Q: I have a carrier thermostat with red, green, yellow, white and blue wires. Bought a new honeywell, omly has red, green, yellow and white terminals. What do I do with the blue wire. Right now it is connected to rc with no jumper, but nothing works.
This is an educated guess, even though we don't know how the furnace is wired. In many cases, the blue wire is used for C (common). Tape off or snip off the end of the blue wire and don't use it. Put the red wire on the RC terminal. Jump RC to R or RH if you have heat. Connect the other wires to their corresponding terminals. If blue is common, there's a good chance you blew the fuse on the control board (if your air handler has one) and/or you fried the transformer. That is, if you tried turning on the A/C.
Q: Can you swap out a 1984 Porsche 944 wiring harness with a different car's wiring harness? If which car. Thank you.
Could it be done by someone with tons of experience? Sure, but why would you? You would spend hours upon hours patching things and cross connecting. The fact that you are asking this question means you don't have an iota of mechanical or wiring experience making the point moot. So for you? No. You can not swap out the harness for some different cars wiring harness.
Q: wiring has ceramic poles
You need to replace the wiring. Be care-full, if the old wiring has insulation on it, it most likely is asbestos.
Q: I have this ipod cord in my car to play music off of, and at first it started cutting out. I would move the wire in a specific spot to a position to where it would work. Then eventually it just stopped working all together, so im assuming the wires inside have been damaged. Now as i said before in a specific spot so im pretty positive i know where it is broken at, but ive never actually spliced a wire, or soldered before. This is where i need help. What tools and materials will i need to fix the wire? Also, how would i fix it? Thanks for the help in advance!
The wires in those little patch cords and headphones and stuff are often very fine and hard to splice or solder. You could get you some wire cutters and wire strippers and a soldering iron and some electrical tape or shrink wrap and go at it, but it would probably be just as well to get another cord.
Q: Ceiling light junction box has 2 wires (black and white on both). One of the two is hot (always juiced). The other of the two travels down the wall to the switch junction box, and this is the only wire in this junction box. When I connect the two blacks and the two whites of the ceiling junction box, the switch wires become juiced. But when I try to hook up a switch to those switch wires, the switch doesn't cut the power to the ceiling junction box when I flip the switch on and off. Why?? -very frustrated.
You should check your building code in your area even though 12/2 is the most common allowed wire for homes some juridictions require 10/2 which is a larger gage wire. If you do not use what is code than if it causes a fire your insurance may not pay due to you usse a wire that is not up to code
Q: one single coil pickup (white wire and bare wire)and one volume pickupidk how to do it thought it would be simple but obviously notdiagrams would be awesome
Are you experienced in this sorta section? i could easily propose that in case you recognize somebody who can try this sorta stuff no difficulty, ask them to take you thru it step via step.. besides the undeniable fact that the mixture sounds good besides the undeniable fact that, I fairly like the sound of that..good success and satisfied enjoying :)
Q: i have a 2004 Isuzu Rodeo I cannot find the wiring harness color codes for it. i need the Left Rear positive negative colors the Right Rear positive negative colors. Thank You.
GOOD LUCK... Isuzu cars and trucks are discontinued and the only Isuzu dealers still opened are big trucks like the NPR box trucks... unless you find someone online like a former Isuzu tech, not sure if you will get any schematics
Q: i am installing a headunit, i connected all the wires the match, but i have some left over that i am confused about. from the wires that plug into the radio there is the antenna wire, the remote wire, and the ground with a washer to screw it down, and from the other is set of wires is a solid orange wire, which i have no idea where it goes to. so i connected the remote to the orange wire and didn't hook up the antenna to anything, and bolted down the ground wire. I'm wondering why i have 2 ground wires, and what the orange wire is and what do i connect to it?
The orange wire may be an illumination wire that controls the illumination or brightness of the head unit's lights when the car's headlights are turned on. You have two grounds because one is a chassis ground used to ground the metal frame on your head unit to the car's ground. Your head unit may or may not have an input for the illumination wire, in which case you need to remove it. I would also ground the head unit's frame using the second ground wire. Try looking online for the pinouts for your particular car's factory head unit. This will take the guesswork out of the install.
Q: Just bought a new amp for my truck. The speaker outputs needs to be indiviually wired to the door speakers. Do you splice into the speaker wire or the trucks harness?
ideally you want to wire directly from the amp to the door speakers with new speaker wire but doing this properly requires removing some of the trimming and passing the new wires throughout the car. you can also take the easier route and pass the wires from your amp up under the steering wheel behind the center console and splice them into the existing wires going to the door speakers. as long as the wattage isn't very high the latter shouldn't be a problem. however, if it were up to me i would use new wires and pass them throughout the car, removing the trimmings, etc. this can be somewhat of a pain to do if you have never done it before though.
Q: tryin to move dryer approx 8 more feet but existing wire not long enough have 12/2 wire can that be used to run 220 dryer
Really shouldn't use no. 12 wire on an electric dryer...No. 10 is usually the mininum wire size as long as its not more than 30 or 40 Ft.
