- Q:Remodeling the bathroom...How can i drill a hole in ceramic tile...What kind of drill would I use..or what kind of file would be best to make a hole in the tile to go around the shower faucet..Thanks for your input...
- The composition of ceramic tiles is as different as there are countries in the world. For this reason, there is no one single answer on how to drill a hole in ceramic tile. There is, however, one drill bit that indeed will go through each and every tile, but you may have great difficulty locating it. Many ceramic tiles have a fairly soft inner core and a thin hard glaze on the outer surface that you look at. These are the very easy to drill through. The easiest tiles to drill into are very soft tiles that are often found in homes built in the southwestern part of the USA. Frequently these have no glaze or a very thin satin finish. Tile hardness is a function of the type of clay and its silica content used to make the tile. The final hardness of the tile is also directly related to the amount of time the tile is in the firing kiln and the temperature inside the kiln. High temperature and long baking times can produce rock-hard tile. Glass and porcelain tiles are very popular right now. These products are the hardest tiles to drill into. You can use a sharp carbide drill, but you need to oil or water the bit to keep it cool as it rotates on the tile. A diamond-encrusted bit will drill into porcelain or glass faster than carbide, but these bits are expensive. If you are drilling into softer tile, a regular carbide bit works fine. Do not use a hammer drill as the rapid vibrations can crack the tile. The trick is to use a slow drilling speed and carefully grind through the surface of the thin glaze. Once the bit gets into the softer core, the drill will rapidly cut through the softer fired clay. Do not apply too much pressure when you first drill as the drill and bit can slip away from the marked point and scratch the tile. The worst mistakes you can make are cracking or scratching a tile. If that happens, it will be a considerable amount of work to replace the damaged tile(s). Be careful and proceed slowly as you drill.
- Q:I have recently glued mosaic (mirrior finish) tiles onto a wall of mine, however I have noticed a few tiles, have almost sorta withered away at the back, it also almost looks as if the mirror backing scraped away, now giving more of a clear look. I would now want to remove some of the tiles out, Would it be advisable to use a chisel and hammer, to chip away the tile, or is there anything I can use to repair the tile.Much Appreciated

- Q:Does all kinds of tiles calculate the formula per square meter? For example, a few pieces of 300X600 is a square meter?
- This is like a primary school students will be considered it! 300X600 unit is centimeter right, that is, 0.3X0.6 = 0.18 square meters, 1 square meter ÷ 0.18 = 5.555, that is, five and a half more than a little bit.
- Q:I need to have something that makes you think of a tiled bathroom with flair. My work tends to be creative and one of a kind because I work with people to give them the project they didn‘t know they wanted. It really is my passion to keep the customer happy that they had a hand in the layout. So how do you have a quick name that‘s memorable and not a commercial mess like Tile and Bathrooms Incorporated Industries. Anyone‘s help is much appreciated on this. Its been like thinking about the perfect kids name for your future child at this point. Thanks
- You have the name in your question. Creative Tile and Bath. Says it all, right there. Or you could go with something similar New Creations Tile and Bath, so on and so forth. I think I'll go register Creative Tile and Bath as a domain name. Then you can buy it from me. LOL
- Q:No more tiles on the table, you‘re behind on points but can place your last tile while opponent still has tiles they can‘t place. Thanks!

- Q:Can I use talavera tiles for this? The porch is concrete and was painted at one time. Looks like the last owners removed the paint, but then left it as is. Is talavera tile ok to use on an outdoor porch. I don‘t know much about it, I‘ve only seen pictures and think it‘s beautiful! Thanks!!
- any tile you like is okay to use. my advice would be to prepare the surface by cleaning it thoroughly then using a concrete adhesive before setting your tile with white thinset mortar. after grouting , be sure to use a sealer to prevent moisture getting under the tiles. the sunlight will expand the water and cause vaporlock that will pop your tiles. then maintain by resealing at least once ayear.
- Q:How to quickly remove the transparent tape on the tiles
- They can say the way, that is, will get rid of the tile surface layer of glaze!
- Q:My wall tiles has been for more than 20yrs owned by first owner. - With all due respect, and after having installed multiple thousands of sq. ft. of tile, and applied thousands of gallons of paint, NEVER TO TILE. It's essentially glass. I see dozens of Q's asking, and as many answers stating it can be done. When I'm asked Can I? my response is usually Certainly I add, that one might not be satisfied with the result. In your case your options are few, now that the tile is already painted. Obviously touch up can be the first more economical of any choice. I wouldn't take a contract to paint tile, nor would I to install any peel and stick type of plastic. You could do a tub/shower enclosure over. You could use melamime or plastic sheet stock to cover. Without knowing your commitment to the house, or how long you intend to be there. With no offense in 5 years of ownership perhaps replacing might have been saved for. Just one opinion, but at some point, if the house was mine, and I intended to remain, I'd be pulling the old tile, adding concrete backer board, and re-do the bathroom. Steven Wolf
- Q:I‘m looking to buy black and off white tiles for my kitchen walls and just wondering does anyone know where is cheapest?? and which tiles are best??? please help its my first time doing up a house and iv no idea which ones to get or where to buy them.. and we‘re on a very tight budget:( thank you:)
- Cream and black is present the two very impartial. almost any coloration might artwork. the place you reside would dictate what's appropropriate. once you're in a southern territory you could choose a superb cooling pastel. while you're in a northern section a wealthy deep heat coloration could be solid. think of roughly what hues you like. carry the swatch at palms length and visualize it on the wall. this might help you with the final result. stay remote from greys and browns. deliver a 2d accessory coloration into the room with some selection desktops. a colourful vase, pot rack, or possibly a kitchenaid equipment can stand out as an accessory coloration. have relaxing and make constructive in spite of coloration you choose it particularly is what you sense delicate with (you would be the single residing in it). one extra situation- phychologically vegetables cut back urge for foodstuff and oranges advance. - Q:I have a large number of tiles on the walls of the laboratory nowadays, and the whole piece of fall, years ago is normal, do not know how the matter, please answer expert!
- Well, upstairs positive solution: upstairs friends said the first kind of hollowing the general two kinds of situations: 1, the workers in the construction did not have a responsible inspection of the back of the tile is fully integrated with the cement or cement label is not in accordance with the standard procurement , Resulting in cement after the tile off. 2, manufacturers in the tiles factory accidentally anti-fouling wax hit the back of the tile to reduce the combination of ceramic tile and cement performance. Specific identification method, hand tapping the drums around the other tiles there is no like knocking into the empty box of the sound, if there is basically that the process of paving caused by the phenomenon of hollowing. Upstairs friends said the second case is also easier after the tile paving the situation, the cement in the contraction of the time or the temperature changes so that the heat up and down, paving the process if there is no stay or stay Too small will make the tiles from the cement, there is a situation that the house is a long time due to the foundation will moderate subsidence problems, will lead to wall tiles appear drums, fall or crack occurs. Personal advice solution: 1, if the drop of the tile is not much landlord do not want trouble, you can use glass glue or marble glue from the new paste on the wall, but the useful time will not be very long. I hope I can help you
