How difficult would it be to wore the speakers myself?: If the wire you are referring to is standard speaker wire, then you wire it to your speakers, at one end, and to your receiver, at the other end, the same way that you normally wire up speakers. In other words, always connect the same colour of wire to each positive connection, and the other colour to all of the negative connections.

Q: Ceiling fan has a black wire, white wire, green wire and also a black and white wire.: The black and white wire provides power to the lights; the black wire is to power the fan motor. If you have separate wall switches for lights and fan, you can control them separately. If there's a red wire in the box, connect it to the black and white fixture wire. Q: Trying to wire up a toogle swithch for boat light. Have a positive and negiative wire coming from the battery. I have 2 wires coming out of the toggle switch and two wires coming from the light. What goes where? Thanks: take the ground wire from the battery and connect it to one of the wires on the light. Take the positive wire from the battery and connect it to one of the wires on the switch. Take the other wire from the switch and connect it to the other wire from the light. Check all your contacts to make sure there are good connections. If this does not work but the light goes on if you bypass the switch the switch must be bad.

Q: How do I wire this ceiling fan? There are two house wires coming from ceiling-one white, one black. There are three wires on the fan- one white, one solid black, and one black with a white stripe. There is one light switch in the room that will be operating the fan/light (the fan has a light on it). I wired the white wire to the white wire, the black wire with the white stripe to the black wire, didn't know where to wire the solid black wire to. Now only the light part of the fan works, the fan does not work at all. Where does the solid black wire go? I need both the fan and the light to work.: The solid black wire on the fan is power to the fan motor. The black wire with the white stripe is power to the fan light. I assume that your fan has two pull chains. One turns the light on and off, the other turns fan motor on, and repeated pulls selects speed. You have three choices; 1.You can connect the black wire from the ceiling, the black wire from the fan and the black/white wire from the fan all together using an electrical wire nut. Now when you turn on the wall switch, both the light and fan have power and you can control them by pulling the chains. When you turn off the wall switch, you will not have light or fan. 2. You can wire as in 1 above and also connect the two wires which currently go to the wall switch. This will supply power continuously to the fan/light. You will operate the fan/lite entirely by the pull chains on the fan. The wall switch will now be inoperative. 3. You can buy a remote control fan unit at Lowes or Home Depot for around $30. This unit consists of two pieces, one goes into the fan, the other replaces your current wall switch. The wall mounted unit has buttons to turn on the fan light as well as to select the fan speed. It works by radio control similar to a garage door opener. This unit will not work with a hugger type fan mount.

Q: i have a 92 saturn and bought the wire harness, i put all the wires together and all that turned on was the theft light that comes on when you take off the face after that i tried putting the red and yellow wires together and it worked, just without the key having to be in the ignition and i think that is why the stereo gets so hot so can youall tell me how to wire it correctly?: if leith was paying attention he would of realized you already have the wire that goes straight to the battery. YOU need a wire to hook up to the red one that comes on with the ignition. if the wire thats supposed to work for this dont for some reason you can 1. hook it into the fuse box with something that comes on with the key or 2.you can simply hook the yellow wire and a 4 foot peice of 12 g wire to the one that gives it power then with your extra wire run itout on the dash for a toggle switch and run that back to the red wire and remember to turn it off or you will have a dead battery in the morning :)

Cutting the wires and attempting to hand wire is almost always a bad idea. The wiring harness is pretty cheap ($10-$20) and simplifies the whole procedure. Most of the time, the wiring harness and the head unit have similar colored wiring to aid in quick connections. Also, and more importantly, you can reverse the installation. The plugs will still be there and no cutting and rewiring at all. Remember, the head unit costs $150-$250 bucks, why would you cut corners on the installation kit?

Q: The new light has 1 live, 1 neutral 1 earth wire, do i remove the earth connect the reds if so what about the 2 blacks?: No! Wire the new light exactly like the light that you removed. If you don't remember what wire went where on the old light then you made a mistake by removing the old one without marking the wires or at least taking a cell phone picture or something. It sounds like there is probably more than one light fixture being controlled by that switch. It's hard to tell by your description. Electrons don't flow by wire color. There is no way to really tell what is going on by naming colors. Come back on here when you have a better description of what is going on. How many lights come on when you flip that switch? Is there more than one switch that controls that fixture? Which wires were hooked to the old light? Are any of the wires still wire nutted together? Don't be experimenting by hooking that earth ground wire to any other wire. Leave it hooked to the ground lug on the box. It has nothing to do with the light operating. It's for safety.
