Q:what makes light travel faster than any other thing? does dimmer light travel slower than bright light? how come in far distance, we see bright light better than dim light? Is laser light? Does laser travel at the same speed as light? thanks: Light is a type of radiation, in the electromagnetic spectrum. You can get lots of types of light - radio waves are classed as light, along with x rays, so these travel at the same speed :) dim light travels at the same speed as bright light. Dim light just has less...energy (less photons are released, and photons are pockets of energy). Light will obviously lose intensity the further you are, because the photons spread out more. If dim light releases less photons, there is more chance that all of them will be lost by the time they reach your eye than bright light with lots of photons :) A laser is light, so travels at the same speed

Q:I have a white light at the rear of the boat and a red and green light in the front which ones are on if I am at anchor which ones are on if I am moving: The red, green white lights let other traffic know what direction you are moving in when under way which side to pass on. The white stern light is used when at anchor. As others mentioned there may be switch settings to allow you to select lighting display. Some smaller boats have the white light on a telescoping pole which allows it to be visible 360 degrees. I know some will disagree, but when under sail, motoring, or anchored at night I used to leave all my lights on ,including the white mast light.
