- Q: How can I stop my cat from chewing wires? He does it all the time, and the wire he ends up being important.
- I have a cat who is petrified of wires - she too chewed them when she was a kitten, and each time she did I would creep up on her and then shout 'bang!' really loud. She soon learned that chewing wires = scary loud noise and stopped. It does mean though, if ever there is a wire anywhere, now, she won't go anywhere near it. If there's one she doesn't know about and gets too close before suddenly noticing it, she shoots up into the air like a skyrocket......perhaps we went a bit overboard on the scaring her things when she chewed them, but we were more scared of her electrocuting herself than being afraid of a few wires! So, if you want him to stop, that's what you've got to do! To everyone saying spray water - did you not learn about water and electricity in school?!!!!
- Q: Where can I purchase small wire of a large quantity that is similar to wire on cellular phone chargers? The wire im looking for needs to handle no mare than 12 volts.
- Belden is a good source, there are lots of other. But I suspect you want a multi-wire cable, not a wire. You need to specify the number of conductors, and the size of each. The 12 volts is not relevant. The insulation voltage is. Also, note that for long runs, you have to increase the wire size. .
- Q: I'm trying to install a ceiling fan but I'm having trouble with the wiring. Coming out of the fan I've got a black, white, black and white striped, and a green wire. coming out of the cieling i've got a black, a white and a red wire. The fan's green wire is connected to the bracket as a ground, so that's out of the way. It's the other wires that confuse me. I've tried, white to white, black to black, and BW striped to red, but that didn't do anything.Any ideas? Thanks.
- The wires on the fan; the white wire is the neutral, The black wire and the black/white wires are the hot wires on the fan, one goes to the fan and the other goes to the light. The wires in the ceiling; The white wire is the neutral, it gets connected to the white wire on the fan. Check the black wire and the red wire to see if they are both hot. If not, and the black wire is hot and the red wire isn't. the red wire feeds another circuit somewhere. If the wire feeds another circuit, tie the red, black wires in the ceiling together with the black and black/white wires from the fan. Is there an outlet or light not working somewhere? If they are both hot, connect one to the black wire and the other to the black/white wire. Is there a wall switch involved here? If so, when the wall switch is turned on, does it liven either the red or black wire? If this is the case, the wire that comes from the switch should be connected to which ever wire on the fan is the hot lead for the light. The other wire in the ceiling would be connected to the hot wire for the fan. There's lots of different scenarios that are possible. - Q: ok so i have 3 questions.i have an oldsmobile cuttlas supreme and i have a 0 gauge power wire that is 17 feet is that long enough???? and i have 0 gauge ground that is 17 feet is that long enough....and about the speaker wire..i have 8 gauge speaker wire that is 25 feet..is this a good setup.make sure u answer all these questions please thank you..
- that sounds plenty fine.
- Q: When I am wiring my sub to my amp, what gauge of wire should I use? The sub is 750 rms and the amp is 700 rms. And how do I wire a 2 ohm sub DVC to a 2 ohm stable amp?
- 12 gauge would work fine or maybe good to an audio shop and get some thing better
- Q: im installing an amp and i have no clue what to do with thw power wire.... I read to cut open my steros power wire (usually the blue) and wrap my power wire around it... I found the blue wire but there was a tag... Caution Remote output only... This is not the wire for power supply. please connect this wire to the remote for the amplifier... Does this mean i just connect this wire directly to my amp?
- ok wait hold up. so the only wire that should be hooked from the amp to the headunit is your speaker wires, remote turn on wire, and your rca cables. ....What you need to do is get the power cable(usually red) run it from positive on the battery to the POS on your amp. next put your ground wire from the GND on the amp to bare metal on your cars chasis.
- Q: i have a 98 ford taurus... can anyone give me a diagram of the wires that come off the radio, like wut colors r which speakers. i need to knw so i can wire it my cd player cuz i cant get a wire harness around here..
- Well for starters the wires that are at the radio are not the speaker wire, they are power, ground and data wires. The speaker wires are back at the factory tuner box in the drivers rear of the trunk behind the carpet. The tuner box is a silver box that is mounted to the rear drivers fender well and has the input and output for your speaker wires as well as your antenna. metra electronics makes a harness that plugs into the factory plug and that you have to run from the rear of the car up to the dash to put in an aftermarket radio. this harness also includes the antenna wire with the adapter for the factory antenna end. You also need to get a dash kit that will replace that factory dash piece so it will accommodate the new radio. It is a metra part number 99-5715. Hope this helps
- Q: Will you please remove any of the wires? The edge of the body, which is made of wire or what? Is it copper or iron?
- There are only two kinds of wire in the wire, one is copper, and the other is aluminium.. If you peel it off and it's yellow, then it's copper wire. If it's silver, it's aluminium wire, except these two.
- Q: do i need a wiring harness or can i use wire crimps and do it w.o on a 2000 blazer 4wd if u think i need it plz tell me thanks
- You should always use a wiring harness to install a stereo in a vehicle. Cutting the wires and attempting to hand wire is almost always a bad idea. The wiring harness is pretty cheap ($10-$20) and simplifies the whole procedure. Most of the time, the wiring harness and the head unit have similar colored wiring to aid in quick connections. Also, and more importantly, you can reverse the installation. The plugs will still be there and no cutting and rewiring at all. Remember, the head unit costs $150-$250 bucks, why would you cut corners on the installation kit?
- Q: I'm installing a remote start system in my car, but I can't find the tach wire. Does anyone know what harness it is located in, and what color the cable is? I've looked over the diagrams, but I can't seem to find the cable that runs to the tach guage.
- You can use a wire from a fuel injector. They should have two wires. Look at all of them and use a wire that is NOT common to other injector wires.
