- Q: We have a big problem with our tiles in our bathroom, they wont stick. We have painted the floor with the pva. used (waterproof athesive) don‘t know if thats the correct name for it. my boyfriend has let his dad do the tiling as he knows how to do it. i told him to get a profesionals. but he wants he‘s dad. so now we have been having this problem. if any one knows what should we do or use different glue or something, that would really help., thanx
- The water proofing is stopping the adhesion of the tiles. The tiles have a latex adhesive and will not penetrate the water proof paint that you applied. You may have to use a very course sand paper to score the water proof paint and dig it up enough the and adhesive on tiles has something to hold on to. I'm a builder 30 years.
- Q: Can I use talavera tiles for this? The porch is concrete and was painted at one time. Looks like the last owners removed the paint, but then left it as is. Is talavera tile ok to use on an outdoor porch. I don‘t know much about it, I‘ve only seen pictures and think it‘s beautiful! Thanks!!
- any tile you like is okay to use. my advice would be to prepare the surface by cleaning it thoroughly then using a concrete adhesive before setting your tile with white thinset mortar. after grouting , be sure to use a sealer to prevent moisture getting under the tiles. the sunlight will expand the water and cause vaporlock that will pop your tiles. then maintain by resealing at least once ayear.
- Q: I am putting in a wood stove and want to make a mural behind it - should I tile the board and then put it up, or tile it on the wall. I am using wall spacers and cement board. I want to make a mural of a tree - the wall is 8‘ by 3‘ - should I cover the whole wall or just the part behind the wood stove? do I need special grout?thanks for your answers
- Opinion: I would never tile anything and then try to move/install it. You will surely crack the tile or grout, even if it is on cement board. Besides, it will only make it heavier and more difficult to install. And generally, a mural will look better if it covers the entire surface... you can put neutral/fading-away-color tiles around the edges. Unless you have a plan to transition from the tile to a different non-flammable (non-painted) flat surface.
- Q: Do I start in the middle like normal tile? What happens if I don‘t start in the middle due to the uneven wall?
- hi, I did my get right of entry to way approximately 2 years in the past with peel and stick tile. It exchange into fairly common. I wasn't as professional and did not initiate interior the middle, i began in a nook on the wall closest to the door and then ended up slicing all of the tiles on the different wall besides the undeniable fact that it nonetheless seems effective and that i think of exchange into greater handy. I additionally did not do away with the molding witch I ought to have in hindshigt, it may of made the sides smother. you purely ought to save them aligned and determine the floor is sparkling. My area exchange into approximately 10x8 and it took me (on my own) all of approximately 3 hours and that i exchange into 8 months pregnant (i exchange into nesting hehe). on your case, i could paint the partitions first to keep away from getting it on the tile. I purely decrease the tiles with wide-unfold scissors yet whilst your are thicker you will be able to need a container cutter. in case you have previous tiles or lanolieum or something else under the carpet then you certainly ought to do away with that first yet whilst not, the tiles bypass at once on the floorboards. solid luck!
- Q: What is the best way to paint over brown wall tiles
- After thousands of sq. ft. of tile, and thousands of gallons of paint, (not together) and with all due respect to you and others; this is kind of like a CAN I? question. Tile is essentially glass. Certainly you CAN probably paint over, but may never truly be satisfied with the result, especially over any long term. Also with no offense at all, and not needling you over a misspelling, I had to chuckle at Pinting. I've probably done a lot of that too, and in fact probably while on or over tiles. Steven Wolf
- Q: hi!i hate the tiles in the house i‘ve just taken.they are blue with white dots.My landlord does not mind changes, but i can‘t afford to change the tiles.is there anything i can do o make them look different.can you paint tiles for instance?thank you for your answers
- I would make sure with your landlord about painting the tile first, He/she may have meant that he didn't mind you changing the tiles, but doesn't want them painted. If you paint them and it start peeling off, you've then left your landlord with a headache to deal with after you move out. This can lead to small claims court.
- Q: My house has been posted on the external walls of the tile, and now dissatisfied, there is no way not to pull out, doing other good decoration If the ceramic tile and then brush the external wall paint, will not be a long time or the tide, the paint fell
- Tiles on the Tu is estimated that it is not too reliable, personal opinion can go to Taobao to see those tile film or wall stickers and the like, in fact, sometimes only need a few stickers, the appearance may feel very different, Save money is also easy to replace, quite good.
- Q: what is vitrified tiles
- Vitrified tile is a tile that has undergone a certain process that gives it extremely low porosity, and thus, very low water absorption. This makes the tile hard and strong, as well as stain resistant.
- Q: A 15 foot by 18 foot porch floor is to be completely coverede with 1-foot square tiles. White tiles are to cover the center of the floor and green tiles are to form a 2-foot wide border around the white tiles. How many green tiles and how many white tiles will be needed?/. help plz. can you show work thanks very much.
- Draw a picture and use practical thinking plus arithmetic. Then just add up the area of the sections of tile.
- Q: and if so, can I just put the tile on top of the sanded laminate counter top?
- My main concern would be waterproofing. I can't foresee an effective way to waterproof sanded laminate? Also, waterproofing around the bowl. This will be very difficult as it requires cut tiles. Same way a bath hob is tiled, i guess, but with laminate instead of brick (may cause problems) My tip is plenty of silicone around the bowl/Tiles. And good luck with the laminate not bowing from damp. ** Speak to a tradie (tiler or builder preferably) about potentially removing the laminate and replacing with something like MDF? or even boxing out with Timber Gyprock? you got me stumped. haha. ****** You CAN pry off the laminate, however there will be nothing under it. things to think about: Distance between top of bench and rim of existing sink. Once you glue tile grout, will it finish higher than the lip/rim of the sink ? Having someone experienced to cut the tiles. They'll stick out like dog balls if they're wrong! Silicone. Silicone. Silicone! Like someone here said, silicone around the bowl, no water can get through to the laminate. Maybe there is a sealant you can use on the laminate prior to tiling? Ask around. Call builders. Squeaky wheel!
