- Q: i have an area of tile covering one corner of my bedroom in my rented flat - will wallpaper stick to it?
- Instead okorder /... Behind the tv is fabric wrapped plywood with an added wood frame.
- Q: What are the dimensions of the tile?
- There are many common types of tile are proportional to the 300X300 600X600 800X800 and 1000X1000. Ceramic tile size 300X300 300X450 300X600 there are 100X100. Ask more, why should we know the size of the problem? The Generally this will not be a problem. There are any indoor and outdoor space decoration problems continue to ask
- Q: My new home has a kitchen with glazed ceramic tiles covering most of the walls. The colour is basically honey brown, but there‘s a hideous purple border (in the same tile size shape) running horizontally vertically all over the place - I‘d say that 20% of the tiles are this colour.I want to reduce all the tiles to one (new) colour. Two guys (both pros) have this to say:GUY 1: Cheapest solution (and least noisy/disruptive) is to use a ‘glass enamel paint‘ over the tiles. I went online and found several manufacturers of this stuff.GUY 2: Scoffed at this and said there was no other way than retiling the whole kitchen.Guy 1 is adamant that it can be done, and the job will last if enough care is taken in preparing the surface. Is he right?Has anyone tried this ‘re-enamelling‘ technique, and were the results OK?Thanks!
- After,,,and still, installing thousands of square feet of tile, and painting thousands of gallons of paint,,, ID NEVER MIX THE TWO. Tile is glass essentially. Test this. Take any paint type you wish, paint some on a spare tile piece, and let it cure,,,no matter glass paint etc,,, sigh. Once it's cured,,, purposely, but even gently, cause abrasions with a coffee mug, drag your toaster oven over it. Stack your dinner dishes on it, etc etc etc. I promise you,,,paint will come off, at some rate, and in some amount of time. Beyond all that, PAINT on any surface where food might come in contact with it, is a bad idea. It will likely be more expensive initially, but as you celebrate your next birthday, then one 5 years from now, NEW tile, or any other counter top substance, will still be there, probably NOT marred. Do you want to touch up paint? Do you want any extra effort to detract from the normal use of the kitchen, or any free time you might have? RE-Enameling is also a way for the manufacturer to gain profit. Rev. Steven
- Q: HiIs there an adhesive that can be used to spot repair Vinylfloor tiles 18x18 on a basment floor?
- Lowes or Home depot has all this stuff in their tile section. I seen it when I bought the adhesive for the hardwood floor I put in. Good Luck!
- Q: 12x12 tiles, what size trowel do i use and how far apart do i space tiles?
- For a standard tile (such as most 12x12) the use of a 1/4x3/8 ths square notched trowel. 99.9% of all 12x12 will require a sanded grout,NEVER an unsanded grout. This has to do with both tile thick ness , water absorption, tile body hardness and grout line size. You shouldn t use a grout line less than 3/16 any way for this size tiles. And any grout line over 1/8 , a sanded grout must be used any way. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
- Q: I am looking at putting the self stick vinyl tiles in my new addition. It has a concrete floor and I was wondering if the vinyl will have a hard time sticking to the concrete. Do I need some type of sub-floor? I am wondering this mainly because we live in iowa were is can get pretty cold in the winter and I didn‘t know if that would affect the stickyness.
- I think your bigger problem would be moisture. If this is in a basement there's a good chance that moisture could seep beneath the tiles and make the glue separate. A subfloor will significantly add to the cost, but it would keep the basement warmer, and lessen the chance of damage to the tiles. Be sure you build the subfloor out of treated wood though, or you could have rot/termites/many more problems.
- Q: We are using some leftover floor tile (6x6 size) and some new decorative tile (2x2 and 1x1) to tile our backsplash. Can we use the same mortar that we used on the floor? Also, we used a 1/4 inch notched trowel when doing the floor -- should we use a smaller notch for the backsplash (say, a 1/8 inch notched trowel)? Finally, the floor tile and the 1x1 tiles are porcelain. The 2x2 tile is tumbled travertine with quite a few pits on the surface. We don‘t know if we should fill those pits with grout or not. On one hand -- it will make the tiles easier to clean if they are filled (yes?). On the other, we like the look of the pits and don‘t know if we want the grout (which is a slightly darker color) filling the pits. Any suggestions?
- use the same tools, dont fill the pits on the tiles, it'll look bad, use the same tile adhesive too if youve got any left.
- Q: The difference between tiles and tiles.
- When firing two different temperatures, As the variety of tiles on the market now, businesses in order to reduce the cost of quality are mostly poor, so I personally think. Often the tiles on the market are stronger than the tiles.
- Q: Which is good for acid resistant tiles
- It is widely used in petrochemical, metallurgy, electric power, chemical fiber, paper making, pharmaceutical, fertilizer, food, dairy industry, fruit juice, electroplating, electroplating, and so on. As well as towers, tanks, tanks, tanks and other anti-corrosion works, and in the underground sewage and open air and other workplaces have played an important role.
- Q: What is the finish height of tile after grout and tile??? For example if I were to lay tile how much would it bring up the floor?? 1half inch???
- I answered a similar question to this a couple of weeks ago. I just put in approximately 300 sq feet of ceramic tile in new construction. Using 5/16 cement board screwed to sub floor. The finished height is approximately 3/4. This includes the cement board, thinset mortar and tile. There are multiple ways of increasing the thickness, like put layer of thinset down before installing cement board (adds approx 1/8) or use multiple layers of cement board you can get it from 1/4 to 3/4. Use more or less thin set under tile. Best to measure the thickness of tile and cement backer board. Then add in 1/8 to 1/4 inch for thin set to get approx thickness.
