- Q: did any one think that the light is the original energy?And can you explane if there is or not 'a different between light and heat?can I have light without heat?can it be heat without light?
- Light is one form of transformation of energy. The one that emits light is called luminous object. Energy from the object is transmitted into the space in the form of light energy. Similar to light rays we have many other rays such as Gamma rays, X-rays, Microwaves, ultra violet rays infra red rays and radio waves [short, medium and long] waves. All these rays belong to a family called electro-magnetic radiation and energy from an object is transmitted into space All these rays transmit energy at a speed = 3x10^8 m/s, a value which cannot be exceeded by any material objects. The main characteristics of all these radiations are the frequencies of the wave. Their frequency difference gives them different characteristics and properties. Though heat energy is transmitted by conduction and convection, there is another method of transmission of energy called radiant heat. This radiation of heat energy is again electro magnetic radiation. Below 600? C all objects emit heat energy. These radiations are not sensed by our eye, but our skin feels this energy. When we are near a stove we feel hot due to this radiation of energy. When the temperature raises more, high frequency waves are emitted. These frequencies are sensed by our eye and we call these light rays. When the temperature is nearly 1000C we perceive white light (a mixture of all ways sensed by our eye) When the temperature is more than 1000C ultra violet rays are produced which cannot be sensed by our eye. The other rays gamma and X rays cannot be produced only by heating. Thus heat rays and light rays are all belong to one family called electromagnetic radiations.

- Light has a dual nature. Light has been observed to behave as both particle and wave depending on what experiment is conducted.
- Q: how you turn off,the service light(yellow light)
- First, do the service (oil change, etc.) then with ignition off, push and hold the odometer reset button. Turn on the ignition (don't crank the engine over) and continue to hold the button. Several dashed lines will appear where the odometer display is normally. hold the button until these disappear. the light will come back on in about 4500 miles when you turn the engine on. It will stay on for a few seconds then turn off. When the light is on all of the time, you have reached the max oil change interval.

- Hey Marie.....light travels in wavelegnths much like the waves of an ocean travelling to the shore. When something interrupts or alters the course of these wavelegnths (such as light travelling through a prism) then these wavelengths (ripples) must do a detour and this is called refraction (not to be confused with reflection). It is the same reason that we sometimes see a rainbow in different mediums. Each waverlegnth of light actually has a corresponding color to it.....hence the rainbow. A Frenchman named Fresnel figured out some fancy mathematical equations to explain all of this and when you see an old lighthouse up close you will see the fresnel lens that it supports. It uses this theory so as to take a small light source indide if it (such as an old whale oil lamp) and then magnify and refract the light into a seemingly brighter appearance. Light can bend (refract) and when it does this then corresponding colors appear due to a change in wavelegnth (it makes a detour) and the intensity of the light may appear greater or smaller.

- A light cigarette is manufactured with holes in the filter. It allows air to mix with the smoke, thus making the cigarette taste lighter. An ultra light has more holes in the filter than a light. They're aren't any added health benefits to smoking either (or so they say).

- Q: My 95 ford f-150's reverse lights wont turn on when i back up, also the reading lights in the cab wont turn on, all the other lights work and no fuses are blown i have checked every one, any ideas. oh btw it is standard transmission with the 300 stright 6 if that is any help
- First check and see if bulbs not blown.Inside light should be separate system from back up lights, does it come on when you open door? Check courtesy light fuse and see if interior light switch on. If back up bulbs ok there is a backup light switch on trans.

- Good question! kind of makes us wonder who the nature of light and who the good guys and the bad guys are, eh? - Have you check the fuses. Sometimes when people have a trailer connection for lights etc. it is easy to blow the brake light fuse. or someone screwed up the wiring and it came loose, check any electrical wiring that has been spliced for your trailer connection. You said the turn signals work, that means the bulb is good because it is a double element. (brighter)
