The steps of window construction:
Aluminum or PVC (UPVC) window is being made from Aluminum or UPVC profile, window accessories and glass.
To produce an Aluminum or PVC window you have to do the following steps:
Cut the profiles (Aluminum or uPVC Profile, reinforcement and Glazing bead)
Put reinforcement profile inside the uPVC profiles
Screw reinforcement profile into PVC profile
End mill the mullions
Open holes for door handles, sash fastener channels and espagnolette
Weld uPVC profile or Crimping Aluminum profile
Clean the welded corners of uPVC windows

- Q: I just had my 30 yr old storm windows replaced with nice double pain, double glazed, argon filled windows in November. HUGE IMPROVEMENT! But now that i am used to comfort level and energy savings that these windows have made to my home. I find myself looking for the tiny amounts of cool air that penetrates into my home. And I still have this habit of wanting to put plastic over my windows. Do you think adding the plastic now would be overkill? Or would the energy savings still out way the cost of the plastic this first week on January?

- hi ..i would try hand cleaner like mechanics use. just rub it on and leave it for a half hour, then wash off with soap and water. i use this for all kinds of stains. u can buy it at canadian tire or walmart. good luck.
- Q: We live in an old, very poorly insulated house, and it's very drafty/cold during the winter. We've tried two-sided insulating tape that you put in the window sills, caulk strips that you put around the frame, etc. and none of it works. Is it worth the money to buy the plastic that you can put over the outside of your windows? The draft seems to be coming from where the window itself meets the sill, but also around the perimeter of the window (where the edging/molding is attached to the wall). I've read a few articles online about quot;how toquot; install plastic, but they all say that the plastic comes in kits and you need to attach it with the included double sided tape to your wooden window frame. our house is brick and there's not much of a frame outside. What little wood there is has been painted over many times, and I doubt tape would stick to it. Should I try to do it anyway? Is it worth the cost?
- You can caulk around the windows first. That should have been done at instalation. If you need to, you can use 100% silicone to adhear the plastic to plastic and it is easily removed in the spring. Do a test section and let it cure for 48 hours and see how it holds and removes. I never did it but I do alot of caulking. If you dont seal the draft, no matter what you do, it will eventually blow off.

- If you're asking about plastic that can be used like glass panes, it is available in 4'X8' sheets at Lowes or HomeDepot. Fairly inexpensive. Cutting can be done on a table saw with a fine tooth blade, BUT, must be cut slowly as it will tend to melt from heat at the cut and stick together. File or sand off any rough edges that remain. If you're speaking of plastic sheeting, it comes in rolls about 10' wide. Available at same stores.

- The best thing to do is go to a marine supply store they have special products to clean and take the haze off plastic windows which are used on boat side curtains. Provided your windows are soft plastic.

- You can apply Duck Roll-On 3-Window Film or 3M window insulation Kit this product will increase the insulation value in your windows. You can purchase this product at your local hardware store.

- Duct tape is not worth the paper the bill is printed on. Try to keep it in a garage or put a tarp over it until Wednesday.
