Tell me about your experience with it.Thank you!: Since your house is newer, unless you specifically purchased carpet with flame resistance, it's going to be a synthetic material like nylon or polypropylene with a really low melting point. All of the different types have a lower melting point than wood will burn at. The question you need to ask the fireplace salesman is, what temperature does the unit emit at the base? If it's enough to melt the material, put clay bricks underneath it. Clay is a natural insulator, and you can set em up in some art deco style manner. Also little sparks have a tendency of getting in carpet and I have a woodburning fireplace in the basement, it's messy; bringing in wood brings in bugs, look up your local bugs.. So make sure you plan for keeping the carpet clean and spark-free!

Q: I have two toddlers, and needless to say my carpets get a little dirty very easily. Can anyone recommend a good carpet cleaning machine that actually gets the job done. No this is not a joke!: In the US--Usually, the carpet they remove when they replace it with the new carpet is discarded. If the owner of the home didn't care to keep it, the carpet store could take it with them. They could resell it and install it somewhere else if they found a buyer. But if they are selling it as new, and it is not, they could be sued for fraud. Some states may have specific health and safety laws prohibiting them from reselling the carpet, but I don't know of any.

Q: I want to clean my carpet but stainz and deep down dirt is a problem, is there something i can add to the water of my carpet cleaner along with the cleaner i would use to improve the results? And maybe there is a home remedy for this and something for a pre-spot cleaner to help break up the stains? Thanks for the help: White vinegar works excellent, add 1 cup to the water in your carpet cleaner, it's a natural antibacterial cleaner and deodorizer and leaves no residue behind. To remove stains, fill a spray bottle 1/2 water 1/2 vinegar and spray liberally on stain, let sit 5 mins. fold up a white cloth, lay on stain and stand on it, turn it over and repeat, open cloth and rub stain, fold cloth, repeat until cloth comes back clean. To prevent stains after cleaning the carpet, buy a can of scotch guard carpet protector ($5) and spray carpet evenly while carpet is wet, avoid walking on it til dry, spills will bead on top of the carpet for easy clean up. Vinegar aroma will dissipate totally when carpet is dry.
