6. What's the characteristics about porcelain tiles and glazed tiles? Which one
more slippery, more aesthetically pleasing and easy to clean?
Glazed tiles are colorful, the effect is rather diverse, stain-slip, abrasion resistance but worse than the porcelain tiles. Long-term use may wear a large surface; porcelain tiles have the higher degree, long hard wear surface. Good performance and stable cleanup (before playing the best times to use the wax to improve stain resistance). The porcelain tiles are weaker performance in non-slip than glazed tiles. We should take attention on its anti-slip properties, face down in a tiled brick water testing.
7. How to choose bathroom tiles? Porcelain tiles or glazed tiles?
Currently used in the bathroom tiles with glazed tiles (mainly from price considerations, some high-end can choose tiles, notice to choose tiles), divided into Shinny and Matt two kinds. Light color makes people feel shinny, but the bathroom more appropriate to create a warm feeling, so the best choose is uses matte, the shinny feels more soft and not dazzling.

- Q: How many squares are tiles?
- You use the brick side length * side length * block number = square number such as: 800 floor tiles is: 0.8 * 0.8 = 0.64 square, and then multiplied by 4 = 2.56 square meters 300 tiles is: 0.3 * 0.3 = 0.09 square, then Multiplied by 12 pieces = 1.08 square meters tiles have two boxes, three pieces of a box, four, eight, ten one box from 300 * 300 ------ 1000 * 1000 specifications of the larger The smaller the number of pieces
- Q: As in the tile you find as back splashes behind sinks.
- I am a tile setter and also a professional flooring salesman and i will tell you that regaurdless of what paint you put on the tile it will not stay on forever as the tiles are glazed and then fired to set in the color that is already on the tile. That surface is impervious to anything. You can try epoxy paint but just be prepaired for when it will begin to crack and peel. Best of luck to you though.
- Q: We are redecorating our bathroom. We are on a very limited budget. We can‘t afford to rip out the old tiles and put in new, so we‘re wondering if there is something we can do to make them look new and/or different. Such as painting them? That was my idea, but not sure that tiles can be painted? Can they? And if so how? What exact steps do we need to do to paint the tiles? Or any other ideas on making them look better? Thanks in advance.
- Go to one of those Home Depot Clinics and see if it really is something you can do. If not; find someone that knows how, and will let you work with them and charges alot less than a contractor will. And then maybe you will be able to do it next time.
- Q: Having done some work in the bathroom we would like to reuse some of the tiles we took of which arent broken, does anybody have any suggestions as to how we remove the adhesive and grout so that they can be reused?
- I tile every day of my life, and have been re-mediating an 11,000 sq. ft. floor since the floods. I suggest a Diag. grinder. What matters more than HOW, however, is the substance used to hold the tile. Adhesive or Mortar? For grout removal use a diamond blade on the grinder, and run the blade along the edge of each piece of tile. I also flip the tile over and GENTLY grind off as much THINSET as possible. To re-use, even those not totally clean, use a thinner spread of MORTAR and press, until flush with any adjacent. Steven Wolf Just my two sense

- Q: hello, this is my first tile and grout job, tiling is done now for grout. bought premixed grout, rubber float, sponge, started grouting last night, put grout on the float and applied to the tile. pushed it into the space between tiles, but it seems like alot fell off in the tub (its in the spaces between tiles) but is this normal for the grout to fall off the wall (i guess it would be considered excess?) but is that normal no sure how applying grout is suppose to look? i know i need to let it sit for 24hrs then do clean up then seal it when done. plz let me know if that grout falling in tub is normal or am i doing something wrong? ( grout is in the grout line though) just looks like alot is falling, or am i useing to much at one time? don‘t know? thx again for any info. mike
- It is in your wrist movement, so if you put too much on the float or do not move quickly it falls off the float. As long as you filled all the joints and then wiped it down you should be fine

- Q: we are installing 2inch hexagonal tile on the shower floor. anyone have any special tricks to getting them lined up properly? the tile guys have put it down and a lot of the spaces between the tiles are uneven. keep in mind the shower floor slopes a little towards the drain
- I tile every day of my life, and assume now it's TOO LATE to change the spacing. 2 inch octagonals should have come with a mesh backing for one thing, in sections that approximate a square foot at least. The mesh is supposed to insure at least a 1/8th inch grout space, between the tiles. Unless the contractor is willing to pull it all and start over, and/or you want to take civil action against them. you might just have to consider the other, hopefully better aspects of the job and live with it. In the SLOPE, which should actually be more a modified concave bowl effect to the drain, it's possible that the tiles would have to be singularly set, and if installed properly would have thinner grout lines to the point where they meet the drain. I'd probably file a complaint if I were you, but you may not get any resolution to the problem. I crafted a spacer tool, that allows spacing at the various distances where the grout lines are actually lined up, which happens with each adjacent tile, but can be crafted to stretch a foot or more when setting meshed sections. Steven Wolf ADDED THOUGHT: Since you added details, certainly you can CUT tiles to separate them. The issue is now, the dry time allowed, at 12:16 AM EST. The TILE sections should have come out of the box with the corner octagons actually protuding some, to FIT into any adjacent sections already laid. If the contractor was a decent one, HE would have determined the layout, and cut the corner tiles out, of SOME of the meshed sections, allowing the new, adjacent section to fit exactly in. Added added note: No offense but the pics show slight variances, but nothing critical. To change and entire line, might mean pulling up an entire square, and using NEW
- Q: We want to put the same sticky tile over the existing tile just stagger them. Will that be unstable or should we remove the old ones...which seems like work lol
- As long as the existing tile is not cracked, has missing chips, free from grease and dirt and has been vacuumed you won't have a problem putting new tile over it. Also you want to make sure the existing tile is not loose in spots. Yeah, a few new tiles might lose their grip and come up.....in about forty years. We did the same in 1974. I am now in the process of a remodel and a few of them came loose. Must have been a bad batch of tiles! Lol. You'll be fine.
