- Q: I want to get an underground fence but i cant figure out what the difference in the wire they use and regular insullated wire. What is the difference and why can't i use regular wire instead of the wire that comes with the kit
- The okorder
- Q: When making pc boards with microcontrollers, oscillators, etc.. What is the right kind of wiring to use? Specifically:What material (e.g. copper)? What thickness? What brand?Where to buy? What's the difference between the stiff wire and easily bendable wire? Thanks.
- I don't mean to piggyback on his question but I'm also doing a project. Making a solar phone charger... My first project really but I have one solar panel 5V max output, but when soldered only gives out 2.8... Sending it to a mini buck booster but that needs at least 2.6 to work. I am just using simple stranded speaker wire, and admittedly the soldering skill needs work. But what kind of wire would I use
- Q: I am trying to hook up my motorcycle turn signals but am having trouble with the wiring. Off of each signal stem comes a red wire (positve) and black wire (negative). Then coming form my bike I have a purple wire, blue wire, and green wire. I was messing around with the connections and was able to get all my signals to light up, but not in the fashion i need, like blinking correctly. Any suggestions? Do I need to split the wires? Does one wire go to the left signal and one to the right?
- Does the flasher work? Are you using two filament bulbs? The green wire is a ground. The blue and purple sound like HD wiring, one is for blinkers, and one for running lights.
- Q: Which television show is better, Oz or the Wire? Why?
- ox because its more drama filled and most characters won't changed unless killed
- Q: How do electric and other companies decide on strung wires in consideration of snowfall?
- Snowfall is nothing...even birds on a wire add more weight than that. And like BillRussel said, the core is a steel wire for tensile strength that will handle the biggest force which is wind. Since electricity flows around outside a conductor better than going thru the core, it makes sense for them to surround the steel core with a lightweight , cheap, conductor like aluminum which only has to worry about conducting current and not with strength issues.
- Q: You have been given two samples of wire: one nichrome, one aluminum. Describe a procedure you could use to determine which sample was nichrome and which was aluminum
- first, knowing the resistance of each wire (i dont know it, you need to look it up) i would set up a circuit to put out [X] amt of current (the amt of the lowest resistance in the wires) and run the current thru the wires to a light bulb. if the bulb doesnt light, you now have figured out that this is the wire with the most resistance (again i dont know which has a higher one) for clarification- aluminum resistance = X nichrome resistance = y circuit with current EQUAL to resistance of the lowest wire (for example if X was lowest with 3 ohms, you would set the current to however many amps/volts are required to overcome that) and then connect it to a bulb. when its turned on, if the bulb doesnt light, you have determined that it isnt wire X but wire Y. even more simply, just list the wires by their resistance. if X=3 ohms, Y= 4 ohms, and the bulb doesnt light at 3, you have determined that its wire Y. im assuimng you would have the resistance of the wires? this is how i would do it, but if thats the right way? i dunno. but it is one way.
- Q: when installing two subwoofers to an amp, can just normal speaker wires work or do I need any special wires to hook the subs to the amp?
- Actually, 16g can literally handle thousands of watts. Use 18 or 16g, anything larger than that is a waste of money
- Q: As in quot;I saw this pop up over the wireor quot;it came across the wire from Livingstonquot;.
- by telegraph or similar communication
- Q: I always see birds hang on the wires but never get fried how do they do. It?
- The wire has less resistance than the bird. If the wire were to be cut and the bird were to place one foot on each wire, then the bird would get electrocuted.
- Q: My home is wired for the thermostats with two wires (red and white). I have acquired a new thermostat that requires a Red, White, and Common wire. Using the white wire in that position will power the unit up but it won't trigger the heat. Is there something that can be put in line that will allow this thermostat to work without rewiring the house?
- 2 wire is milivoltjust scrap off varnish off wires and try again dc voltage produces varnish on wires prevents heater from firing
