Application of Our Glazed Porcelain Tile:

Application of Glazed tile

Q: I laid a new porcelain tile floor in my bathroom. Old linoleum tile floor was in good shape so I just laid right over the top of it. All turned out well except around the toilet. Two of the tile cracked when I screwed the toilet back down to the floor. Obviously I‘ll have to pull the toilet again, remove cracked tiles and start over....but how to I avoid the cracks again?
The floor under the toilet wasn't level so when the weight of the toilet went on top of the tiles it caused the tiles to crack. Make sure the tiles are back buttered as well as thinset on the floor and that they are level with each other. I would cut out any vinyl from around the toilet and then apply the tiles. Also wail for the thinset to dry for a couple days before installing the toilet so the tiles don't move.
Q: I need to have something that makes you think of a tiled bathroom with flair. My work tends to be creative and one of a kind because I work with people to give them the project they didn‘t know they wanted. It really is my passion to keep the customer happy that they had a hand in the layout. So how do you have a quick name that‘s memorable and not a commercial mess like Tile and Bathrooms Incorporated Industries. Anyone‘s help is much appreciated on this. Its been like thinking about the perfect kids name for your future child at this point. Thanks
You have the name in your question. Creative Tile and Bath. Says it all, right there. Or you could go with something similar New Creations Tile and Bath, so on and so forth. I think I'll go register Creative Tile and Bath as a domain name. Then you can buy it from me. LOL
Q: I have a black and white tile floor, and most everything that I have tried has left it very slick even after it is dried. Does anyone know of any homemade product to clean it? I am also willing to try comercial products also. I am tired of my family slipping.
Sounds like it probably has a wax finish on it? If so you can go to Lowes or Home Depot and get floor stripper. OR you can try to put comet in your mop water. I would think maybe something like vinegar and water would clean it and disinfect, but take away any slippery residue.
Q: Do you seal only the grout or the whole tile and grout?
Just the grout as long as you have a glazed ceramic tile. Use after the grout has set for a few days. 3 days for a penetrating sealer ( recommended) or 30 days for a silicone sealer. All tile grout haze must be off the tiles prior to sealing. I use a hand pump spray bottle and just concentrate on the grout lines. Let soak for approx 10 minutes and buff dry tile with a clean light colored towel.. Don t let the sealer dry on the tiles. Then seal a 2nd time. Penetrating sealers will last for a long time, silicone sealers need to be redone every 6 months to a year depending on the amount of foot traffic and floor cleaning you give it. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q: I am tiling a bathroom, and have found a deal on 4 tiles. However, I am no expert when it comes to calculating, and am having difficulty determining how many tiles I should buy. I don‘t want to buy much too many, or even much worse, not buy enough.I am planning to do 3 different areas in the bathroom. I have included the measurements, in inches, of each area. Can you help me out?
35/4 = 8.75 Since you really can't buy 0.75 tiles, round it up 9 80/4 = 20 72/4 = 18 9 * 20 + 9 * 20 + 18 * 20 => 180 + 180 + 360 => 720 38/4 = 9.5 => 10 39/4 = 9.75 => 10 22/4 = 5.5 => 6 21/4 = 5.25 => 6 10 * 10 + 6 * 10 + 6 * 10 => 100 + 60 + 60 => 220 79/4 = 19.75 => 20 27/4 = 6.75 => 7 20 * 7 = 140 720 + 220 + 140 => 840 + 140 => 980 At the minimum, you'll need to buy around 980 tiles. Now, it should be noted that there will be spaces between the tiles (anywhere from 1/8 to 1/4, so this will cut down on the number of tiles), and also, you may be able to use pieces of tiles that are left over (for instance, when you cut a quarter of a piece of the tile away, you'll still have a lot left over to work with). I'd go ahead and purchase an even 1000 (you will break some, and there's always bound to be at least 1 tile that's busted up in each pack) so you'd have plenty to work with.
Q: if there are 24 square tiles in a box and there are enough to cover 3 square feet, how big are the tiles?
24 tiles/3 sq ft =8 tiles per square foot. Since 8 is not a square, there is no solution, or the tiles cannot be square.
Q: What is the basic role of tile glue?
The basic role is clearly posted more solid brick can not afford to brick Baidu experience - tile adhesive construction method
Q: Can you suggest any methods to clean the floor and wall tiles?
If you are talking about the bathroom tile around a shower you will need a lime remover it will clean the soap scum and water deposits. The floor tiles just need a general cleaner. If you want to clean tiles in a kitchen use a de greaser.
Q: never installed it before i am putting in mold free dry wall and new fixtures. want to put up tile instead of a surround wondering how hard it is to do thanks
this is a fairly easy job to undertake, although a little messy.Even a 1st timer can do this with a little patience, and care. 1st off you can use green board (sheetrock for wet areas) but it is not as waterproof as they say. Get some hardiboard instead. Once this is installed securely, Pop a good straight line with a bright chalk,I like red myself if using 4 tiles pop a line 4and 1/16 above the tub. (Make sure to keep starter row level ) Now your line is popped spread your glue or mastic, using a trowel with serrated edge to do so.Let the glue get tacky and then start installing your tiles (you may need spacers depending on the type tile you use. Most small tiles have a couple of slightly raised spots on each side for the space. Once all your tile is in place, let the tiles set for 24 hrs to fully cure. Now you are ready to grout ,being your 1st time I recommend premixed grout. Keep a wet sponge handy while applying grout. Make sure all joints are well filled, and sponge lightly afterward any excess so that it does not bond to tile facing. Let your grout set about 12 hrs then apply a good sealer to prevent water from penetrating grout and loosening it and your tiles, Grout is porous. Hope you understand what I am saying here, I am better at actually doing as to trying to explain
Q: Can ceramic tile be applied over my existing formica counter tops? They are in good shape, just ugly. They are not molded, but the formica is not loose anywhere and would probably be hard to remove. Anyone have any experience with this sort of project?
Yes okorder /... Trying to remove the existing plastic laminate is a waste of time, hard work, and not necessary. Certified Contractor
