- Q: What is the difference between ultrafine glass fiber cotton and centrifugal glass wool?
- Centrifugal glass wool is the glass in the molten state by centrifugal injection method of fiber spray coating thermosetting resin made of filamentous materials, and then through the heat curing deep processing, can be made with a variety of uses of the series. Centrifugal glass wool internal fiber fluffy staggered, there are a large number of tiny pores, is a typical porous sound-absorbing material, with good sound absorption characteristics. Centrifugal glass wool can be made of wall panels, ceilings, space sound absorbers, etc., can absorb a lot of room sound energy, reduce reverberation time, reduce indoor noise.
- Q: while checking wiring in ceiling fixtures, some fiberglass fell. I vacuumed it up. how dangerous is it? we have kids here and nothing was covered as we didn't expect that.
- not dangerous on skin, it makes you itchy. but inhaling alot without a respirator is bad.
- Q: How about the whole closet
- The overall closet, residential cover and the wall combined with the floor storage space. I believe many people think that the overall wall cabinet space, in addition to beautiful and beautiful no other; but the whole closet can become the leader in home decoration
- Q: i removed what i think are fiberglass ceiling tiles cause they had yellow long hairs on them. but i am worried that they might of been asbestos because my lungs feel bad. people tell me to not worry because it was only this one time and only people exposed all the time at there jobs need to worry, but i am still worried.
- Stop worrying, what you removed was Fiberglass not asbestos. As for your lungs, it's all in your head. Now if you breath fiberglass all day it can harm you. But one tile will hardly do you any harm.
- Q: Interior designers should understand which decoration materials
- Plate Finishing material Tiles Paint Lamps and lanterns switch panel Power supply wire Plumbing accessories Common furniture brand Indoor commonly used plants.
- Q: I was replacing a bathroom fan and the new bathroom fan is bigger than the old one. I took out the old one. Then I used a pencil and traced around the new fan. Then I used a reciprocating saw for the first time and got a little crazy with it. Now the hole is slightly too big and when I put the grill cover on the fan, I can see the hole. I'm not sure what to do now. I still got old pieces of the ceiling. Maybe I can do something with it?
- It sounds like when you put the fan in you can see holes around it. If that is correct then get some cardboard and wrap around the fan two or three times around the fan where it fits through the hole. So later when it is removed it give the correct gap around the fan fit to the hole. Now you should be able to secure the fan in place but not up tight to the roof, so you can still get plaster into the gap. Then get some plaster filler. you can get it from hardware store. And with a scraper that is used for plaster fill the gap. Let it dry. You then take the fan out and then remove the cardboard and discard. With the cardboard out their should be just the right amount of gap for the fan to fit back in snuggle and perfect. Use just enough cardboard as you think will do the job. The plaster also sticks to the card board and not the fan housing. You can also rap some Glad Wrap around the cardboard on the out side and it will pull away from the plaster easier when it is dry. Then sand, then you may need that repair with the fiber netting that sticks to it, to strengthen the around the hole. ( buy from hardware. just ask them and they will know. ) stick some of that on to strengthen it and put more plaster on. Let dry, sand and paint. If you google wall plastering repairs you should be able to get some demonstration on how to repair walls with holes so it will show you how to use the mesh to repair. It is not really very difficult. Good luck.
- Q: How to conduct a comprehensive review of self-leveling
- Construction technology 1. Check the ground humidity, confirm the ground dry; check the ground flatness, confirm the ground level; check the ground hardness, the ground should be no cracks. 2. Thoroughly clean the ground, remove all kinds of dirt on the ground, such as paint, oil and paint and so on. Fully polished the ground. 3. completely suck the dust. 4. The interface agent with a foam roller coating, 1: 1 watered, the amount per square meter is about 100-150 grams. 5. After the application of the interface agent, wait for 1-3 hours to maintain good ventilation, so that it is completely dry. And then self-leveling construction.
- Q: When I moved into my house the ceiling was cracked from the ceiling fan out to the walls in two directions. I don't want to put new wall board up and repairing the crack is not possible according to my Husband. What are some ways to cover the ceiling up?
- It's possible the crack is caused by someone/something in the attic, if that is above. If so, don't walk up there and crack should not occur again. If not an attic above, but another floor instead, it's possible that something/somebody heavy caused the crack. Lastly, it could be the floor joists/ceiling joists are insufficient to support the weight on them, including the cracked sheetrock. If this is true, you have a structural problem that will probably continue to cause overhead sheetrock cracks. However, repairing the present cracks is not that difficult. Best idea is to use a utility knife/box cutter to dig a shallow V shaped groove along the crack, then use joint compound and paper tape as with any sheetrock finish work. Another less messy option is to use fiberglass self-sticking mesh tape, sold for sheetrock finishing, and joint compound over that. Some practive to feather all edges is needed or the results could be as bad or worse than your cracks. If you just can't do any of the above, a thin bead of silicone caulk pressed into and along the crack, can mask the worst of the crack!
- Q: I just bought a home with an unfinished basement. I was thinking of finishing the basement and creating a game room. I wanted to soundproof it but I dont want to spend a ton of money. I know that I can buy soundproof drywall but that stuff is expensive! Is there anything that I can stuff between the ceiling beams to soundproof the room? I dont want to put in a double layer of sheetrock becuase the ceiling is already only 7 feet. Thanks!
- come off a dollar and do it right, it is a one time expense for crying in the barn already.. rk is a great sound dampener... a music production room in a hippy commune i lived in back in the 70's had cork on the walls and ceiling and door. it was great...the musicians could be in there amping totally to the moon and you could barely hear them in the rest of the house.... cry me a river about expense or cry a river about noise...your choice.
- Q: Sorry for shouting,,lol,,,want to replace 40 year old fibrglass insulation in basement ceiling with new, joist are 16 inches apart and 2x8 sized,,,what size insulation should i use
- Why are you insulating the ceiling of a basement,? Unless there is no heat in the basement it is not efficient to insulate the ceiling from a heating stand point. But it's your ceiling. Size 15x 93 batts R factor 19
