Q: As a college student, the daily trips to Starbucks are breaking my bank. I would like to purchase an espresso machine for myself. I would prefer to spend under $100. I know that this won't allow me to get the best quality, but it's the most I am able to spend. I really only need to be able to steam the milk and produce 1-2 shots of espresso at a time. If anyone has an espresso machine that they love/hate, I would greatly appreciate any recommendations or advice. Thank you.
you can easily froth milk with a pan and a whisk (I do it all the time for large groups. Frothing milk is also possible with a french press (makes some of the best coffee useful for tea as well), just put in cold milk plunge repeatedly.
Q: With home market gardens designed on permaculture principles? Which nations are the pioneers?
I don`t know about Cuba ,but my experience with central American countries is that money comes way before the Environment ,and the governments peddle Agro chemicals. Christian Countries regard nature as disposable ,and say it was put there for them to do with as they like . Pioneer countries with Permaculture are Vietnam,Australia ,some places in Africa ,and in Europe and even in the USA,usually all places that have been or are in trouble. In Mexico everyone is heading for the cities ,to suggest to think backwards to care about Nature is idiotic for them ,they are going the other direction towards technology and civilization. I have a tropical garden which the local people hate ,they say i am bringing the jungle into the town ,whilst they are flattening it on the mountains ,and kids come and shoot our squirrels and iguanas from the road . Only some of the people from the big city appreciate the plants and agronomists and other professional people like engineers and teachers and a lot of students are now getting interested in Nature. Generally the people, from for example The Netherlands ,who have no Nature to speak of ,respect and love it a lot more that the people who have it up too their eyes , Mexicans are pigs in paradise who do not realizes what they got ,as often happens. Never have i seen more willful contamination as in these beautiful places ,everybody dumps their garbage on the rivers edge. I have been for 5 years on the citizens council trying to combat pollution ,and for more than a year as Environmental consultant for a department of ecology in a rural town . and in 7 years we have not advanced one step if anything gone backwards . At the beginning of the elections the mayors promise the world about safe guarding the Environment ,but corruption and other issues is far stronger . But maybe Cuba is different from the rest of the Latin countries ,i dont know.

Q: All the mags i see always feature million dollar homes with celebrities. I'm looking for a magazine that shows how to decorate a tract house that don't have 30 ft tall ceilings, and overlooks the beach.A mag with a lot of pictures and ideas. Like a crate and barrel catalog or ??
I think catalogs are excellent sources for inspiration. Some more reasonable ideas for us poor folk can be found in Better Homes Gardens, Good Housekeeping and Country living. But I enjoy walking through design centers that have vignettes of rooms set up just to steal ideas. I find that what they've done, I can modify to my own color scheme, my own lifestyle and my own budget! I live very near the beach (no view) and I draw much inspiration from nature around me.

Q: I need some home decor advice. I will be purchasing a light grey sofa with a glossy black wood coffee table and I will be purchasing a rug to place underneath. Since I want to keep my rug neutral, what advice would you recommend as in the patterns, what color will it look best with my sofa and table? Thanks!
Since your sofa set is already a one with the neutral color you either change one of the two from the rug or the sofa set. Generally a good idea is to have a sofa set with the one with a neutral color and then the rug follows. With the grey sofa set, black rug with a good soft texture will look good. If not black, try going for off white, lime green or light brown. These colors are neutral as you would prefer it and they go pretty good with the grey color of your sofa set. Q: We just bought our first home and there is a large garden in the front yard that was started but never finished. It has decrative stones and it's freshly mulched, but nothing has been planted. Now what? Any suggestions? It's partly shaded, partly sunny. I would like to fill it with something pretty, but most of all EASY! I've never gardened before - HELP!
Hi: I am a landscaper and designer and there are a couple of different things you could do. You could remove the decorative stone and mulch and set it aside to use, or you could just move them enough to plant some trees, shrubs and flowers. The only concern I have with the second option is you probably don't know if the ground has been prepped properly. Properly preparing any ground and soil is critical for a healthy garden. You have invested money in your first home, and landscaping is also an investment. I personally would recommend to take the decorative stones and mulch out. Properly prep your garden. I have a page on my website called plan - prep - and plant. This is a simple method to do any garden. You will want to til the area first and rake it out. Hopefully you can save as much of the stones and mulch. You might have to replace some, but it would be better than having dead plant speicmens in a few months. There are many different plants you could plant. I usually recommend starting out with trees, if you are going to plant them. You can do phase planting and the trees will be put in first, wait awhile and rest your wallet, and then plant some shrubs and flowers. I will link you to the gallery of plants section of my website and also my site map. The gallery has a variety of photos of trees, flowers and shrubs, with climate zones. I will also link you to the site map as this page has everything that is on the website. There are hand drawn designs for you to see, garden projects, outdoor features and other tips and techniques. Browse through and see if any of this information will help you. Good luck to you, and if you need some help, feel free to contact me. Have a great day! Q: grown by people at homes in their patios or gardens?
1) In homes, patios or gardens people in Spain can grow many Citrus fruits like we do. Dwarf varieties that are protected from cold in winter. 2) Spain is the main E.U producer of tropical and subtropical fruit and the only country on the continent itself currently capable of growing them. As consolidated crops, Spain produces avocados (over 10,000 ha planted, yielding some 70,000 t/year), bananas (production restricted to the Canary Islands; around 9,500 ha, of which some 3,000 are under greenhouse, yielding 420,000 t/year), and cherimoyas (roughly 3,000 ha and 33,000 t/year). Mangos (almost 1,400 ha) and papaya (around 200 ha, practically all under greenhouse) show great potential for future development. Pineapple is steady at around 75 ha, both in open air and greenhouse plantations and, again, limited to the Canary Islands. Experimental plantings of litchi show good prospects. Minor crops under evaluation include carambola and guava. A review of the actual situation, problems and prospects, as well as the main lines of research, is highlighted in this paper.
Q: home gardening
If you are starting tomatoes from seed..be sure the pots are sterile and never plant seeds in a pot that's not sterile and rotate your plants every year air circulation is most important
