It looks like a c-clamp, so don't tell me how to use a smaller one, but the bigger one.Thanks: the forked end of it will go over the spring part and the solid will work on the valve ,you can only use this one if the head is off though,the smaller ones work good if the head is still on the car,the c-clamps style though is the best one to use its safer and wont allow the springs to fly off,good luck.

Q: Not the cold and hot water shut off valves. The one with a tiny handle and it looks like a T. what does it do? should I mess with it?: Is the valve coming off a water supply line? if so, it's a needle valve probably installed at some point during a remodel or while adding an appliance. It appears to be possibly a valve for a radial aircraft engine as it looks very similar to ones i've seen used in Pratt+Whitney R3350's etc. It looks like it could probably date to the 1940's up thru the 1950's. Look for a Part Number stamped on the valve or on the box. After WW2 there were all kinds of manufacturers making parts for airplanes. Many were gobbled up by competitors, converted to manufacturing other products or went out of business altogether.
