When I am on the silence setting it is quieter than a pot of boiling water! I have a Miele Callisto right now and I am so surprised by how quiet it is. Please help!: Buy a Dyson or a Miele, you can't go wrong. You'll be buying quality for maybe twice the price of one that wouldn't do as good a job and that you'll replace in a year. They will last you 10 years no problem and do a better job than the lesser vacuum cleaner too. So you'll save money in the long run too. It's a win win situation.
