Q: Can aluminum sheets be used in aerospace applications?
Indeed, aluminum sheets find utility in aerospace applications. The aerospace industry extensively relies on aluminum owing to its remarkable amalgamation of strength, lightweight characteristics, and corrosion resistance. It finds application in diverse aircraft components including the fuselage, wings, and structural panels, wherein reducing weight is paramount for enhancing fuel efficiency and performance. Moreover, aluminum sheets can be conveniently fabricated and molded into intricate forms, rendering them apt for a multitude of manufacturing procedures in the aerospace sector.
Q: Solid aluminum or solid wooden boxes-no glass top. Would glass make the temperature rise more quickly? (ie Solar)? Thanks.Joseph
Aluminum is a very good conductor of heat and wood is a very poor conductor of heat. If the heat source is inside the box with the food, it will heat quicker in a wooden box. If the heat source is outside the box it will heat quicker in an aluminum box. Having a glass top would be equivalent to having the heat inside the box so a wood box with a glass top will make a better solar heater.
Q: doesn't particularly need to be welding but i need to make an air tight permanent seal around 2 very thin sheets of aluminium (like .02 inches thick) i was thinking .02 inch 5052 aluminum because its the thinnest i can find but am obviously up for suggestions.
May be you can use spot welding. But may be that would not give you an air tight permanent seal. So,you can go for Hydraulic pressing as in FERRARI 599 GTO's exhaust.(QUITE EXPENSIVE to be done at personal level)
Q: Are the aluminum sheets suitable for manufacturing solar panel backings?
Yes, aluminum sheets are suitable for manufacturing solar panel backings. Aluminum is a lightweight and durable material that offers excellent corrosion resistance, making it ideal for outdoor applications like solar panels. Additionally, aluminum's high thermal conductivity helps in dissipating heat, which is beneficial for solar panels.
Q: i have a aluminum bicycle the first time i painted it i painted over the original paint(didnt know any better). The second time i sanded it down with some paint left on it. Now this time im sanding it but im using 60grit it looks good to me is 60 grit to much.
You screwed up. 60 grit should NEVER come in contact with aluminum... those scratches will never come out. NEVER have an aluminum frame sandblasted. You'll need to have it soda blasted or walnut shell blasted. You should be using 220 grit ALUMINUM OXIDE paper- it is white in color. My bet is that you are using garnet- the brown stuff, or maybe coated paper. You MUST use aluminum oxide. I have answered the question to paint a bike a hundred times. Just click on Discover and type in the words paint a bike without quotes. Theres your answer.
Q: My mother has this idea that when her boyfriend puts coals from the wood stove in aluminum containers to warm the house that inhaling the fumes can cause Alzheimer's disease later in life. I am just curious about the truth of it.
Aluminum does not, in any way, cause Alzheimers. More than 15 years ago, researchers identified higher quantities of aluminum in the brains of those with Alzheimers and even autism. It is the result of the blood-brain barrier being broken. In other words, it is a result, not a cause. Alzheimer's is currently believed to be caused by a virus as well as arterial changes in those who have diabetes (I just learned this one from my doctor last week). In other words, it is multicausal, but very likely associated with a virus. All that said, burning wood can increase your risk of respiratory problems and will make current respiratory problems worse. It is mostly problematic for children though.
Q: What types of bonds can aluminum form: Covalent, Ionic and/or Metallic?Could you post the source, I've been looking for a while now :/
I have considerable experience with adhesives of all types and for your project would suggest either 3M's Scotch Weld DP 420 or Loctite's Epoxy Weld bonding compound. Both are two part formulas and are good for bonding aluminum. Hope that helps.
Q: Are aluminum sheets suitable for chemical processing?
Aluminum sheets, indeed, prove to be fitting for chemical processing. Renowned for its superb resistance to corrosion, aluminum has gained popularity as a preferred option for tasks involving exposure to diverse chemicals. It develops a shielding oxide layer that halts further corrosion, even in demanding surroundings. Additionally, aluminum's lightweight characteristic facilitates its handling and transportation within the chemical processing sectors. Furthermore, aluminum excels as a heat conductor, enabling efficient temperature regulation during chemical reactions. All in all, when considering their corrosion resistance, lightweight composition, and commendable thermal conductivity, aluminum sheets emerge as a prudent selection for chemical processing endeavors.
Q: How many square meters does the aluminum plate engrave?
The price of aluminum sheet is calculated according to the price of aluminum ingot + processing fee (aluminum plate state), and the specific price is also different according to the size and size of aluminum sheet. If you have any questions, please ask, thank you.
Q: I know 7005 series aluminum is stronger and lighter than 6061series, but how does 7005 compare to 2014 series?
