Q:I was using a steam mop and it started getting very hot and tripping the breaker system. electrician told me there was too many amps (?) for the small electrical cord to handle. He said most of the steam mops can be potentialy dangerous for this reason. My outlets and breaker system have been fine since I stopped using the mop.But now, it is very difficult to keep the tile floors clean. Any suggestions?: For my tile it depends on what color tile you have. I got white tile in my kitchen and i used a little bit of Pinesol mixed with hot water it cleans it good actually you can use that for all tile just a little big but make sure its dried. never used clorax unless you have just plain white tile. uses a little of that. steam mop is good but i use also the shark steam mop it also does the trick it is a faster way to get the job done you can buy that in bed bath beyond or Walmart.

The original tile finish was a clear oil and of course this still allows the tile to breath. Try Slate Dressing from a fireplace shop, this is colourless and will give a richness to the tiles.. If you pull any tiles away from wall they will also need to be removed and replaced as well. Carefully knock off all of the old grout and the old adhesive left on the wall. Clean and dry wall apply replacement tiles with tile adhesive/grout mix. use rubber tile spacers to keep the new tiles aligned while they set up. Remove spacers after 30 minutes and lightly rub off the excess grout with a tile float and damp sponge. Let dry overnight and buff with a clean towel. apply grout sealer and caulk along edge of tub and corners to insure a good waterproof seal. Good luck.
