Q: Have very cheap lino in my kitchen. Am thinking of putting tile down myself.
It'd be better to remove the linoleum, because in order to lay a flat tile floor, you need to put down this stuff called Hardi- backer board, (or any similar product). It comes in big square peices, and is your base layer. Without this layer your tiles would eventually sag, dip, and crack. You'd also have grout problems- sealing, cracking, and curing. You can by the Hardi- backer board at Home Depot or any other similar store. Ask the folks who work there for tips on putting tile down.
Q: my boss wants to remove floor tiles and stain the cement floor underneath the tile, what is a easy way to remove the old tile
There is no easy way, just some ways that aren't quite as difficult as others. Get a floor scraper from HD or Lowe's. Also get a stiff putty knife and a torch. Use the knife and torch to start an area, then pop the rest of the tiles off with the floor scraper. Next, you will need to remove the adhesive. Use the torch to soften the glue, then scrape it off with the putty knife. Once you get the majority off, you can use adhesive remover, which is available at most tile stores, to get the rest off. If you can, use a sander on the floor to remove any traces of the adhesive before staining. Hope this helps.
Q: Is there a low price in imported tiles?
One of the top ten brands of tiles: gold platinum Riley tiles ????Gold Platinum Rally Gambarelli Group has been committed to product development, has been three international patents: Double Face (double face), Oxygena (atmospheric purification brick), MetalStone (metal brick). These three patents represent the Gambarelli Group in product technology research and development achieved important results, its leading other brands of products in the frost resistance is also a good embodiment of high-tech technology. At the same time, the Italian Ministry of Environment has admitted that tiles containing titanium dioxide are environmentally friendly (see Official Gazette Document n 84/04) and cited the valid certificates of the Gambarelli Group as an effective standard for the industry. One of the top ten brands of imported tiles: Gardine tiles ????"Gardner" was formally established in 1961. From the beginning, "Gardner" is committed to design and development, its number of designers is all Italian factories, and even the world's largest ceramic tile factory, and "Gardner" also often employ world famous design As a theme design consultant. In terms of style, "Gardner" always adhere to the European court gorgeous and elegant design style. In terms of production, "Gardner" has always adhered to local production, never to reduce costs and set up factories overseas. It is precisely because of this insistence, "Gardner" has become the benchmark for the world tiles. One of the most proud of the Gardner honors is that Gardner is the first factory in the world to show tiles with a model, which changes the way the world displays tiles.
Q: I am tiling a bathroom, and have found a deal on 4 tiles. However, I am no expert when it comes to calculating, and am having difficulty determining how many tiles I should buy. I don‘t want to buy much too many, or even much worse, not buy enough.I am planning to do 3 different areas in the bathroom. I have included the measurements, in inches, of each area. Can you help me out?
you would be able to desire to borrow a tile cutter so which you would be able to shrink tiles to greater healthful into the corners, and an prolonged spirit point (the longer the greater constructive). you in addition to would choose a on the instant wood batten and a few nails. If the area of the tub isn't point, you could restoration the batten to the wall with the nails, and lay your first row of tiles alongside the batten. Then while they're dry and caught good, eliminate the batten and the nails, and glue all your different tiles up against the row you have in simple terms fixed. Then purchase your tiles, some glue, some grout and a few plastic spacers. you in addition to would choose a plastic thingy to coach the glue with (you commonly get one loose once you purchase the glue) Then plan very carefully precisely the place the tiles will bypass, earlier you particularly initiate artwork. you will desire to centre the tiles on the centre of the tub, in different words, the centre of the midsection tile (or, if favourite, the connect between the two midsection tiles) will bypass on the midsection of the tub. restoration your midsection tile(s) first, then pass outwards from there. in case you have a window, you additionally should centre your tiles on the centre of the window.
Q: I‘ve seen on many different DIY shows that you can get used tiles that are still in good condition (from a certain place, I just can‘t seem to remember the word) to use in your projects.
Most tile stores throw out tiles every week. They throw out sample boards and broken tiles and generally you can go dumpster diving and pick up quite a few. Some stores will give them to you if you ask. I used to work at a tile store and we threw out tons of tiles all the time. The large stores like Home Depot sometimes have rules that they won't give anything broken away or even sell it but it's worth asking because they're all different. You may be able to find a Habitat Re-Store that has some as well. When they tear out old houses they often recycle rather than toss the items.
Q: my bathroom has brown tiles that i hate i bourgh white and stone tile paint there rubbish can i use another paint what kind i cant re tile landlord wont let me so need help
I think painted tiles always look a bit dodgy, unless you really really carefully paint each individual tile and not the grout (which is a PAIN). You can get tile decals though to stick over them, which although not as nice as retiling usually looks ok.
Q: I‘m in the process of re-tiling my bathroom and when I took the old tiles off some of the old grout stayed on the walls or in some areas messed up the dry wall surface. I‘m looking for recommendations of how to either remove the old grout from the wall, or how to smooth the surface over the area in order to lay the new tiles. Suggestions?
The other posters offered good solutions for removing the grout, but I wanted to also add that you mentioned the drywall was messed up a bit. If you have found that there was just plain drywall behind the tiles, now is the time to replace that with green board for the main bathroom walls and use cement board in the shower/tub area. These are specifically made to withstand the direct water and high moisture content that occurs in a bathroom. Good luck!
Q: tile itself
There is a powered floor scrapper that can be rented. You have to buy the blade but it isn't that expensive. Most good tool rentals have them.
Q: How does the concrete on the tiles clean?
Daily cleaning: clean soapy water Mud: linseed oil Precipitate, rust, mortar: nitric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid solution
Q: should I clean the tiles in my basement or is there not worry about it? Thanks
in my case, i like the basement to be kept dry and empty. what is so valuable about ceiling tile? you can keep them outside the house, they are part of garbage. if you want to repair the roof, buy new tile because of color matching. ceiling tile is porous and a good hiding place of germs. germs travel throughout the house from the basement because the house is warm
