Q: I added a doorway in a wall that had wiring for my baseboard heaters. There are three heaters on the circuit. I used 12/2 wire to splice. Now the heater next to the splice works fine but the heater in the next room on the same circuit barely warms up and only when the heater next to the splice is not on. The original wire looks larger than the 12/2 I used to splice. It is the same romex shape but stiffer. Could this be 10/2 wire? The breaker is 20 amp. Could this be why the heater at the end of the circuit barely warms and only when the other heater is not on? Solution??
The answer to your question is no. Not if you use the correct diameter wire. What ever wire is there is the size i would use. Using a smaller diameter will cause more resistance which is what you don't want. Go to any hardware store and get a wire gage and measure the pre-exhisting wire . Get her done right.
Q: What is the difference between copper and cable used in electrical equipment? Best detail, thank you
The amplifier is connected to the speaker cable, and the other parts are connected using an audio signal cable (microphone cable). Audio signal line also known as the microphone line, you can use the lotus head, Cannon head, big Samsung, and other different connector connection. Audio signal line refers to the kind of input and output balance signal with a shielded signal line (usually replaced by a microphone cable) to connect the front and power amplifier, balanced line. It is used to transmit the signal, is the carrier of the signal. It transmits signals in two distinct ways. The cable itself can transmit signals, or the cable can transmit the energy emitted by the external signal source. Speaker line for connecting the amplifier and speakers, which flow the current signal is much larger than the video cable and audio lines mentioned above, because the signal amplitude is very large, this line is often no shield, for this wire, the key is to reduce Its resistance, because the output impedance of modern amplifier is very low, so the requirements of the speaker line also increased, such as the use of large cross-sectional area or stranded strand.
Q: An incoming cable (line) is connected to a standard receptacle with the hot (black) wire attached to the upper screw (brass) and the white (common) wire attached to the lower screw (silver). The outgoing cable (load) is attached to the other two screws in the same manner. In my limited residential experience, the line cable will be attached to opposing screw contacts (upper 2 screws) with the second cable (load) attached to the bottom two contact screws on a standard electrical receptacle. In what conditions would these cable contacts be split like this? I have a short along this circuit somewhere and I am wondering if this is the problem?
It doesn't matter how its wired on a standard outlet as long as the white is going to silver and black to brass.A lot of times shorts happen due to devices that are plugged into the outlets. It is rare for an outlet to short. You can check for a shorted outlet by powering down the circuit by turning off the circiut breaker and then disconnect the wires on the outlet. measure the resistance between the prongs of the outlet or the silver and brass screws. It should measure open.
Q: I was just doing some investigating to my home's electrical setup, on curiosity. I noticed that I have a room with two electric heat panels, each rated at 2548W. They are on 12AWG wire, and a 20A breaker. I did the math, and came up with a total current draw of 21.23A. How come my breaker isn't tripping? And is this a fire hazard?
it's marginal. But really rated at 2548 watts? usually they are rated at a more even number, as the power rating is not that exact, certainly not to 1 part in 2000. Where did you get this number? Similarly 21.23 amps is too exact for the conditions. also, your voltage could be lower than 120 volts, which lowers the current. So this is a homework problem? 20 amp breakers will trip very fast for a 100 amp oveload, and fairly fast for, say 30 amps. But for a value only 8% over the limit? they may never trip. Again, it's marginal, but OK. I'd want a better reading on the power rating of the heaters, and the voltage rating. .
Q: I live in a building that was built in 1928. Much of the original wire is still in use, Recently, I tried to install a new ceiling fixture but the wire was so old that when I touched the cloth insulation some of it literally turned to dust. (As a result, I called an electrician to replace the wire and install the light.) In the early 1970s, the building was upgraded with circuit breakers and some new wire, but does the old wire need to be replaced? Is it a fire hazard?
It isn't so much the wires, but in old installations they put connecting boxes between floor and ceiling, where things like wood shavings, sawdust and paper were often left after building work. This was believed to be the cause of a number of house fires when connections got loose and sparks flew. Modern wiring has all connections in boxes which are accessible. In the uk modern installations should be certified safe, and if part of the wiring is old, you will not have a fully dertified installation, and this has implications not only for fire safety, but also for for insurance claims. it is best to get new wiring for ALL the installation. Old wiring is best removed, if not for safety reasons, then at least so that in the future an electrician will not be wondering if old wiring is still connected somewhere.
Q: I Just bought a house and in the bathroom are exposed electrical wires that should be hooked into an outlet. I just want to safely cover the wires and out them in the wall. How do i do this? I was thinking wire nuts, but are those not for connecting two wires together?
By you comment you just showed me how much you do not know therefore anything you do could electrocute you. To be gin with there are wire nuts that can not only be used to bind two wires together, three wires together and so on. suggest you talk to several friends who may of had experience in doing what you need done, have them do it for you and you watch and learn how to do it the next time around
Q: Today looked at the TV room wall rang a bit no electricity and then looked at the nearest place from the safe box there are electricity where other places are no electricity I think it should be the wall of the living room wall out of the question how to determine the location of the problem The More
Digital Television? You say is the flat-panel TV ah is generally by the source, or similar keys
Q: My family is this year's new cover of the color steel room, used in the old house when they are relatively thin wires, electricity is very normal every month, but a move to a new house when the electricity that month A bit too much, or the same electricity habits or those appliances how the monthly electricity will be so much? Where is the place where there is leakage and our home with a rough relationship between the wire? Just try to use a pen, and some places are 12v some places did not show, please know how to help my friends how to analyze ah? Thank you! More

Q: I use the rosin with the solder, like DIY mp. but I do not know why the wire hit tin tin was Asia opened, and no sticky, under the novice, ask for more advice
Plastic wire belt is also known as: cable ties, cable ties, lock belt
Q: I rent a home and the power started having really bad surges last night. I called my power company and he says their end is fine. The electrician inside says there is an issue with the wiring of some sort. Is the landlord responsible for thing that got fried like my cable box and my computer?
get a surge suppressor, since a surge suppressor is not perfect, also get a UPS. That will condition the line. Next notify the landlord, he may not know that the house wiring is dangerous. If you are having problems and it is not the power company, it is a dangerous situation.
