6. What's the characteristics about porcelain tiles and glazed tiles? Which one
more slippery, more aesthetically pleasing and easy to clean?
Glazed tiles are colorful, the effect is rather diverse, stain-slip, abrasion resistance but worse than the porcelain tiles. Long-term use may wear a large surface; porcelain tiles have the higher degree, long hard wear surface. Good performance and stable cleanup (before playing the best times to use the wax to improve stain resistance). The porcelain tiles are weaker performance in non-slip than glazed tiles. We should take attention on its anti-slip properties, face down in a tiled brick water testing.

- Q:My kitchen is 15x11 and I am buying 18x18 tiles I need to know how many to buy.
- First of all, your calculation is wrong. You have 165 Sq Ft' Second of all 18(18) does not = 18 The correct answer is 18(18)=324Sq.inches.=2.7 2.7 div.165=61. You will need approx.65 tiles.
- Q:How to remove the shoe oil into the tiles
- You can wipe with orange peel or grapefruit skin Alkali washing: sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) with a temperature of 80 degrees or more hot water dubbed 5-10% solution, and then waste toothbrush solution scrub, you can remove. Pickling: directly with waste toothbrush stained with hydrochloric acid scrub, you can remove. With the caustic soda is the most common, warm water plus caustic soda, brush with a brush, but pay attention to do not touch the skin, will burn, difficult to remove the place, with a waste cloth wiping alkaline water cover for a while, do not hand or wear rubber gloves operating, You can sprinkle a little flour, let it absorb oil and then wipe. You can cover the toilet paper or paper towel on the tile, and then spray the detergent and then put a while, the detergent will not drop everywhere, and the grease will all float up. As long as the toilet paper tore, and then a clean cloth dipped in water, more than once or twice wipe it. Sprinkle the point of detergent, soaked in water for ten minutes, then wipe the ball ball that is good. Toothpaste has a strong cleaning effect, ready to use toothpaste every day, and then, to find a used toothbrush. Put the toothpaste on the toothbrush, and then brush a brush along the tiles, and then wipe a damp cloth on it.
- Q:You are tiling a room with 1 foot squares tiles. The room is 11 feet 8 in wide and 15 ft 8 in long. How many whole tiles will you need? How many tiles will need to be cut? Each box of tiles covers 10 square feet. How many boxes of tiles will you need?
- Are there no windows or doors in this room ? No other obstructions which affect the wall area ? In any case, it is impossible to determine how many tiles you will have to cut. It depends on where you start tiling, as well as the bits that you have to work around, like doors and windows, and so on. But, crucially, it is also important to know the height of the room. Work out a rough area and add, say, 15% for the ones you have to cut. So, if the room is h feet high, you will need 2 x (12h + 16h) = 2 x 28h = 56h square feet. Add 15% and you get 65h square feet (that is, 6.5h boxes of tiles). (But you can subtract the area of any doors, windows, etc.)
- Q:I want to buy lenulim tiles for bathroom. how can I measure how many do I need? and should I start putting in from the center? is there a link to watch? thanks.
- If you are using large 1ft square tiles, and your friend did a bad job on the the mosaic tiles I wouldn't suggest doing it. The weight of the tiles may loosen the the smaller tiles causing the larger tiles to fall. This could be dangerous in a shower or bathtub area. The tiles may shatter leaving sharp little shards of tile everywhere, including in the flesh of anyone nearby. I was going to put 16 x 16 tiles in my shower area, and a contractor said I better be sure the wall above the shower is secure because if one came loose and hit me in the head it would not be good. I went with little 1 x 1 tiles on the ceiling with larger tiles on the wall. Whatever you put up is only going to be as secure as what's behind it. Just my opinion, but for safeties sake, I would remove the old tile and start over. Remember, there is never enough time or money to do it right the first time, but there is ALWAYS enough time and money to do it over!!!
- Q:I am making a movie for school and i need to hang things from our ceiling to the ground. The problem is is that the ceiling is an acoustic tile and i‘m not sure if it will hold enough. (This is one of the older acoustic tiles with all of the holes in them.
- If it's a suspended ceiling you're talking about, with the tiles held in metal framing, you can buy special little hooks that clip on to the metal framework. You should be able to get them at Home Depot, and probably office supply stores. You can also simply use a piece of thin wire and tie that around the metal frame, squashing it in a little so the tile sits flush again. If whatever you're hanging is too heavy for that metal framework, you have to take out a tile and find something higher in the ceiling that's sturdier. The ceilings are usually suspended from pretty strong wire. Find where that wire or other support is and you know where the strong point of the suspended part is. If it's acoustic tiles over a solid surface, you have to find a structural part inside the ceiling. A stud finder will come in handy for that but unfortunately you'll have to make a hole in the tiled surface to hang anything.
- Q:Wondered what people‘s experiences were of the above in kitchens. The kitchen leads out into the back garden so the floor will be walked on an awful lot. Would flooring last or look as good after a year or would tiles be the way to go. Any info would be great before I make a purchase. Thanks
- Tiles. Definitely. I have tiles in the kitchen and solid woodblock flooring in the hallway. Both get dirt trampled on them. The tiles still look as good as new (good quality ceramic tiles), and need the occasional hoover and mop. However, the dirt has worn the polish off the wood in the front hall so it's going to need a professional sand and re-varnish at some point, which is expensive and inconvenient (and dusty!). If you do decide to go with wood, get SOLID wood flooring and NOT laminate, as laminate curls up if it gets wet and I doubt this would be covered on insurance if in a kitchen ...! Hope this helps. If you're worried about the floor being cold in the mornings, you can get electric underfloor heating installed under the tiles before you put them down. It's not too expensive and you can put it on a timer. (things like the website below)
- Q:How to effectively remove the glue marks on the tiles?
- But depending on your degree of sticky, may be different time. If the conditional alcohol + eraser effect is very good .2, you can take a piece of vinegar covered with dry cloth, to cover the entire double-sided adhesive marks, until the double-sided adhesive stick After the stain is completely wet, you can use the ruler easily removed. 3, you can also use the heating method to double-sided adhesive glue softening: blowing with a hair dryer to soften the glue, when the double-sided adhesive adhesion becomes weak, you can easily remove. If there is a little traces, with the removal of nail polish to light water to wipe.
- Q:I have plain jane 4 white ceramic tile and it does not go with my new room colors for my bath....can this be painted?
- Why don't you get Wallies or decals and decorate the white tiles? they are easy to remove if you get tired of the theme and don't cost a lot.
- Q:We have tiled around our jetted tub about halfway up the wall and the top and around the edges does not look finished. Do we add trim there or something else?
- We finished off our tile with quarter round tile. We used the same color as our wall tile but with a slightly duller finish. My point is you can use a coordinating color or finish if quarter round is not available for your exact tile.
- Q:I‘m assisting my friend with a property renovation and I need to know with tiles to buy. Can you guys help me out?
- I trust you're talking about flooring for a retail situation. Any decent floor tile works fine, I'd suggest something with a rough texture, for safety in case of wet situations -- spills, rain being tracked in, etc. Outlet stores can be found which offer excellent value, but limited selection -- retail finish out usually is heavily price driven, so look for bargains. Large tile for large spaces, smaller but not too small for smaller spaces. If you buy 2 different sizes (must be same thickness), you can easily make a pinwheel pattern by placing a big tile on the floor then putting small tiles around the 4 corners, and set big tile into the created corners (play with them a bit, and you'll figure it out). If you use a pinwheel, calculate the number of each tile needed by figuring the ratio of sizes. You'll need an equal number of pieces each size, allow 1/8 to 1/4 inch mortar joints, and remember grout costs more per sq ft than tile, and larger joints require more cleaning. Use darkish grout to minimize cleaning issues.
