- A 4core (electrical) cable of that strength is usually built up from quarter circle shaped sectional wires. (Think of a pizza cut into four even pieces.) So, calculate the outside diameter from this point and add 4 times the insulator thickness. Example: 400V 4core cable has very likely 1mm insulator thickness. 150mm? * 4 cores is 600mm? total. By A=PI*d'*d'/4, d' being the diameter without insulator, would be d'=2*sqrt(A/PI)=600mm?/3.1415...=2*sqrt(...? Now, as said above, add the 4 insulator layers, and then you would be at approx. 31.7mm outside diameter.

- If you have the ability to increase the voltage to compensate for the volt drop and the cable has sufficient current carrying capacity, then you are fine. The volt drop will cause a little wasted power but nothing compared to cable costs probably. - You might have a DOA power supply or motherboard. It might just have problems with the connections. Sounds like the problem is the motherboard if 2 power supplies dont work on it. I would consider getting a new motherboard.

- Use a long RCA cable. If you use speaker wire - you have to run wires from the left/right outputs to the sub, then more wire from the sub to the left/right speakers. Then you have to tell your receiver your left/right speakers are LARGE and you do not have a sub to get things to work. A single long RCA cable is simpler. You can even make your own with pre-terminated CATV coax and some F-to-RCA-Male adapters from Radio Shack. Subwoofer signals work fine and do not need any kind of higher end RCA cable.
