- Q:I am getting ready to replace my kitchen flooring. It currently has sticky vinyl tiles, which I hate. I want a nice tile look for sure. However, it seems it is very hard work installing real tile, and more expensive. I have seen some laminate click together tile flooring that looks pretty good.Which one is best? - Q:The hammer took a chip out of one tile, the chip is about the size of a pencil eraser. I‘m just heartbroken as we just had this tile installed 12 days ago! Is there any way to fix this- short of replacing the tile? I‘ve already bought a rug that will cover the hole but I‘d still like to fix it if I can. - short of replacing the tile, you might try super gluing the chip back into the tile. but thats about all you can do.

- Q:We are planning small home improvements during the next year to prepare our house for sale. I would like to switch out our 4 year old formica countertop and replace it with granite tile. A slab is out of the question due to cost. We have a small kitchen and would need about 40 tiles. When I looked on the internet for costs, it seems I can get these tiles for under $300.00? Does that sound right, I think that‘s less than what we paid for the Formica. Also, my next question is can you use the same tile for the entryway, which is next to the kitchen, or it that a little too much of the same thing?

- Q:I am installing some mesh mounted 12x12 glass tiles sheets on one wall of my kitchen (behind the stove). I was reading online how to do it and I have a question. Some sites say to put the bottom tiles flush with the counter top and some sites say to use 1/8 spacers between the countertop and the bottom of the tiles and fill in with grout colored cauk. Which should I do? Thanks
- I ve done hundreds and there is no right or wrong. I like to leave the tile , and it don t matter what type of tile,right down to the counter top. Then the grout is very thin and shows less when it does crack. And it will crack from temp and humidity changes effecting walls, counter tp etc. Then you caulk with a thin bead of caulk. Caulk and grout , because they are 2 different substances never perfectly match. Only white hides the best on white grout. - Q:I‘m remodeling my house and was thinking of using porcelain tiles for my bathroom (floor only). What are the advantages/disadvantages of using porcelain instead of ceramic, et cetera?
- In my younger days when living in S. Cal. I always had ceramic tile everything and I really got sick of it!!! there's no way I would use a toothbrush again to get the grit and grime out from between those tiles. Tiles get old very fast.
