- Q: my husband is running wire to a hot tub, which uses a 220 plug. he is going to hook up a 30 amp breaker. what size wire should be used?
- It depends upon the length... Assuming the length is less than 90 feet, use number 10 AWG wire, 600 Volt Insulation.
- Q: I need someone's help on wiring my new JVC radio to its harness for a 1991 Chevrolet S10. Please Ty very much.

- Q: Well i bought new speakers for my 92 integra and when i installed them i also wanted to get new speaker wire.how would i go about installing all new wires?would you recommend have circuit city do it or is it not as hard as it looks?
- it breaks off because its very thin wire. You need to run new wire. The smallest I would use is 16 gauge wire....14 gauge for the best sound quality. All you need to do is run from your head unit or amp to each speaker. If you have 4 speakers then run 4 wires.EXAMPLE: FRONT CHANNEL LEFT (1) FRONT CHANNEL RIGHT(2) REAR CHANNEL LEFT (3) REAR CHANNEL RIGHT(4) Thats it....Just do your best to conceal the wire under carpet, or along wire mold which is under plasic foot/door strip, on the floor of the vehicle.
- Q: what is the best speaker wire for some subwoofers that are rated between 500rms watts to 750rms watts
- well loxotox is right if you are asking about power wire but for SPEAKER wire i would get no less than 12 guage speaker wire and in that case the bigger the better
- Q: I attempted to change a bathroom fan to a new one with the help of a friend. He disconnected all the wiring without paying attention to what he was doing and what was wired where. We have a set of wires coming from somewhere (I presume the fuse box) to the fan that is hot regardless of the switch being on or off. That has a black, white and naked wire in it. Then we have another wire that comes from the switch that has black, white and naked as well. The fan has black, white and green. Can someone please tell me how to connect these as we have tried everything and the only thing that works is wired to the constant hot which of course won't allow us to turn the fan off with the switch...
- You need to pull your wall switch to see how it is wired. I suspect the original wiring used the black and white on the switch itself which would make the white actually black or hot instead of neutral. If on one side of the wall switch the black wire is wired and the other the white then you need to wire the black from the fuse panel to the black going to the switch. Then the white coming from the switch to the black on the fan. The white on the fuse panel wire would be wired to the white from the fan and all grounds(bare and green) wire together.
- Q: When wiring an aftermarket car stereo, do you always match color to like color? Also do you have to use every wire from the wire harness?
- Assuming the head unit follows the standard color code (there are some cheap Chinese import units that don't) then you should match the head unit wire colors to the harness wire colors. There are a few extra rules, though: -If the harness has a blue wire, and the head unit only has blue/white (no blue), then the blue harness wire should be connected to the blue/white head unit wire. If the harness has a blue/white AND a blue wire, then both of them should be connected to the head unit's blue/white wire. Similarly, if the head unit has only a blue wire and no blue/white, then it should be connected to the blue and the blue/white wires in the harness. -Orange and orange/white can be treated as interchangeable; ie, an orange/white head unit wire can be connected to an orange harness wire, and vice-versa. (If the harness has both an orange and orange/white, though, don't combine them--just use one or the other with the head unit). -Some harnesses have a black/white wire; this can usually be combined with the black ground wire. -Brown and orange/black wires in harnesses should be taped off individually and not connected to anything. -Some harnesses don't have a black ground wire. In this case, the black wire from the head unit will need to be grounded somewhere else. There will usually be wires left over. Make sure each one is insulated so it can't cause a short or contact another wire.
- Q: i heard there are many diferent copper wire but i only know 2 kinds.1 is for eletric and the other is for crafts. So what else is there?
- Copper wire is a metal and is used in electric and electronics compounds. so, that it can flow electricity very easily as it is a good conductor of elctricity, this is a type of a metal in which there are many type of content present in the same and it is cadmium free copper as well as also know with the name Electrolyte Copper which is 100% pure. There are many types of copper wire like:- Plain copper wire Tin-coated copper wire Braided copper wire Tinsel copper wire Bunched copper wire Braided copper wire etc.. - Q: Why is thin strand wire better for powering car audio?
- Thin strand wire is more flexible and so stands up to the flexing and vibration in a car application better. May not be an issue in the short term, but over time the thinner strand should hold up better
- Q: I'm trying to install a ceiling fan and I'm looking for some help given my home's wiring. I have a single light switch in the room, and here's what's coming out of the ceiling: 2 white wires, 2 black wires and a ground wire. It seems like a set of white and black originate from the same location (in both cases). My celing fan with light has a remote connection, so there's one black, one white and one ground wire coming from my fan to connect to the ceiling. Can someone let me know how to hook it up so the fan and light both work? Thanks in advance.
- In most cases in would be all blacks and all white and grounds together...........but some electricions will take heat back to the switch on the white leg............if they switched wires you can tell by opening the switch box and look at the colors..........try a light bulb first..........to see what switches it. Nothing to it..........just look........you'll get it.......also you will find if it's been changed......normally a white wire will have a black piece of tape around it...........that's telling you that white leg is now black and going to be hot . nite
- Q: Why do some vehicles have more than one starter wire at the ignition switch?
- The extra wire activates the fuel pump while cranking. The run position only lets the fuel pump run if it sees signals from the cam and/or crankshaft sensors.
