Q: SO how to grow a date palm plant without vermiculite, yet still effective? Thanks: If the eggs are not pitting and they are all showing veins, they should be fine. Hatchlings can break through the shells of their eggs, they will have no trouble getting out of the vermiculite if they have to. The gray color should be fine as well. And I would not slit the eggs personally. Premature slitting can result in unfortunate decay in the egg. Until you have survived your first clutch I would just let things occur naturally. Observe first, then experiment :)

Q: Is vermiculite an organic or mineral matter?: best off using vermiculite or super hatch or something that will absorb and hold moisture better as you don't want to dry your eggs up nor do you want to have to be opening the container too much which you would have to do using sand because you'd be adding water regularly. Q: A couple of year ago I attended a Stone carving workshop. We made a mixture that consisted of plaster paris, cement and other ingrediants. This mixture was poured into a box and allowed to set. The end result was a soft stone that we then used for carving and making a small sculpture. Q: Does Vermiculite cause impaction? Can I use it in my moist/humid box for my leopard gecko?: part of the answer may be that a plant living on it, its roots around it, derive nothing but physical drainage of he soil, not directly providing anything to the plant ,as sunshine does, for instance. I think it also means does not reproduce, move on its own volition, and has no growth directly on it, like bacteria.

Q: I went up to my uncle‘s cabin in Wisconsin and we stumbled upon a painted turtle‘s egg nest. He thought the hole was a snake hole, so he covered it all up. But when we saw a mother painted turtle nearby, we had thought it was her nest. We uncovered the hole and decided it would be neat to try to hatch one. My uncle says it takes an entire year for the turtle to finally hatch. So anyways, I brought the little turtle egg all the way home to Michigan in a protected plastic cup in some dirt from the nest. But I have some good questions needing answering. What temp should the eggs be kept in? How deep in the little glass bowl of dirt should it be kept? Should I add moisture to the egg daily by putting in small ammounts of water? Please answer, and thanks if you do! :): I would personally get a plastic terrarium with a hood and a heat lamp, keep the terrarium at around 70 to 80 degrees, keep the humidity at around 80 and I would keep the egg in Coconut fiber substrate

When I worked for them, their primary pet distributor was Sunpet. Mites were a perpetual issue, in addition to an array of illnesses I had never seen before. None of their pets are captive bred by breeders. Reptile expos (as someone else mentioned) are your best bet.

Q: Long story short. I moved into a new house on 10 acres. I wanted a garden. There was already a existing garden, so I made it bigger much much bigger. After tilling the spot I can help but notice shinny little flakes of a golden color. Now I am finding these flakes more and more. The deeper I dig the bigger the flakes are getting. Q: I am teaching a children's art class and want to do a sculpture project with the kids. Some who have signed up are small and I am leary of giving them sharper tools to carve the plaster blocks I am making. I have instructions on mixing the plaster with vermiculite to make the plaster softer/slow down drying time. I have only found perlite- which is the same gardening-wise but I'm wondering if it will be the same for my purposes. I have found out vermiculite is clay based whereas perlite is rock I'm guessing I can experiment but figured I'd give a quick shout out first! Thanks!: Put it in the oven and dry it out. It is volcanic rock and there is no danger of any kind. If you heat it to at least 165 degrees for 30 minutes (at the coolest point) it will pasteurize the soil, meaning that at that temp any plant pathogenic fungi or bacteria will be killed. The issue with Vermiculite was asbestos occuring in some of the early mines. The dust created during mining was hazardous. This issue has been resolved.
