Q: Hello, I am shopping for solar panels for my home and there are so many to choose from. My house uses 40 Kw of power a day. If you had to choose from the output power of a solar panel from below, which one would you choose and why would you choose it? 2 Volts 4 Amps 48Watts2 Volts 8.5 Amps 02Watts6 Volts 7 Amps 2Watts24 Volts 4.2 Amps 00.8Watts24 Volts 8 Amps 95Watts
the last one has highest wattage. that will bring down the total number of panels you need to meet 40 KW. you probably need 220 panels
Q: Can solar panels be used for powering electric lawnmowers or gardening tools?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power electric lawnmowers or gardening tools. By connecting the solar panels to a battery storage system, the energy collected from the sun can be stored and used to power these tools, providing a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional power sources.
Q: I have a playstation PSP charger that is 5v 2A, so it takes 0 watts.I have several small solar panels that put out watt a piece and are 4 volts, 250mAhow can I get my 0 watts to be 5v 2A instead of 4v 250mA? the voltages have to match up right?also, what's a 3-T regulator that controls voltage?
3-T is just one type of many devices designed to control voltage so you get the amount you desire with as little static as possible. Without you having an degree in engineering, I can't explain it to you any better. You will also need to produce true sine wave energy or you will burn out your PSP with the correct volts and amps. You need one to produce only 5 volts 2amps. Anything different will burn out yur PSP. Your problem is simple math. Watts = volts multiplied by amps. Amps = Watts divided by volts. So if your solar panels can produce /4 amp ( 250 mA) each, then you connect one to the other in a series until you get enough connected to make 2A. ( 8 panels { /4mA x 8 = 2A}) You now have a panel with 32Volts, 2Amps, 64 Watts. This is where the T-3 regulator comes in. If you buy one for 5 volts, it will allow only 5 volts 2 amps, to go to your PSP.
Q: when we say a solar panel has 20% efficiency, do we mean that it converts 20% of sunlight reaching it into electricity or that it converts 20% of visible light(which is only 7% of sunlight) into electricity?
That portion of the sun's light to which it responds, of which it converts 20% to electricity.
Q: Can solar panels be used to power a university?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power a university. By installing a sufficient number of solar panels on campus buildings or in open spaces, universities can generate a significant amount of clean and renewable energy. This can help reduce reliance on fossil fuels, decrease electricity costs, and contribute to a more sustainable campus. Additionally, advancements in solar technology have made it more efficient and affordable, making it a viable option for universities looking to transition to renewable energy sources.
Q: When I make a solar panel, what do I use to store the energy. For example I am going to make a solar panel to power my lights in my room. But I dont want the lights only to come on when the sun is out because that would be very pointless. So... Do I use the panels to charge something like a car battery and then run wires from the battery to an extension chord which will go to a surge protector? It sounds awesome, but I have to put it all together. The help is very appreciated. Thank you guys.
First of all you seem to be talking about making a solar photovoltaic panel instead of a solar thermal panel. Most solar panels will produce DC electricity. Your house uses AC electricity. You can set up the solar photovoltaic panels to send their current to charge a battery bank and then you can tap into that battery bank and send the power to a voltage inverter to change the power to AC. The better inverters will do a better job of this. The system has to be matched and sized properly. If you are not familiar with electrical work you should have someone who is more knowledgeable help or do the work. Good luck with your project.
Q: I'm part of the Sustainability group at school, the school principal is a d**k and doesn't care about the environment, he only cares about money.Me and the group will be talking in front of him and the school council (the people in-charge of the school's money) To convince them to put solar panels on the school roofs.I know that it definitely will help the school save on electricity bills, but it WILL cost a lot of money to put them in.In the end we just wanna reduce carbon emissions!HELP :)
Unfortunately installing Photoelectric Solar panels on your school would probably cost more than the entire school budget. In order to make this sort of proposal you would need to have some hard numbers to show exact dollar amounts of costs and benefits. You would need multiple quotes from companies that install solar panels and information from the electrical company that would have to tie the system into their grid. This is a HUGE undertaking. If you really want to reduce carbon emissions, suggest ways to reduce the energy use within the school instead of converting to solar. Better windows, doors, and roof insulation. If you have a leaky roof, fixing that would get rid of water damage and better insulate the school thus saving energy. Suggest plans to reduce electrical usage like having computers go into Hibernate mode after 0 minutes, turning off lights in rooms that aren't getting used, etc... Many people are fooled into thinking that solar power is this awesome free energy source. IT is NOT. Solar panels are great for powering small items or for getting power when you have no other way of getting connected. However it takes MORE electricity to create a solar panel than the solar panel will ever produce in it's ENTIRE lifetime. Do some research into the production of silicon crystal and semiconductors and find out how solar panels are made. Until the technology improves greatly, solar is not a green power source other than generating money.
Q: A few months ago my dad said something about getting solar panels, and how green they were. I was just wondering if there were any companies that sold them and if they would actually make a big difference.

Q: Hi,I am thinking about getting solar panels installed. # I like to cut my electric bill. #2 I like to eliminate my oil boiler and use some sort of electric boiler.I use about 5000-30000 KW per hour( winter-summer). My oil bill is around 600 month winter time. Over all i pay around 4000 a year. My electric bil now is around 2000-2500 year. Is this possible? I live in NY. I heard you can get up to $35000 rebate from LIPA( Electric company) and 2k from federal and 5k from State( is the state or federal every year?, how does that work). Any help is appreciated.
There is a variety of information available on the internet regarding solar panels. You didn't say if you were interested in installing a photo-voltaic system to generate electricity, or if you wanted a passive solar system. From what I've read, the method that would give you the greatest payback for your investment is the passive solar heater. I can't give you exact instructions on how to construct one of these units, but there are many websites with instructions. My older brother had one of these mounted on his old farmhouse. He said his furnace didn't run all day during the cold Wisconsin winters. The government rebates or tax credits are usually a one time deal. They may pay for part of your installation, but they won't cover the whole cost. The only thing I've heard of that will pay you every year is a wind generator tied into the electric grid, but thats another posting. I'm including a link to a site that will show you how to build a cheap solar heater that you can try yourself.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on research facilities or laboratories?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on research facilities or laboratories. In fact, many research facilities and laboratories are increasingly adopting solar energy as a clean and sustainable power source. The installation of solar panels helps reduce carbon emissions, lowers electricity costs, and promotes a greener and more environmentally-friendly approach to conducting scientific research.
