Q:I need to use quot;insulated copper wireor quot;enamel covered copper wirefor a project...I used normal copper wire and obviously it failed. Can this be like normal copper wire with plastic/rubber coating around it, similar to electrical wire? Or is it something special?
For using in 60 c/s electric power purpose, NO difference . For using in very high frequency coil ,YES ,there is difference.
Q:THERMOSTAT WIRING
What Sickwillie said.
Q:How could you relate greater wire length resulting in greater resistivity to the context of home
Greater wire length will certainly give you a higher resistance. Since heat is measured in watts, and watts (W) =I^2R, where I=Current and R= resistance, then if you double the resistance of a wire (by making it twice as long) you also double the ammount of watts lost in the wire. Since watts equates to heat, this ammount of heat will make the wire hotter. If you use an extension lead, and wind it round a drum, it can get very hot indeed.
Q:im installing lights in my car and it says i need a 12v wire. can i use somthing more then a 12v wire? im hooking it right from my battery. what other wires can i use?
If it says 12 volt wire, it just means you need to supply the lights with 12 volts. Depending on how much power the lights pull, will depend on how thick the wire should be. If it is saying to use 12 gauge wire, well, then use some 12 gauge wire.
Q:Is there anything else I could use to solder things without buying whole long spool of soldering wires? I mean like the wire inside the TV antenna cable from 99c store or nails and etc. ? Something I could use single time.
wire glue is not a good alternative to soldering but may temporally work best bet is to solder it go to any hardware store, walmart, target, kmart to get a soldering iron
Q:How do you wire an electrical outlet and light switch in a bathroom? Box is existing, wires existing.
The first trick is to identify the wires. White wires will normally be neutral; there will be at least two colored or black wires, one of which will be the hot supply wire. Use a neon tester ($2 at a hardware store) to idenify which. If all of the white wires were tied together, then the switch will simply connect the two colored wires to each other; brush these together to verify that the light flashes. Now turn off the power at the breaker box. Connect the hot supply wire to a brass screw on the outlet, and attach a 6 piece of black wire to the other brass screw. Connect the joined white wires to a nickel-plated screw (you may need a wire nut and short piece of white wire to do this). Connect the short black wire to one of the screws on the switch, and the existing black wire to the other screw. And that should do it. Note that a double-width box is necessary for this. Code requires that a GFCI device be used in all bathroom outlets. If there is not one in the breaker box servicing the line to the bathroom, you should use a GFCI outlet device (about $12) rather than a conventional outlet. You can get a cover plate to match.
Q:Please help,I have a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee LaredoThe wire harness on the hitch has 7 wires,The whole thing is shot,My Question is can i just wire in a 4 prong harness, On my trailer yellow is left turn-green is right turn-brown is stop tail, white is ground The Jeep has 7 wires a green-a tan- a brown w green stripe-a blue w red stripe-a red w blue stripe and a bigger light blue and a bigger black, can i splice into these or do i have to get a converter of some sort ,Any idea'sTHANK YOU
Not sure about Jeep's color code. If I were doing this job, I'd just use a test light. Turn on left turn signal, find the wire that's flashing (w/test light), butt splice the yellow wire. Do this with three wires yellow, green, black. Green for right turn, and black for tail. White is the ground. Brake lights go thru turn signal switch so no worry there, uses same filament as turn signal. Black is hot with headlights on. (BTW brown is Clarence lights, not to be combined with red, stop lights).
Q:The application is a bathroom light and exhaust fan combination. The fixtures wires are thiner than the supply wires. Should I wrap the thinner wire around the thicker wire or should I wrap them equally around each other? Then can I put a drop of solder on before I put the wire nut. Or is solder not a good idea?
Solder is unnecessary. Be sure to use the proper sized wire nut, and twist the wires together. after you install the wire nut, give each wire a slight tug to ensure that they are securely connected. Hope this helps.
Q:thin wire to make fishing tackle that sharks cannot bite
Buy in store. Help if know what talking about.
Q:What's the difference between stainless steel wire and steel wire?
The stainless steel spring wire is usually hard, and it is cold drawn with larger wire diameter difference. Stainless steel bright wire is usually medium hard, it is normal cold drawing and cold drawing. Light drawing of stainless steel is usually in soft medium, which is cold drawing with smaller line diameter difference. The stainless steel wire is usually soft, which is annealed by hydrogen pipe after drawing, and the product has a roof shape after annealing.
