r doing this experiment in the first place any one ?
You sure it is called cement motors. I know tensile strength of cement briquettes ( used to test the strength of cement in to know if satisfactory for gripping on to rebar) , but sorry never heard tensile of cement motors. Try typing the exact question you were given.
Q:I am replacing a kitchen floor with tile. When I ripped up the existing floor there was plywood in great shape. Do I really need to lay cement board down beofre tiling? What could happen if I dont?
I have neighbors that tried to cut a few corners and not lay the cement board. Floor looked fantastic after hours and hours of them carefully laying it and grouting. Floor look like hell in a year. Chipped cracked, loose and shifted tiles. They had to rip it all up and do it right...The second time due to how much they outlayed on the first tiles they put down the cement board and cheep fugly tiles. Never had an issue with them.
Q:I'm trying to replace the water supply turn valve under my bathroom sink. Whoever installed it put a yellow cement (plumbers cement?) on the threads between the nuts and the body of the valve. Is there a solvent that will dissolve the cement? All I can tell you about the cement is that it's yellowish in color. Here's a picture of the type of valve I have.
if the reason ur changing the valve is because it's not working, then don't change it, replace the stem only, behind handle loosen nut, turn stem counter clockwise till it comes out, do same w/new valve, put new stem in old valve, just make sure you remove any remains of old washer. I do this all the time, it's saves time and a lot of trouble and the outcome is the same. As far as cement goes, it maybe rectorseal #5 oilbase pipe thread compound since the valve you showed has compression connections on in and out sides.
Q:Is cement heavier when it's wet or when it's dry?Say, i have enough cement to make one cement block, would it be heavier when it's wet or when it dries into the block. Or would it weigh the same amount?(just wondering, sorry if the question seems kind of dumb)
The wet would be heavier because when the water evaporated, you would lose the weight of the water. It would have nothing to do with, if dry cement was heavier than water or visa versa. Oh yeah, a cubic fot of water weighs more than 10 pounds, water weighs 8 pounds per gallon. A cubic foot of water is 7.48 gallons and weighs 59.84 pounds.
Q:explain
so far no one has it exactly right...cement is the powder that binds mortar and cement together...mortar is cement , lime,, sand and water... concrete is cement, sand, gravel and water.. ncrete without gravel is refered to as cement also... edit_ dont just give me a thumb, prove me wrong...
Q:can you stucco over painted cement?
The paint will not make a good substrate for the stucco and there is a chance that either the stucco will not properly bond to the paint, or the paint will delaminate under the stucco in the future. Would be better to have the paint blasted off the concrete first.
Q:There is no mosaics cement in our country..... Advice me please
(A)For outdoor work the ideal adhesive to use is cement based. Either a cement based tile adhesive or a sand and cement mix. Of course the tile adhesive MUST be both water-proof and frost-proof. Cement base adhesives can be bought in bags from 2kg up to 22kg. They must be mixed to a firm consistency and applied to a dry surface. Your mosaic tiles are then pressed into the mortar to give a good contact. Work with a small amount at a time as you will normally have about 20 minutes working times with each batch. To help improve the flexibility and adhesive properties of the mortar add a plasticizer or polymer additive to the mix one part additive to two parts water. This is the preferred mix if you are making a mosaic for a predominantly wet location. Add this to the cement until the required consistency is reach. If using sand and cement mix use the ratio 3 or 4 parts fine sand to 1 part Portland cement. Mix thoroughly and add water. Mix to the required consistency. It is advisable to wear gloves whenever you are dealing with cement based products. To improve the adhesive and strength properties of the mortar, the setting time should ideally be long and slow. So if you can cover each days work with a polythene sheet to protect the work and help the setting.
Q:I have a question about subfloor and tiling.. our kitchen and dining room are connected, and our dining room has hardwood floor and the kitchen just has a lineolm currently.. we are remodeling our kitchen and tiling.. we know the correct thing to do is lay down a cement backer board, our question is, do we take up the current subfloor? im afraid if we dont that once we put the cement board down and then the tile down, THEN the kitchen floor will be higher than the dining room.. so, again, taking the current subfloor off, and just seeing the original floor boards that run diagonally (i know it does that from looking from the basement up).. and then lay the cement board on there, and then the tile, can that be done?? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!!
