- Oh yeah. You need insulation. Think of it this way. If you turned a stove top burner on medium-low and placed one of those roof tiles on it, it would be too hot to pick up. If you put down a small piece of insulation first, you'd be able to pick up the tile with no problem.

- What is he using glue on? Buy rolled fiberglass insulation, install it between the rafters and wall studs...paper side in. You can cover the walls and ceiling with drywall, OSB, plywood if you wish. You do realize that insulating your shed isn't going to make it much/any cooler don't you? You will need an air conditioner for that, but the insulation will help keep the AC in.

- i'm designing a house it quite is a retangle on the 1st floor with an L shape on the 2d and installation into that L i choose to have a greenhouse related. My plan is to apply 2x10 or 2x12s for my floor joist that way i can insulate the ceiling of the room it is under that and the two partitions that are related to the greenhouse. no longer a lot to learn any warmth from it,yet to have plant life. - I'd have to agree with mj, your insulation in your ceiling is the major factor for heating and cooling , spec R-38 but if your going for gov. kick backs I think it's R-41 (17" of blown in fiberglass insulation). Roof pitch standard is 1' raise to 4' run, (really easy to re-roof & inexpencive). Advantages of a steep roof (less apt to have leakage problems with a worn roof, you get a few more yrs). When you have to replace that roof, price goes up for steepage.

- If your insulation gets wet while the roof was removed, you will most likely have mold/mildew problems after the roof is replaced. While the roof is off, it's an excellent idea to inspect the insulation are replace as necessary. If your roofer isn't going to protect your insulation while it is exposed, find another roofer.

- You should not be able to see your roof tiles from inside your house. So no, it can not be done. You can attach insulation to the rafters if that is what you meant.

- There are closed-cell expanding foam insulation materials that can be installed through rather small holes in the ceiling. The advantage of this material is that it also serves as a vapor-barrier - a critical function in your case. Not cheap, but very effective. Make sure you install roof vents to prevent excessive heat from developing above the insulation - but with foam, this requirement is far less onerous than with blown in or batt insulation.
- Q: I would like to know which direction the one side with foil faces. The roof or the interior of the room?This is an attic room. Roof being "raw" i mean that it looks like cedar tongue in groove boards...then shingles on top of them. Which way do i face the foil side of the sheet..?thanx
