Q: Imloking to buyy subway tile for my bathroom demo. any ideas where I can get it for a discount/

Q: Which tile is best Porcelain or ceramic for a concrete floor?
Either will be fine for a residential setting. Installed properly both will last for years to come. Neither will break if installed properly if something is dropped on them. You can possible get top chips if a heavy object is dropped and both will show the inner body core unless you buy a true porcelain and not the average porcelain glazed tile. Unless you have major moisture problems tile can be used any time. Some moisture ( if any) will wick up and dissipate as normal. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q: I have glazed porcelain tile to put in my bathroom, but the thing is... that is is only 1/4 of am inch thick... Is it still okay to use it?...
glazed tiles are fine to use in the bathroom, the important thing to remember is if they are set properly and to set on either mortar base or hardiboard. the main concern though, would be whether the surface is too smooth a finish when used on the floor, especially when the tiles are wet! this could become a hazard to your health! a lot of tiles used in a floor application, have a sanded or rough finish ,just because of that !
Q: I am making a movie for school and i need to hang things from our ceiling to the ground. The problem is is that the ceiling is an acoustic tile and i‘m not sure if it will hold enough. (This is one of the older acoustic tiles with all of the holes in them.
If it's a suspended ceiling you're talking about, with the tiles held in metal framing, you can buy special little hooks that clip on to the metal framework. You should be able to get them at Home Depot, and probably office supply stores. You can also simply use a piece of thin wire and tie that around the metal frame, squashing it in a little so the tile sits flush again. If whatever you're hanging is too heavy for that metal framework, you have to take out a tile and find something higher in the ceiling that's sturdier. The ceilings are usually suspended from pretty strong wire. Find where that wire or other support is and you know where the strong point of the suspended part is. If it's acoustic tiles over a solid surface, you have to find a structural part inside the ceiling. A stud finder will come in handy for that but unfortunately you'll have to make a hole in the tiled surface to hang anything.
Q: I want to buy lenulim tiles for bathroom. how can I measure how many do I need? and should I start putting in from the center? is there a link to watch? thanks.
Measure Length and width then multiply the two measurements. This will give you the square footage for how many tiles you will need. When you go to buy- the carton will tell you how many square feet comes within the box. You should always start tiles at the center. This way if there are any tiles that need trimming, they will be at the edges of the wall and not in direct sight.
Q: i want to use broken tiles for flooring in the balcony. what is the procedure?? and how do i start??please suggest.
I suggest that you first prep and fill your concrete and let dry. Next you should lay out some tile pieces on an area near your starting point fitting the pieces together like a jigsaw puzzle. Next spread some tile mastic over an area equal to the size of the area where you have laid out tile pieces that fit together. Next, quickly set the tiles in the mastic in the same pattern that you had them laid off to the side leaving at least about 1/8th gaps between the tile pieces. When you are finished, scrape off any mastic that does not have tile set in it. Repeat this process until you completely cover your floor. Allow to dry for a day and then fill the cracks with grout. Allow the grout to dry for a day and then do an acid wash to remove the grout residue.
Q: Our house was built in 1925. My husband is removing our bathroom floor tiles that haven‘t been touched since then...we had only vinyl tiles on top of the old. He discovered these tiles are extremely difficult to take out they are very hard tiles under the vinyl we have now. Then when he tried to remove the hard tiles he had to remove concrete like stuff and sand like stuff. It‘s been one hell of a job just to remove everything. He went down to the foundation of the house! I just started worrying now about asbestos. I remember how old homes have them. Is it possible there is asbestos in these? There is a lot of dust in the house because of the removal process. Anyone know? I have two small kids and I‘m petrified. I‘ve heard of vinyl tiles having them, but what about the other stuff in our floors?
You can put things over the asbestos but if you ever sell the house it'll cost y you. It's very expensive to remove asbestos because if you break it up and disturb it in the removal process everything has to be sealed off. I'm guessing a few grand to do that job. If you don't plan on ever selling you can just tile over it with little issue. You may not have to abate the asbestos if you sell but if you sell without telling them it's in there you can get into a lawsuit so be aware. He is right about it being only harmful if disturbed though.
Q: My kitchen is 15x11 and I am buying 18x18 tiles I need to know how many to buy.
First of all, your calculation is wrong. You have 165 Sq Ft' Second of all 18(18) does not = 18 The correct answer is 18(18)=324Sq.inches.=2.7 2.7 div.165=61. You will need approx.65 tiles.
Q: Hello,Trying to decide on tile for living area. What is the difference between ceramic and porcelain tiles? What price is reasonable for installation of the tile?
