Q: Does the nvidia GT 520 require any power supply cables to be attached to it or do only the mid/higher end cards like HD 6870 require psu cables to be attached? Thanks
for low end cards, you dont need an additional 6 pin or 8 pin power cable for it. It is only for mid range and high range cards that need additional cable for it. For GT 520, you don't need it.
Q: I had bought a new stereo for my Dodge Neon, had installed it, and everything worked great for a couple days. Later my stereo was no longer getting power, I took it out to try to find out the problem. The power cable from the battery to the stereo is no longer intact. The little metal pin in the middle(no, I don't know exactly what it's called) broke off! I have no idea how, or even where it is, all I know is that it's gone and I don't know what to do! Is this a replaceable car part? If so, where do I find a new part, or where would I take my car to get the best help and possible answers? Would it be better to take it to a mechanic or to a stereo installation shop?
the cables are not a life and run away from the dash , that never happends, and if the cable is there its not broken the power comes from the ignition switch not the battery , so you have a bad fuse or bad ignition switch most likely it is only a fuse, did you know there are 2 boxes ? check both
Q: I lost my PS3 power cable but I got one from an old pc and it does work but am i better off using my old cable?Does it affect my PS3's performance?
Mmm well a cable is a cable if it is a three pin one then it is fine. With powercables you need a certain thickness of the cable for safety. PC cables are able to run 1000Watt... so a 200Watt console is no trouble.
Q: i just want to select the power cable but i m having some confusion that when we select single core power cable we take current rating of that conductor but if we say 3-core cable has 200A capacity then it means that each core has this capacity or it is the the capacity of overall 3-cores
Generally ,each cable .
Q: all of my wiring seems okay and everything seems to work except for my amp power. I have the blue cord on the harness wired into the blue/white cord in my kenwood because i tried going blue to blue and it didnt work. So i have the remote cable from my amp plugged into the blue cord on my head unit. I have no power to my amp.
Its usually a blue wire with a white stripe. If not, another option is to find your fuse box and stick it in with a fuse that powers the stereo or another fuse that only is active when the key is turned. Afterwards, make sure the amp turns off when the key is off, if not, select another fuse. This is how my amp is hooked up because when I originally installed it, I had a stock deck. Good Luck!
Q: Ok, i know it is definitely a NO-NO to run my power cable through walls, but, what if I run the power cord through only to pull it out behind my entertainment center from the wall-plate my other cables come out, and plug in a surge protector?
Try running a plastic conduit on the face of the wall and paint it the color of the wall instead.
Q: What type of power cable does the ps3 take? I found a very good deal on craigslist, but it doesnt come with a power cord. Does ps3 take the standard 3 prong cable, like xbox 360? Or is it a special kind? And do all of the versions of ps3 take the same kind?
the ps3 does take that standard 3 prong cable.
Q: I have a cam camcorder battery charger power cable and I want to use it as a ps1 power cable. Is It possible. The both look the same.
If your talking about the end that looks like an 8 then yes it should work fine. That is a unerversual power cable. However if your PS1 has a small single round hole, i would be careful. Make sure the power is the same, you can check this by looking on the bottom, it should tell you what the conversion is, for ex: like 120v to 6v. Make sure your not throwing to much poser into your ps1.
Q: ok ive been having amp trouble lately. it wont turn on. ive figured the problem today when i got the voltage tester out. I have me Remote Turn On working. My ground is solid.RCAs connected properly.NO fuses are blown. ive checked all of them; 30 amp fuse for AMP, Max fuse under the hood, fuse relay center under the hood too, all good. connection from the power terminal is solid. heres what happened: i decided to move my amp and run the wires under the door sills because i needed more space. so i just had the car off and i disconnected my remote, power, and rcas. i left the ground because that didnt need to be moved.i dropped the power wire and it hit a seatbelt thing, and it sparked once. but not big.nothing blew, but now it seems like my power wire isnt working, my amp wont turn on-keep in mind my amp was not touched by the spark in any way.
Did you re check the in-line fuse under the hood?
Q: I'm new to PCs and I recently bought a Dell Optiplex 745 desktop PC but it came without cables. I thought I had the correct power cord but it turns out I gave it away to friends. I have the power cable that you plug into the wall which has the standard PC kettle plug (the correct one for PCs not an actual kettle plug) that you'd usually plug into an adapter then into your PC but I'm not sure if you can just plug it in without the correct adapter. I have Googled but cant make head nor tail of it all. And by adapter I mean the cable with the little box that you usually plug into a device such as a PC, laptop or Xbox 360 before you connect the cable to the mains.Thanks.
It all comes down to the amount of output that the pc is set to take. I would think that you would be fine without the adapter, assuming it already works. If you do decide to do this make sure you set up a surge protector, dont just plug it into the wall. A power surge could fry the internals and brick the pc.
