Q: What is the tile?
Tiles are what we often say floor tiles, is a ground decoration material, cheap, easy to clean up the cleaning. But with the wood floor than the foot feeling is not very good, hardness. At present, many home decoration will also use the tiles, usually used in the living room, kitchen put, bathroom, balcony and other occasions. 1) Whether the tile is solid and solid: We all know that the tiles should be solid and not easy to be damaged, especially when the weight is on top. 2) non-slip: the surface of the tile is relatively smooth, and some tiles are quintana bricks, glazed tiles, quintana polished tiles, tiles, seepage tiles, etc., these tiles are not anti-skid, the elderly and children with special attention , Try not to choose the tiles, but the choice of wood flooring. 3) to listen: we can pick up a brick gently beat, hear the sound of crisp is good quality tiles, the sound is muddy times defective. 4) test the water: we will pour the back of the tile on the water, after a few minutes, observe the degree of water immersion, if slow, and the watermark is not obvious, then is a good tile. 5) to find ink painted on the surface of the tile, over an hour or so, if the surface is no trace, then a good tiles, if the surface left traces, you must not buy. 6) Color: Do not choose the color difference of large tiles, should choose the color are all with the tiles.
Q: The tile I have has some asbestos in it .How do I dispose of it. Also somebody also said that the glue has some of it in it,True or False
Is the tile 9 inches square? if not, you probably do not have it in your tile, as they stopped making it in tile in the 70's. If you get it checked for asbestos and it's positive, you are best to let an abatement contractor do the job. You can be fined for tossing this away if it has asbestos in it.
Q: MyMy bathroom. which is about 75 square feet has a carpet and I want to change it to tile. The only utility is a toilet. How do I handle the toilet? If I use ceramic tile, does the toilet sit on the ceramic tile and does that cause a problem with breaking the tile? What do you recommend that is practical, easy to install, and still functional?
First remove the toilet. There is two screws holding it down, remove them. Then remove the toilet and the rug. What is underneath the carpet? If you have cement, you can tile over cement if its not damaged. If your have wood, you can install cement board using the cement screws that id made for this type of installation. Never use sheet rock screws. Use thin-set modified mortar to install floor tiles, do not use adhesive glue. I would recommend 8 x 8 tile but no bigger than 13 x 13 tile. Spread the thin-set onto the floor evenly using a spreader with 3/8 space. Spread an area enough to cover two or three tiles. Install two or three at a time and level them off, then continue the process. Let dry overnight and reinstall toilet, I would change the johnny ring and new screws.
Q: How to convert tiles how much money a square meter?
Tiles are generally quoted according to the block, to be converted into square meters of the price you need to calculate the area of each brick (unit: square meters), and then the price of each tile divided by the area of each tile (unit: square meters) You can get the price per square tile. For example, 800mm * 800mm tile is 100 yuan a piece, each tile area is 0.64 square meters, so the price per square meter is: 100 / 0.64 = 156.25 (yuan / per square meter), and so on. Tiles, living room is generally 800mm * 800mm or 600mm * 600mm, kitchen and toilet generally 300mm * 300mm or 300mm * 450mm, then 800mm * 800mm brick, converted into rice is 0.8m * 0.8m, then 800mm * 800mm brick is 0.8 Meter * 0.8 meters is equal to 0.64 square meters, 600 * 600 brick is 0.36 square meters, 300 * 300 brick is 0.09 square meters, 300 * 450 is 0.135 square meters.
Q: Someone told me its called tile- something) I know it has a nic-name, do you know it?
imperial highway maybe
Q: Following on from my previous question about tiles... I had asked if it's better to remove them or tile over the top. At that time, I thought they were bedded in the same stuff as the bathroom tiles were upstairs which was a very fine and compacted sandy stuff that was not set. However, after trying to remove a couple of the mosaic floor tiles in the kitchen, it seems they are bedded in the actual concrete floor itself !!! and instead of being able to remove them, it just chips the tile and breaks off the surface somewhat. They're extremely difficult to remove so: Will my new tiles be completely ok if set on top of these? can you please let me know how to prepare them and what to look out for?Height-wise it doesn't matter, I'll simply order shorter doors. I'm really concerned about the long term strength because it's a kitchen that will get a lot of use / humidity/ etc...Thank you
looks like a serious problem...but u cannot tile over tiles-they will cause slipping and the fresh tiles will never set. best-use a really heavy tool to break the tiles and sewwp off the chips... then overlay with a finishing smooth layer of concrete and embed ur new tiles in it
Q: Does all kinds of tiles calculate the formula per square meter? For example, a few pieces of 300X600 is a square meter?
1 divided by 0.3 and then divided by the number of 0.6 is the answer you want
Q: I believe the tiles were made in Mexico. They are light beige in color. They were installed in the master bathroom which has a shower stall, no bathtub.
Pretty much agree w/ Doc .. You wont hurt a thing w/ the seal part on the grout,it s not a cure all but it will help.. Get a Penetrating sealer and not a silicone sealer( which will wear off over time} A 2 coat minimum is the way to go.. GL
Q: We currently have vinly tile in our tiny kitchen. We want to upgrade but want something that looks nice and is easy to install. What would you recommend (not wood)? Also, would we have to take up the vinyl floor tiles or install on top of it?
you can lay vinyl peel and stick tiles on top of your existing sheet vinyl if your sheet vinyl is in good condition and stuck down well, you can apply a skimcoat of feathering patch on top of the vinyl they sell an epoxy additive instead of water to mix with so that you have good adhesion to the sheet vinyl I bought my peel and stick tiles at Lowes along with the skimcoat mix. Tiles were roughly $1 a piece and look much better than the sheet vinyl. I liked Lowes selection of tiles better than Menards and Home Depot. I redid two bathrooms, front entry way and kitchen this summer
