Q: please help: Open-pit mining (as opposed to underground mining) has several advantages:- 1) Low cost of recovery - large trucks can enter the mine, get filled up with rock from a large excavator and drive away to the processing plant. 2) No need to leave stability pillars, necessary to hold up underground mine workings but which may contain valuable ore that is effectively lost to the mining company. 3) Ease of beneficiation - surface mines are usually composed of materials (oxides in the case of metalliferous mines) that are easier to handle and easier to treat in order to recover their marketable product as a result of being so close to surface. 4) Safer environment - so much less problem of rock falls, hanging wall collapse resulting in a lower injury rate than in underground mine.

Q: What do you think of a Kenda Nevigal 2.35 in the front and a Kenda Small Block 8 2.35 in the rear. Q: so im building a tank style vehicle with two treads, it must carry ~300lbs and will need to be non metal. all i can think of is wood....the links should be replaceable too. if you could give me a source with tread types that would be awesome cause i couldn't find one. thanks in advance.: I agree with rubber, but keep in mind that rubber includes steel belting (like tires) to internally support the rubber from breaking up...this may not fit your non-metal specifications...

Q: I need some work done and none of the excavators call me back. I'm thinking about buying one and doing some part time work with it if the demand is so high they wont return calls.: I have been looking into it for awhile now. I have a lot of work to be done and have decided it would be cheaper to buy a used machine and do the work myself, then sell it when I'm done. I find that prices start around $8k for an OK used machine like a John Deere or a Case. For that much it will be pretty beat up but it should work OK for the average homeowner. If you wanted to make a business out of it I would plan on spending around $15-20k for a reliable machine then add the cost of truck and trailer to move it around and don't forget insurance. Ripping out an underground line can get expensive to repair.
