6. What's the characteristics about porcelain tiles and glazed tiles? Which one
more slippery, more aesthetically pleasing and easy to clean?
Glazed tiles are colorful, the effect is rather diverse, stain-slip, abrasion resistance but worse than the porcelain tiles. Long-term use may wear a large surface; porcelain tiles have the higher degree, long hard wear surface. Good performance and stable cleanup (before playing the best times to use the wax to improve stain resistance). The porcelain tiles are weaker performance in non-slip than glazed tiles. We should take attention on its anti-slip properties, face down in a tiled brick water testing.
7. How to choose bathroom tiles? Porcelain tiles or glazed tiles?
Currently used in the bathroom tiles with glazed tiles (mainly from price considerations, some high-end can choose tiles, notice to choose tiles), divided into Shinny and Matt two kinds. Light color makes people feel shinny, but the bathroom more appropriate to create a warm feeling, so the best choose is uses matte, the shinny feels more soft and not dazzling.
- Q:How to paste tiles better
- Fight color processing. The contrast of the tiles gives a strong first impression. Usually in white or other light-colored tone, for the color of the tile color slightly deeper, and with the flowers and decorative lines of color is commensurate, such as white lining blue, beige with light brown and so on. - Q:im going to tile the floor next weekend with 16x16 ceramic tile, and i could use some advice2 questions actually...1. when i lay my backerboard, and tape the staggered seams, do i keep that thinset over the tape very thin? im afraid of a hump in the floor when i go to lay tile.2. how much pressure do i apply when seting the tiles in the thinset? ive seen websites that show very little pressure..and some that show alot of pressure. does it need to float on the thinset or mash it down in the thinset. i just want this to turn out good...its my 1st time, and ive done alot of research, but the information varies from person to person. any added advice or tips on this project would be greatly appreciated.
- The thinset is self leveling, so do not worry about the bump of the tape. The tiles need to be pressed down enough that the tile cement has a good coverage of the back of the tile. Try one, and see what coverage you get. Then do the same after wards. Sounds a bit difficult, but when you do it, then it will seem very straight forward. Good Luck
- Q:My husband and I put ceramic tile floors in our kitchen, dining room, office, and laundry. We cannot seem to get them clean. I use to scrub them with a brush and bleach but can‘t with a small child and being pregnant. We have tried swiffers (wet jet and sweepers) a mop and bucket, a steam mop, nothing seems to get them very clean, just pushes the dirt around. I need something that will get them sparkling and be easy to do while pregnant, please help.
- Nothing should stick to a glazed tile surface that fast and hard.. In my mind I have to ask you what else in the past have you ve been using on the floor and what kind of sealer did you use and how long ago? - Q:I would like to remove some tiles from one area of my kitchen and save as many as possible for use in another area of the kitchen. They are heavy 1979 ceramic tiles. How do I get them up and save some of them?
- Having recently removed a s***load of tile during a kitchen remodel, I wish you luck in saving a whole lot of them! Carefully slide a prybar under the edge of the tile---wiggle til it loosens then use the prybar as a lever to remove the tile. It worked for me. Surprisingly many remained whole without chips or cracks, and I wasn't trying to save them. Just didn't want the huge mess involved in the sledgehammer method. LOL

- I ve worked with tiles for over 20 years and I find no difference in tiles from different areas such a Italian , Indian .USA, Brazil, China etc. They all have excellent and garbage tiles. The vitrified tiles is a type of tile as is ceramic and porcelains. Usually a bit harder bodied and the the sizing is better on vitrified tiles. Get what coloring and style fits your needs. - Q:What procedure to use to keep the tiles from falling from the ceiling before the mortar dries.
- I would indeed tile the ceiling. Just be sure the bathroom is well vented with all the hot steam in the room. Just search for good easy cleaners. simple windex on the ceiling? not much soap up there?
- Q:can you use marble tile for counter top
- Counter Top. Marble tiles (although expensive) crack w/in time. Luckily they now have imatation marbel tiles. You should look into them.
- Q:We currently have carpet throughout our house, but due to having dogs, we hate the carpet. While hardwood or laminate seems the logical choice, tile would hold up much better to their toe nails. My concern is how having tile throughout the entire house (even in the living room, computer room, bedrooms, etc) would look. I know it is done sometimes, but I just can't picture it in my mind. How do you feel about it? Would the tile (it would be very neutral in color) be okay through the entire house or should we go with laminate deal with the scratches when/if they happen?

- A tiled back splash should cost very little in general. I set tile around the entire kitchen above the sink stove and counter tops. The entire job including stylish glass tiles cost me under $100 That included Tile, Thin-set, spacers, 15-square foot tiles, grout and grout sealer. Tile is an inexpensive solution, it just takes a little time due to having to wait for some processes to cure before proceeding to the next step. If it's your first attempt I would recommend purchasing a small container of (premixed) thin set to make sure the consistency is right. Careful not to use too much of the stuff. It's probably why it's called (thin-set). A small amount spread on the wall with the thin set applicator and a very thin amount applied to the back of each tile is all you'll need. Use a level as you go to make sure the tiles are straight You may want to buy one of those 10-20 dollar kits that are sold in a bucket that comes complete with everything you'll need to do the job. The kit should include the bucket, a sponge, tile spacers, tile nips, rubber float for spreading the grout and the tool used to apply the thin set to the wall.

- FINDING OLD TILES ARE LIKE FINDING OLD CAR PARTS slim and none,but don.t dis pair remove one of the old broken or not and take it to local tile only store home depot probably will be of little help as they know their currant supply and only supplier.if all else fails find a complementary style and size and create a new pattern removing the broken and possibly a few not so broken create a new design or bite the bullet.careful in the removal of tiles near tile you want to keep remove grout surrounding the tile you want to remove before you break it out the grout will transfer the impact of a hammer to surrounding tiles breaking more than you want
