- You are expressing a common problem. Totally agree with the comment above; mixed lighting will certainly lead to trouble. What you need to do is determine what would be the best lighting situation for the type of photography you are doing and stick with it. Here are my suggestions: 1. Studio flash (with or without soffbox) will be good for portraits and general subject matter. 2. Hot lights (halogen or studio incandescent) are good for still life and interior architecture as you can get an excellent preview of what the lighting will look like as well as get accurate light meter readings. You can, with some experience, paint with light as well. You also have a far greater variability for longer exposure times, so you can have greater controls using the law of reciprocity. 3. Cool lights (either LCD or fluorescent) are very good for small product photography and food pictures where you don't want to add heat to the setup and also want to previsualize you results. As with hot lights, you can have longer exposure times than with electronic flash. Caution on all bulb lighting. Exposure color alters with time and LCD lighting dims after many hours of use. If you don't have a color meter, buy one to make sure you are balancing light color correctly. Be especially careful of ambient light, especially with long exposure times as mix light sources will result in horrible results.

- I assume you mean continuous lights for video lights? Photographers do use them at times for studio/product work. Flash (or strobes) are generally preferred though as they can be portable (allows for location work) and more importantly, you can then choose to blend flash ambient (shutter speed controls how much ambient light you have in the picture) - shooting at or near max sync speed (1/200 or thereabouts) allows you to reduce the ambient or kill it completely. Small flashes (speedlights) can also shoot above the max sync speed (the flash 'pulses' as the shutter curtain travels across the sensor) - but you do need flashes that are branded to your camera to make this work, and the flash output (power) is considerably reduced, so the lights need to be fairly close the the subject.

- Let's take blue and light blue. Blue is a solid color that absorbs every single color and reflects blue. Light blue is not a solid color; it has blue AND it has white mixed in to make it brighter. In essence, the light blue mixture color is more brighter than the blue color because of its component of white. Because white reflects more, blue has no element of white (figuratively) and light blue has a component of white, it is safe to assume that light blue will reflect more than blue will. Light blue may not reflect as much as pure white, but it certainly will reflect more than solid blue because of light blue's white component. Cheers!
