Q: Ten months ago had expensive black tile installed in master bath. Now the tile appears dull and definitely not shiny, and we‘ve tried the usual cleaners, but can‘t get the shine back. Any suggestions on what we might try to return the lustre to this nice black tile?
Go to home depot or lowes and buy Gel-Gloss. It's a polish for tile. It works great! I use it on my kitchen tiles and fiberglass tub surround. They have it on the aisle by the sinks and tubs.
Q: My wife sent me to pick up some used floor tile. It still has the stuff (plaster? grout? whatever?) on the back of the tile. Can this be reused? Do I have to get the old stuff off? It is on there pretty uniformly.
Yes it can be re-used, and thin set, or latex based mortars can be removed,,,with caution. I'm doing remediations constantly at one job site in a building prone to flooding. I have an ongoing part time career with 11,000 sq. ft. of tile. The tile used 2 years ago is no longer in stock, but continues to POP due to ground level water seepage. I use a Diag. Grinder, with a tile cutting blade, cut out grout, lift the tile, flip it, grind down the thinset to a reasonable level, and re-install. The bad news is the job is tedious. The good news is that the job is tedious,,, smiles. It saves the current floor however. Certainly, aside from safety precautions one might expect, the tile is fragile as well, and unless you have more, than you will use in this purchase which I always manage anyway, on a job site, by no less than 10% for waste, etc, You may find that treating the old tile as if it was a fresh egg is your best way to proceed. Q: I am redoing my bathroom floor and I am going to use stick on tiles how do I put them on? Do you just stick them on the
For your best adhesion. its best to start out with a clean wood sub floor. Depending on what is down now, its best to put a new luan sub floor. These you can sometimes go over whats there now and sometimes its best to rip out and start new. Always start from the middle and work to the out side. But if your tile lays out to less than a 1/2 tile, move the tile over the center line by a 1/2 tile. Now MOST peel n stick are directional so they must be layed all in one direction.. This is personal preference, but I like to have a whole tile at the doorway and what ends up in back is the way it is unless its a real small pc. Dry lay out the tiles to see what you like.. Any flooring questions you can e mail me thru my avatar.. GL
Q: How to remove the 502 glue on the tile
With banana water can be washed away. Hope to help you, hope to adopt!
Q: I live in a split level 3 story house, the outside of my house is concrete, the walls inside are concrete and the floor is tile. Several weeks ago the tile in our laundry room cracked, as if something was pushing up from underneath. This morning the exact same thing happened in our top story living room. We had tilers come out to re-tile and they said that this happens all the time, but the concrete underneath the tile was untouched and un-warped in any way. Please help? What can we do to fix this from ever happening again?
Tile is failing and the slab has no cracks? Your thinset mortar application was wrong. Suggest you use an acrylic latex admix in your thinset mortar rather than just straight water. Also consider using a 1/2 notched trowel. Stay completely off the tile for 72 hours......that will give you an 80% cure.
Q: I am going to lay bathroom floor tiles in my bathroom but I have some questions before I start. 1. Can I lay the new tiles over the existing floor, which is vinyl flooring? Or do I have to remove that first? 2. If I have to remove the vinyl flooring do I have to add cement backer board? Or can I lay the tile right over whatever is under the vinyl flooring? 3. I have trim along that floor that I will be re-attaching, do I lay the tile right up to the wall or do I put a space in between the wall and the edge tile? Do I then grout into that space between the wall and the edge tile?
you actually *can* install ceramic tile over vinyl flooring, if the vinyl is in good shape and not coming up or bubbling. you would need to use a mutliflex thinset instead of a standard thinset for the ceramic tiles to stick. now this only works if the vinyl is over concrete. if it's over wood, then an underlayment is needed. if the vinyl is in poor shape, pull it up. if in doubt as to it's quality, pull it up. 1/4 or 1/2 hardibacker or durarock are your options for your underlayment. use a multiflex thinset to adhere to the vinyl or wood subfloor and screw the board down every 6 inches. if your floor is a concrete slab don't bother with the underlayment; just tile directly over the concrete. leave a slight gap from your tile to your wall, then install your base and/or shoe molding. grouting the space between the tile and wall would be a waste of time and grout. don't bother; the base will cover it. i agree with the 1/8 grout joint. a much better look to it than a larger joint. keep in mind the thinset rules: a tile up to 12 requires a 3/8 notch of thinset, a tile 16 to 18 needs a 1/2 notch, and anything over 18 requires a 3/4 notch. this guarantees that there will be no thinset adhesian failures. good luck!
Q: I was using a steam mop and it started getting very hot and tripping the breaker system. electrician told me there was too many amps (?) for the small electrical cord to handle. He said most of the steam mops can be potentialy dangerous for this reason. My outlets and breaker system have been fine since I stopped using the mop.But now, it is very difficult to keep the tile floors clean. Any suggestions?

Q: and didn‘t seal the floor or grout. Now they are dirty, how can I clean them so they look new, then seal it? I have grout sealer, do I need to seal the tiles also, they look to be sort of porous?
Rent a steam cleaner. They work great for this. The tile don't need sealing.
Q: What is the use of ceramic tile?
More than 4 can lead to the sizing after sizing. In the construction of trimming when careful not to squeeze too much, or easily lead to foam foam rod deformation, then the foam rod will gradually recover, resulting in the overall sealant muster; construction within the scope of the construction to extend the correction time, Operation, the use of scraper from the bottom of the seam up to trim, to avoid curing the strip surface is uneven and a small amount of sagging; due to the different types of profiles on the market, it is recommended that customers in the use of each batch of plastic products before their own simple Of the adhesive test, in recognition of product quality can be widely used, which is to ensure the quality of the project at the same time also protect their own interests. Tile glue a lot of advantages, relative to the traditional materials such as cement in terms of advanced technology, saving material consumption, to ensure the quality of the project and conducive to environmental protection, is a good choice in the housing decoration. But this does not mean that tiles are the best choice for all people, on the one hand the current market tile unit cost is higher than the cement, on the other hand also take into account the construction process, its construction technology requirements than Cement should be high, if the use of ceramic tiles improper, the effect will be greatly discounted. So we choose to use cement or magnetic glue must be based on their actual situation to choose the best products for the better. Learn more about tile information click on id
Q: Okay, I‘m doing a tub surround with porcelain tile. Got the last cut around the fixtures that requires a hole to be cut in the center of the tile. Long story short, I‘ve busted 22 tiles trying. I‘ve tried every single drill bit I‘ve got. Everything from metal hole punchers to concrete bits. Nothing even scratches this porcelain tile. Any tips on how to punch a hole in this tile? I‘m desperate!
Hi okorder It should take you directly to the page where they sell the bits you need. As you can see, they're available in several sizes. Again... don't cut a tile in half, it will show and look like handyman's work... we don't want that! Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions
