- Cats can be really finiky about were they like to go... Have you switched litter brands lately? I have heard of a cat that would either go in one brand of litter, or her owner's shoe. Or maybe you aren't cleaning the litter out enough, I know another cat that would only go in fresh litter, he wouldn't go in the litter if there was so much as one poo in it, he would go on the comforter, (they got him a littermaid). Both of those examples are extremes but cats do have preferences, if you change litter brands do so gradualy and make sure that the box is cleaned frequently (especially with two cats in the house)

- There are a lot of variable to this question. First, labor rates are very dependent on where you live (city/state). Is it a pedestal sink or one with a vanity cabinet? If it is a vanity, is it a drop in or under mount sink? There is also the question of size. There really is no standard, as sinks are made different sizes to fit in different spaces. A pedestal sink will generally cost a little more in both labor and for the sink itself. I would love to give you an idea of cost, but with so little information, I'd hate to give you bad information. Your best bet would be to call around to a couple local plumbing shops and have them come out and give you an estimate. A lot will do this at no cost to you, and should be able to bring out some catalogs of different sink and faucet styles for you to look and and decide what you'd like. This will also give them a chance to look and see if there are any additional obstacles that would change the cost of the job (shut off valves that don't work, and other piping issues). FYI, the shop I work for has a rate of $160/hr for labor. In your local area this may be different, and will affect the cost. Plumbing rates across the country fluctuate A LOT. Call around for rates.

- Q: I undid the P trap under my bathroom sink to clear a clog and now when I put the whole thing back together it leaks out of the top of the slip joint that connects the down pipe from the sink drain to the j-pipe. The down pipe is 1 - 1/4 and the j-pipe is 1-1/2 and I am using the correct reducer gasket. It was not leaking (and never had) before I took it apart. I have tried using a new gasket and teflon tape on the threads of the slip joint to no avail. Please give me some idea as to what the problem might be. - Just got through going at the same business with mine. The upper gasket at the bottom of the sink was my problem. Had to use a piece of toilet paper to find it. wrapped it around the pipe and found the water was coming down the back side of he upper pipe and looked like it was dripping from the connection as the first union. Give this a try, I would be really reluctant to use silicone should you need to take it apart again, it will be very difficult. If you have already replaced the parts, it has to be something else. The teflon tape is not doing you any good, but it is not harming either unless it is getting under the gasket. Also another thing that threw me off on mine with the rust which was occurring on the pipe, I thought the rust was getting on the gasket. If you have done your kitchen sink then you are not a novice at this and I suspect making your repairs correctly. I would look beyond the gasket.
