- Q: I'm looking to buy one, but don't see any quality reviews, so let's see what the yahoosers say.
- Bissell have a very good one.
- Q: Anyone have any experience with a Dyson?
- You simply can't beat a Dyson. I am a bit of a clean freak and vacuum a couple of times a week. When My WindTunnel broke I did a lot of research and bought the Dyson. I was SHOCKED when I used it the first time and saw how much stuff it picked up that my previous one didn't. I have had it six months and each time it pulls up an amazing amount of stuff. It is bagless and the ads they run saying it doesnt loose suction are very much true. It is very strong and is designed to have a built in 14' (I think) extension wand which easily goes up my stairs while the vacuum itself stays at the bottom. It also does my ceiling fans with ease. My house has hardwood, tile and thick burber carpet so I know how well it works on all of them. As for price, it isn't cheap but well worth it. I shopped around and bought mine at a Bed Bath and Beyond with one of their 20% off coupons that come every couple of weeks. Hope this helps!
- Q: My husband has really long, really strong hair. We've killed quite a few vacuum cleaners with his hair (the hair wraps around the spinny thing and inevitably breaks the motor). Because of this, I'm assuming I can't get that kind of vacuum cleaner: stand up vacuum with the spinning brush. What type and/or brand of vacuum should I get?
- You can have the kind of vacuum cleaner with a spinning brush, which is the kind that works best for cleaning carpets. You just have to look after it and since you know that long hair is a problem then clean it out of the vacuum cleaner once in a while. A canister vacuum that gives you a choice between using the spinning brush or using a floor brush only might be a good choice. However, if you vacuum a carpet with just a floor brush it doesn't work that well and it doesn't matter how powerful the vacuum is. The beating action of that spinning brush is what knocks dirt out of the carpet so it can be vacuumed up. A floor brush probably won't even pick up all the hair and it definitely won't get all the dust out of the carpet. This isn't about how the machine performs. This is about you not giving the machine the maintenance it needs for the conditions it's being used in.
- Q: Special vacuum to clean oil burner
- If you're encountering soot it will pass thru the filter of most vacuum cleaners and you can end up with a mess. There is a soot sucker brand vacuum designed to vacuum soot.
- Q: I am looking to buy a vacuum cleaner, but I want a small and light one. However, I saw that it doesn't have a bag in it, and the other one has a bag but it look kinda big. Can someone please advise me any vacuum that is light, less dirty (maybe by using the bag), and cheap?
- Hoover Windtunnels are the best vacuum I have found. If you want one with good suction it has to be sort of heavy. Look on OKorder they have better deals than walmart!
- Q: Can a canister vacuum cleaner hepa filter be washed?
- I have been servicing and repairing vacuum cleaners for about 10 years now so I see a lot of filters. In my opinion even the filters that can be washed really shouldn't be unless they are a foam type material. Basically the washing doesn't really get the dirt out, what you have to consider is that the pores of the filter are super small to be able to trap particles as small as pollen and smoke and water doesn't flow well through holes this small. Also as the vacuum is running it is actually trying to pull air through the filter so the dust gets pulled in really hard and effectively gets stuck. Your vacuum will last longer by replacing the filter as it will cool the motor more effectively so while there is a cost in buying a new filter it extends the life of your vacuum hence saving you money in the long term. Hope this helps! :)
- Q: I hear great things about there products but don't the cost something like $500. who owns one and do you like it?
- In my opinion, no. You don't have to spend that kind of money to get a good quality vacuum cleaner. I own a Hoover, have had it for 17 years, have never had any trouble with it, and it works like a charm. I've heard a lot of bad things about Dyson, including the lack of customer service. If you want a 'premium' vacuum cleaner, Oreck is very good quality and the company stands behind its exceptionally good warranty.
- Q: what are the faults that occur in a vacuum cleaner how to rectify them ? esp. when its not getting start .i think it contains a dc motor (but of what type i dont know).thanks in advance
- given your level of knowledge about vacuum cleaners my best advice would be throw away the broken one and buy a new one. But let's say you decided not to take that advice. Then take the broken machine to a professional repairman. Let's say you didn't want to do that either. First let me warn you again that one of the first two solutions are your best bet. So you can't afford a new vacuum cleaner or to pay someone else to fix it. Ok. Unplug it from the wall. Check the plug and power chord carefully. Look for anything broken or bent. Replace any broken, bent or worn parts. By the way, make sure the outlet is functional. Take something you know is working and plug into the same outlet. If the working item does not work in that particular outlet then the outlet is broken. If the forgoing did not fix the machine then you really, really need to go with the first or second suggestion. If you can't then you have to open up the machine and see if you can find out anything wrong with the innards. Before doing that, check the vacuum hose, intake and filter. Make sure that none of these is clogged or broken. Replace any broken parts and clear any clogs. If you have to open up the machine then we are out of my depth. Yes I could tell you that after you make very, very, VERY, certain that the damn thing is not plugged into the wall, use a volt ohm meter to check the continuity of the wires and replace any broken ones. But if you don't know what a volt ohm meter is, you need to give this project up before hurt yourself.
- Q: Are there any quiet, but effective vacuums cleaners on the market. What brands?
- Not yet, but I pray to the Scandinavian gods every night that IKEA will formulate a Dyson vacuum for the masses, perhaps called a Suctionflugen or a Vacuumuum.
- Q: Do you name your vacuum cleaners?
- Yeah. I named mine Nunu like the one on the Teletubbies.
