- Ceramic tiles? Not in the least. Vinyl tiles will melt at a lower temperature but will burn some at higher temps.. Ceiling tiles are all different, they are flame retardant some but again will burn at high temps. GL
- Q: The tile is attached to sheetrock and I don‘t want to damage the sheetrock by ripping off the old tile.
- I definitely wouldnt recommend tiling over tile. Thats asking for trouble. It would be much better in the long run to just pull up the tile and sheetrock. Maybe you can jigsaw the part of the sheetrock where the tiles are at that way you can salvage what sheetrock you can. Then re-sheetrock where the tiles were at and tile away. To tile over tile is just bad work and you would probably have to do it anyway. Might as well do it right the first time and get it overwith. =)

- Well its totally up to you but in my experience tile in every room is cold and not very inviting. Also we made the mistake of ripping up the carpet in our house so we could refinish the hardwoods underneath...bad idea. The floors were ruined and unsalvageable and and we found out our foundation was not suitable for laying laminate or tiles because it was raised in the middle of the house and sloped towards the edges. So seeing as we didn't have the money to lay carpet (we were going to lay the tiles or laminate ourselves) we have had a bare floor for over a year. If you (like us) have dogs that shed. The hair will be a daily nuisance. Between our two dogs and two cats there is hair blowing around the house constantly...which is not good especially when it ends up in the kitchen where your food is. Also we didn't realize how much the dogs preferred the soft carpet but as soon as we got an area rug for under our dining table they sleep there or on their dog pillow all the time and hate being on the hard floors. If you do decide to do tile make sure your floors do not give. My parents found out the hard way. Last year we laid their tile in their kitchen...we told them the floor had some give and that if we went ahead the grout may break out...after re-grouting twice and getting ready to try (hopelessly) again they finally realized that we were right. - I trust you're talking about flooring for a retail situation. Any decent floor tile works fine, I'd suggest something with a rough texture, for safety in case of wet situations -- spills, rain being tracked in, etc. Outlet stores can be found which offer excellent value, but limited selection -- retail finish out usually is heavily price driven, so look for bargains. Large tile for large spaces, smaller but not too small for smaller spaces. If you buy 2 different sizes (must be same thickness), you can easily make a pinwheel pattern by placing a big tile on the floor then putting small tiles around the 4 corners, and set big tile into the created corners (play with them a bit, and you'll figure it out). If you use a pinwheel, calculate the number of each tile needed by figuring the ratio of sizes. You'll need an equal number of pieces each size, allow 1/8 to 1/4 inch mortar joints, and remember grout costs more per sq ft than tile, and larger joints require more cleaning. Use darkish grout to minimize cleaning issues.

- there are stone tiles (like slate and travertine), there are glass, and there are ceramic ,,, it can very how much a 12*12 tile cost becasue if the material it's made out of you can get ceramic tiles for less than $1 but the more desired tiles like say marble can cost $15 a tile .. look in your local flooring store or at Home Depot or Lowes

- You can usually check out home improvement videos for free from local stores. Also, if there is existing tile you want to remove it first. You can buy a tile removal scraper from Home Depot or Lowe's for about $25. Then you use it to pick up and scrape the existing tile. It is not hard laying tile but you do need to work your way towards the door so you don't tile yourself in. The adhesive may get a bit messy so get some adhesive remover to use after it dries. - The total number of square foot tiles you will need is 15 * 18, or 270 tiles. That is also the area within the rectangle of the room. Now the green tiles denote the perimeter of the square with certain allowances for corners and the fact that the perimeter you are talking about is 2 tiles wide. The outermost perimeter (green tiles) is 18 by 15 feet and is calculated by (2 * L) + (2 * W) -4. or (2 * 18) + (2 * 15) -4. Simplifying it brings it to (36) + (30) -4, or 62. You are probably wondering about the -4. That is because each corner is counted twice (once for length and again for width) and you need to compensate for the duplication. Now for the inner perimeter. The size of the inner perimeter is reduced by 2 feet or 2 tiles since the rectangle is smaller, so the dimensions are now 16 by 13 feet. The formula is the same, (2 * L) + (2 * W) -4 but with the new numbers. (2 * 16) + (2 * 13) -4 Simplifying (32) + (26) -4 = 54 Adding the two perimeters together, 62 + 54 = 116 Green tiles.
