- Q: I heard that ceramic tiles absorb water and we have ceramic tile in the downstairs bedroom. After I wash the tile floor how long do I wait until I can move our dressers and furniture back on the tile? Because once I bring in the dressers I don‘t think the tiles will have a chance to dry because it is fully covered by the dressers, right?

- Ceramic tiled floor is very easy to clean ,but it is hard and cold , if you have older or kid , so it is not good. And its very heavey , so it's hard to install. However, vinyl flooring makes you feel comfortable , when you step on the ground . And it is elastic to avoid falling down to injury.What's more, you can choose click which is so light . Because you can install it by yourself .
- Q: are tiles get really dirty fast and i tried everything and i cant get them to stay white could i use bleach?
- If they're a natural rock, like travertine, use Tilex and scrub them with a stiff plastic bristled brush. Use a cloth with hot water and a mild detergent to take up the excess Tilex. Then put down a tile sealer after it's dried. This will keep them from getting dirty again so fast. If they're ceramic and have hard water stains or whatever on them, you can use Tilex for the grout and CLR on the surface. Put a moist cloth down and pour the CLR over it to let it soak for about 15 minutes. The hard water stains should soften and come up easily. BTW - if this is a mildew problem (like in a shower or around a bath tub), don't use bleach. For some reason, even though it kills the mildew initially, it actually fosters the return of the mildew quickly.

- Your best bet then is to do the measurements yourself and go to a store (even homedepo or Lowes) and have them cut it. They will most likely cut it with some type of wet saw, keeps the edges from chipping.
- Q: Hi, I just wanted to know if Ceramic tiles are better than stone tiles? When we signed a contract for a new house, they offered us Stone tiles, but now they are calling us and telling that they do not offer stone tiles instead ceramic tiles are now standard. I wanted to know which one is better and why?
- Ceramic tile is cheaper than stone but we have installed ceramic or porcelain tiles in all bathrooms for the ease of upkeep. Stone does look richer but it needs to be sealed at least once a year maybe more. The sealing part is easy but the stone tile needs to be completely clean first. That is the 'hard work' part. Ceramic tile will hold up to almost anything in a bathroom and the grout is the only thing that needs sealing. (You'd probably have grout to seal with the stone too) If you signed for stone, I'd make sure that they are going to give you some kind of refund for the difference of the cost. They are saving a a few bucks here so make them pass it on.

- Q: We have small ceramic tiles on our bathroom floor. They are varied in shape and size (see photo).I think that these tiles originally came with some sort of netting on the back when they laid the floor and they added grout? I believe I saw some extra tiling somewhere in our home and this is what I had found.Anyway, the grout is breaking up between some of the tiles and some of the tiles keep popping out. I have two questions, If I regrout them do I put it on the bottom of the tile too and does that make the tile adhere to the floor?How would I get the grout to match what‘s already there, it‘s a medium brown gray. - Q: The tile I want to clean was built with the house back in the early 1900‘s but still in very good condition what would be the best way to clean that because its very dirty, and i think its porcealin. The second set of tile looks like it was put in back in the seventies but doesn‘t match the original tile at all, what would be the best way to change the color other than replacing it. Could i use pray paint?
- First I would clean the tile with a mixture of bleach and water usually 3:1. Then I would sand the tile down, next use KILZ premium primer it will stick to anything you put it on, Wait one hour then you can top coat it with a 100% Aacrylic paint such as KILZ Casual Colors from Wal-Mart. The reason I say use a 100% aacrylic paint is due to the fact that it make your paint more washable and scrub-able it will also last longer, i.e no color change or mildew.
- Q: I accidently kicked in one of the tiles near the knobs on the bottom front of the shower. the tile is caved in and loose so i took it out and noticed the blue board behind it. There is a blue board and 6 tiles on the board. the blue board is easily pushed back and has little support. the 6 tiles are loose too and if i press the tile, it will go back a little. I think the blue board provided little support for the tiles and the tile cave in would of happened eventually anyway. either that or it was completely my fault because i caved in one of the tiles which made all of the other tiles loose?? I think the blueboard had little support and it wasn‘t completely my fault. should i fight my landlord on this?i just met with her and sat through a lecture with her accusing me of everything, from having parties trashing the apartment to the slightly black grout near the tub so im kind of worked up over this.
- The tile is installed incorrectly. Water has soaked the blue board and it was a matter of time before theu fell off on their own. Tile should never be installed this way and especially in a well used shower where a lot of use will make it go bad faster. Nothing less than a cement backer board should have been used.
