Q:Would it have any affect on my plants? What about vegetables? Strawberries? I have quite a bit left, I'm thinking of using it in one of my small planting areas.
Succulent soil would be the easiest to use. But if you want to use your Miracle Grow buy a small bag of perlite and mix it in about 50/50 with the Miracle Grow. Perlite is a light-weight rock and will give the Miracle Grow a texture more to the liking of succulents. Vermiculite holds water, so don't use that.
Q:I'm doing a science fair project.(what material absorb water.?
You might consider switching the substrate in the incubator to vermiculite rather then using moss. Vermiculite and perlite are the two main recommended substrates for incubation. They surround the eggs better and retain moisture reliably. Wet the vermiculite and then squeeze out as much water as you can by hand. The consistency that you are left with is what you want. Damp enough for the pieces to slightly stick together. I always incubate my corns with an a lid on the egg container with small air holes. There is often enough condensation produced to keep the medium moist through-out the incubation period but occasionally it does have to be re-moistened slightly. In that case lightly drip some water on the substrate in between the eggs. Don't wet the eggs themselves. The hatchlings should be separated from each other to avoid cannibilism and keep track of feeding. Deli containers are ideal, any take-out restaurant in your neighbourhood would likely be willing to sell you enough to house your clutch.
Q:Can I germinate apple seeds in vermiculite?
I don't think vermiculite would be a good substrate for several reasons. I usually buy organic peat moss.
Q:So i filled my substrate jars with the proper amounts of vermiculite + water, stirred, then added the proper amount of brown rice flour. i put the jars in a steaming pot (elevated above water level) for about 2 hours, but did not have my spore syringe yet. so i let them sit for like 2 days in the pot, wihtout taking the lids off any of the substrate jars (or the foil).have my substrate jars lost any of their water content due to evaporation, perhaps during the steaming process or during the 2 day wait before inoculation?the jars had the lids loosely screwed on, with 3 holes hammered into the top (small holes), and covered in tin foil.
this looks more like a chemistry question.
Q:She is gravid but she is not close to laying her next clutch of eggs yet. I have an egg laying box with vermiculite in the vivermiam. Her poop had shiny stuff from the vermiculite and then white stuff on the poop has yellow spots on it. Can she be constipated if she at the vermiculite? But why is she not eating her shed skin? SHE USED TO EAT IT BEFOREI also got a 5-6 year old male who also does not eat his skin but i helpe him shed. Why doesnt he eat it as well?
So long as she is shedding fine (there are no bits left on her face, vent or toes.) it's nothing to worry about. Some of my leopard geckos don't eat their shed. Or some leave some of it on the floor for me to clean up. Q:How to use pure vermiculite leaf cuttings succulent plants
Vermiculite, add water, can not be too wet, hand can become a group, but can not squeeze the water, and then flat leaves, in the above, do not care. After half a month to go, long after the roots of vermiculite, occasionally with water to the root on the line
Q:Do you have to have a license to breed them?If so,where and how do I get 1?What is the best kind of incubatour? Can I build 1?What is the most poular color morph?Where should I buy my first breeder snakes? What are some helpful websites?Do you know a breeder that wouldn't mind answering a lot of my questions? Is vermiculite better than sphagnum moss?
It will blow away if there's any wind and the vermiculite is dry. Might stick to any fruit or vegetables and I don't think you want to eat vermiculite. If you think it will stay on the ground where you put it, I can't see how it would do any harm as a mulch.
Q:Well.. I'm trying to breed my own crickets for my bearded, as they can tend to be expensive and my dragon eats an easy 30-50 per day. My dragon won't touch veggies, I've tried for months so once things get going I plan to start gut loading veggies.I have my crickets in a large tub, with 3 egg flats. I'm currently housing aprox. 400 crickets but they don't seem to be breeding. I believe the females are laying eggs through the water source (Gel H2O) instead of the vermiculite. On another note, there are always 30-100 males crawling over the vermiculite and only females on the water gel. What's going wrong, what do I need to change?
Usually they are made up of space dust and rock that have been fussed together...but in the case of our moon...it is actually made up of a piece of earth that was broken off when an asteroid blew into it....at least thats the scientists hypothesis
Q:I surface sowed the seeds on normal pot soil in a tray and did not cover the seeds at all. I put these seeds under a T5 grow light for 16 hours a day, and in 3 days I already found out they had their little root germinated! But here is what the packet instructions say:Place seed on the surface of a good free draining, damp seed compost and cover with a fine sprinkling of compost of compost or vermiculite. Seal container inside a polythene bag and keep 15-20C (59-68F) until after germination can take 1-3 months. Do not exclude light, as this helps germination.Well, it seems that light is the MAJOR determinant of the germination!
Not necessarily. All it may indicate is light is necessary, not a major determinant. Nowdon't start crowing yet.some plantsand I don't know if C.routundifolia is one.have a secondary hibernation after germination. Lisianthus for example with germinate and then must go thru a second hibernation where it will not grow!!! for several month until the second hibernation factors are overcome. It's enough to pull one's hair outwhich might explain a few things. Still, congrats on getting them up, may damp-off not find your little babies.
Q:i have 2 corn snake eggs, how moist should they be?
