- Q: Ceramic tile a square with how much, how to buy ceramic tile, the price is how much
- The price of ceramic tile by the brand, type, specifications, freight, local prices and the impact of wage levels, are generally concentrated in the 45-70 yuan between the specific you need to go to the local building materials market to ask and contrast. As for the amount of paste a square, the size of the tile directly by the size of the construction technology and the impact of the loss rate, under normal circumstances if the 600 * 600MM below the tiles, the general amount per square in about 3.5KG, greater than 600 * 600MM Then each square needs about 5KG. The above amount is in the case of the formation of the base surface, if the base is not flat recommended first mortar leveling, and then use the tile glue to paste.
- Q: How I can install ceramic tile on a wall and what tools do I need to do so? Any other tip that I should know about it to do a good job would be appreciated.
- the okorder , or diynetwork online and type in ceramic tile, and you'll get dozens of hints/ tips and tricks that will show you what you need to know. i'm not taking anything away from the other answer, he's completely right, just a little vague maybe. do some research, and this is something you can do. just know what you're doing first. tile is expensive.
- Q: I have an on going problem in my kitchen. Same time tile floor was done in our home but kitchen is the problem. It was done 3-4 years ago by a contractor, however he never showed up his face to help us. He left some grout with us and said if ever the grout pops up then we can mix it in the water and fill with this mixture. The grout from the kitchen floor always comes out. Underneath, the kitchen is wood floor. The kitchen is on the second floor. Our family room is also on the second level but no problem to that floor Please help.
- It's nice if you have a Dremel tool to use,but if your like me you have already spent more than you wanted to on the new product and didn't anticipate on spending any more getting the old ones out. I would spend the little bit it would cast to get a grout removal tool. Looks like a handel for a single edged razor blade but instead has a very rough edge to it. Diamond or graphite I think. Or I would get a flooring chisel and use a mallet. I think you are wanting to save your old tiles or reuse them. You might not see a small flooring chisel but they do have small chisels in the same area. Get an inexpensive one if you go that way because after use it wouldn't be worth saving or sharpening. Just tap it ac cross using a mallet, or a hammer, or a high heeled shoe.(just kidding about the shoe) Good Luck
- Q: I have a light colored ceramic tile floor that I would like to refinish with a different look - perhaps a darker color with some textured look to it. Is there some way to do this, or am I better off replacing the tile?
- Ceramic tile can not be refinished to have different look. If you do not like the tile, you will need to tear it out and put new tile down. There are many choices available. I would reccomend a porcelaine tile, beacuse they are stronger and more durable than cearmic.
- Q: Okay the apartment i live in was built in the 60‘s and unfortunately everything is completely out of date. Trying to get the maintnence people out is more of a hastle than help. So im trying to do this myself. The stuff inbetween the tiles no matter how hard i scrub with scrubbing bubbles and kaboom and everything doesnt come clean this yuckiness is all over lining the tub and all tiles. Does anyone have any ideas on how i can fix this what to use or if i need to regrout how do i do this ? thanks
- Do NOT use kaboom. Are your tiles loose? If so you need a tile repair specialist to repair your tiles, re-grout and re-caulk. If the tiles are NOT loose, try a basin half filled with water, 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 cup of vinegar. use a sponge and work between the tiles better known as the grout lines. If the grout lines are really black, use a utility knife and remove some of the blacken grout before you use the water, clear vinegar and baking soda. Repeat this procedure once a day for a week, then twice a week for a month, and then once a week for life. In tile you will see the grout lines looking better and the tiles will be clean without a filmy stain on them. After every shower, use a wash cloth to remove excess water from your bathroom tiles. - Q: Anybody know of any apps/programs that give the user the ability to make custom sized metro tiles, similar to the windows phone?
- You can only choose tile sizes for Windows Store apps right now and you only get two sizes to choose from. Tiles for desktop programs only have one size. I downloaded the Windows 8 Blue OS that was leaked a few days ago and it allows 3 tile sizes for Windows Store apps. I was also able to make desktop program tiles one size smaller but who knows if that will carry over to the final release. - Dominic
- Q: What procedure to use to keep the tiles from falling from the ceiling before the mortar dries.
- cut kickers, or braces, to hold them. i.e. 1x2 pine sticks are sufficient. cut to estimated lenght, usually 1/8 to 1/2 inch longer. counter tops, and solid step benchs help limit material used in this way. also once placed, kickers can be shared, by placing at edges of tile to hold two to four (corners) at once.
- Q: Can I paint over the tiles? If so what kind of products would I use and how would I prep the tiles?
- i wouldn't paint them . . .I used to have this shower remodel job for a college, we'd have to paint over the old shower tiles with the above mentioned 2-part epoxy paint...and it sucked. not only was it a hassle to sand those tiles, but to mix the paint and get it smooth and even...it's just very frustrating and i wouldn't wish it on my enemies. if the tiles are REAL BAD, then save up and just do a bathroom remodel...if not, then use other colors to accent the bathroom. blue and yellow go well togther, also blue and orange...or you could get a rich brown to go with it, it really depends on the blue and how bad it is. hope this helps good luck
- Q: I want to install a towel hook in my bathroom, but it is all ceramic tile, including the walls. Adhesive doesn‘t work. Is there any way to put screws in the tile with out cracking the tiles? Thanks.
- Yes, you have to use a concrete drill bit and a high powered drill. Also, if possible put your screws into grout instead of the tile.
- Q: The people who owned my house before me tiled the kitchen floor with slippery ceramic tiles (like the ones on your bathroom walls) and the slightest couple of drips of water create a truly hazardous situation. Is there anything you can buy to make such a floor non-skid without making it look hideous ?
- New floor. Buy epoxy thinset and the new tile can be set over the old.
