Q: I read in Richard Nicholls book on Hydroponics that extraordinary results can be acheived by growing cactus in water! Has anybody tried this?: No way! If you grow cactus in water it will rot within 1 hour and start to die. Catus are native from the desert areas like africa where there is almost no rain. These cactuses sometimes don't get rain for about 2 months and are still fine. If you see that your cactus is starting to shrivell up that means that they need water. The only cactus i could see living in water is the chrismas cactus it is not really a cactus it is a jungle cactus it is native from the rain forests and yes i have already tried to put normal cactuses in water and they all died, exept the chrismas cactus.

Can perlite and vermiculite be used for water treatment?: Perlite and vermiculite are not readily available, and need to be processed by corresponding processing equipment with a certain process. Generally, perlite needs not fine powder, which can be called coarse powder, and some areas are called coarse sand.To set the perlite processing equipment according to the final requirements, some broken process need to be broken by the jaw crusher, and then if the finished products need a lot of powder grinding processing by perlite mill, can achieve a finished product; if the product requires a large amount of coarse sand, with a jaw crusher finely, with efficient crusher, after perlite through the sieve screening, can get the corresponding size of perlite particles.

They are used as cheap filler, both expand when heated, both are natural, and they both help retain water.

If he has 5 bushels of 50% vermiculite mix, he has 50 vermiculite mix. If he adds 100% (20) to his 5 bushels of vermiculite mix, he will get 70 (50+20) vermiculite mix. So now he has 70 vermiculite mix and 50 peat moss. He needs 48 (8 (which is 40%) times 6 (# of bushels needed) ) peat moss and 72 (12x6) vermiculite mix. Therefore, he does not have enough. I'm pretty sure this is a weird method of doing it, but it still works

Q: I have lost soOOOO many litters to molding even when i try so hard to ventilate it. Are chicken egg incubators good?: If you're having trouble with mold, try different incubating medias. Vermiculite, perlite, and spaghum moss all work well -- perhaps you could split the clutch carefully into several groups (if the eggs aren't stuck together) and try the different methods. Too much ventilation likely introduces mold spores. Start with sterile media in the first place and don't keep it too wet -- just slightly damp is best. Make sure your temps aren't too high -- if the temperature climbs over 90F for very long, your eggs will die and then they'll get moldy and rot. Can you describe your setup more fully? Maybe someone will be able to spot what you've been doing wrong. Good luck!

But, you definitely need to raise the temperature for her as I didn't realise mine was pregnant and she suffered a lot due to my not supplementing her additionally nor raising them temp.!
